A different menu page for the 4K disk the emphasis of this set is very much all focus on the actor playing Bond.

    Play...

Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision nice, title track packing a punch

The brightness has been toned down, seeing more grain and detail. This film looks much more cinematic, far more realistic tones and colors.

    Strangways shot, this looks amazing.

It does feel like i am watching a different film, at soma point I will do a side by side comparisons with other versions of the DN.

'I am looking for Mr James Bond' ...one of the most iconic moments in cinema Bond's reveal has never looked or sound better.

The relationships established by all players in this film is done at lightening speed, its a masterclass by all involved.

The look of the film is reminding me of OHMSS even more than before, as a viewer you just want to exist in this world.

With the glare/brightness toned down there is a clearer distention between the different settings/environments which adds a lot to the film.

Connery's Bond was so direct from the start, he nailed it.

Airport scene, Bond is no mug and he always looks like he could kill anyone at any moment.

There is some great detail on the suit the bogus driver is wearing grains of dirt and sweat on his shirt, ruffled suit and dusty cap looks so authentic. This film is in my top five Bond film's for good reason.

Connery was a great subtle actor, in the none dialogue scenes he says so much with his body language you can always see the wheels turning.

    Quarrel underestimating Bond.

'I hope he cooks better than he fights'. great line.

For some reason I thought the photographer spat at Quarrel before scratching his face, i am going to have to watch my Bond50 Blu-ray to check that scene..

    Edited: I was mistaken.

Had to pop out, Dr No's operatives are closing in on Bond. Bond meets the slippery Dent.

Ken Adams sets are stunning, Dent is immediately ruffled by 007 and high tails in daylight to the sinister, calm and collective DR No.

Bond checking if anyone has been in his apartment, Bond not taking any risks opens a second bottle of vodka as a precaution.

The Tarantula effect on the mirror looks better.

    Miss Tara permanently looks suspicious.

It's Miss Tara that spits at Bond.

Bond sets the scene to execute Dent, very atmospheric love the sound of the insects and animals in the background.

Setting sail for Crab Key under the cover of night, this looks phenomenal in 4K/

Awaken on paradise beach to the dulcet tones and beauty of Honey, this is in no way depressing. The ocean Honey emerges from looks truly tropical now.

The way this shot is framed when Bond and Honey first interact is well done as there is a height difference, Honey is on a higher part of the beach and closer to camera which visually puts the characiforms on a more equal footing.

Megaphone henchman always makes my chuckle, when he removes the megaphone from his mouth he is still sounding like a megaphone I was half expecting them to fix that, it has its charm.

Good attention to detail cloning and drying his Walther PPK after the swamp scene.

I like the bleak and murkier environment when the dragon/tank appears its almost Dickensian.

The Dolby Atmos sound is an improvement thought the sound is very much in front of you at times which is probably to be expected with film of this age (I will have to try my other two sound systems later to see if they are better, using a Dolby Atmos sound bar at the moment).

Quarrels falls, Bond and Honey taken to DR No's base this film is art, I will take these sets over crappy CGI any day of the week.

These films always have polite evil hospitality staff.

DR NO's lair wow, it does feel like I am watching this for the first time.

I love the Bond and Honey builds without being forced they are natural responding to the situation they are in.

The word jousting between DR NO and Bond is some of the best in the series.

Watching this for the first time in 1962 must have been incredible, as soon as SPECTRE is mentioned it opens up a whole new world and elevates the stakes considerably.

I honestly believe Denis could give us a film of this caliber.

Confined Bond gets electrocuted though always uses his wits, in Bonds debut cinematic outing nothing is made easy which is important.

Terence Young is my favorite Bond director, his 3 films are superb.

Bond has infiltrated DR NO's command center, and typically gets a telling off from the villain whilst disguised which is so funny.

The miniatures are brilliant they have wear and tear detail that makes it convincing.

DR NO is a great villain in that he likes to project a controlled persona though when he cracks its the opposite.

    Honey rescued from drowning.

Felix to the rescue Bond says NO, DR NO and loosens the rope, Honey looking amazing you cant blame Bond lol.

That was an absolute joy to rewatch I could easily watch that again now, its just one of the best films IMO.

From Russia With Love next sticking with the same audio output for this first time 4K remaster watch.

Bond being stalked by Grant, Connery does enough with hindsight in his performance to convince you its not Bond, expressions etc obviously aided by make up. Back in 63 the audience for a moment would have been duped for sure.

This is a great scene and brilliant set up for later confrontation..

Title sequence is class, Bond theme is thunderous probably my favorite interpretation of the them..

Dolby Atmos as expected more effective here. The clicking clock during the chess tournament nice.

Again watching this is seeing live art. always loved the Siamese fighting fish analogy. the script and dialogue in the early films is 10/10.

Amazing scene with Blofeld top tier, everyone want to be number 2.

SPECTRE island Klebb does not like men holding her arm good character development there, subtle foreshadowing.

This remaster is amazing worth every penny.

Grant stalking th main protagonists throughout the first two act is genius.

    Moneypenny smoking on the job.

    'For my next miracle'.

Bernard Lee the first and best M.

Cain's FRWL M set is not as good as Adams DN set.

    Desmond's debut.

    Grinning this is awesome.

My top five are, top spot changes often...
    FRWL
    TB
    OHMSS
    DN
    LALD

Bond and Kerim's friendship is one of the very best in the series.

Bond duped into opting for the bridal suit.

Shaw one of the best ever henchman, says hardly anything for most of his screen time though convey so much through performance.

Going to have to toggle between the 4K disk and Amazon prime HD version...

Again a noticeable reduction in glare the picture looks so much more natural.

Fight fight, these girls don't hold back, Barry's music is phenomenal.

The skin tone of the ladies in this scene and they show a lot of flesh really does illustrate the step up in picture quality.

The music transition when the shooting starts is brilliant.

Second best version of the OO7 theme IMO, it really bounces, wow this looks awesome.

The way Connery moves as an actor is unmatched.

Guardian angel Red Grant. I am pretty sure Bond accidently hurt a few of the Gypsy's.

Bond has a tough life being totally pampered by the Gypsy girls.

Kerim going to take out Krilenco, the picture looks phenomenal highly recommend the 4K disk.

she has a lovely mouth that Anita.

Do not trust large mirrors Bond.

Tanya nudity sneaking into the bed is even more apparent here.

    SPECTRE are shameless.

Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque is one of my favorite Bond locations, the detail is incredible here.

I always get too engrossed in FRWL to post comments.

Bond has the plans after his guardian angel strikes again.

    Tanya's voice recording is hilarious.

    Bang on time...

    All aboard the Orient Express.

The chemistry between Bond and Tanya is effortless.

Kerim is dead, one of the very best ally's to Bond. Barry's SPECTRE theme is so ominous.

    Bond is not happy.

I don't really keep a ranking, allthough I do enjoy some films more than others. But FRWL is such a fascinating, original story. And it's executed in such a fascinating way.

I love the way Grant shadows Bond throughout the film, progressively getting closer to his prey. that he underestimates

The lack of exposition and visual story telling in FRWL is sorely missed in many modern films.

Shaw is such a great actor, has that underlining menace, Bond is no fool and see's what the audience see's.

God this is so good, Bond picking up on Grant's food and wine choice. Bond seeing Tanya getting drugged, I love these little details.

Absolutely. I absolutely love the scene where he thinks he's got the upper hand. The disdain and veno in his voice is palpable.

Great acting in this scene ramps up the tension, even after watching this film hundred's of time's I am still concerned for Bond when held at gun point.

Grant claims he is a pro though he is enjoying his job too much.

What I often find interesting here is Grant is a sadistic fool, if the roles were reversed (all facts known) Bond would have killed Grant already.
