I think, with the Amazon acquisition of the creative rights, Jacob Elordi's chances just went way up. They well might be looking for a clearly rising international star, not an unknown.

I'm not big on social media but check out how many followers or likes an actor has...that will eventually lead Amazon and its algorithms to the next Bond actor.

They are going to want someone who already is demonstrating international appeal and not someone who is only just breaking in the UK or US. There was a chance of that with Broccoli and Wilson with their deep ties to the British film industry, but that is not the case with Amazon.

He actually deleted Instagram a few weeks ago, but he had 12 million follows before doing so. Personally, I LOVE the idea of Elordi getting the role. He is a good actor and looks like a leading man. He has been my number one choice for over a year now and I hope Amazon agree, he was phtographed with Jennifer Salke at the Saltburn premiere...even has the company logo behind him

He looks embarrassed to be on camera.

So does Brad Pitt, and yet the camera eats him up, in the best sense. But I get what you mean.

Someone on the Empire podcast mentioned Daryl McCormack, I think he’s come up in the thread before but, yeah, could be a decent option.

I’ve seen him in a few things. I like him, though the things I’ve seen him in have given him fairly light roles.

I'm going to laugh so hard when Chalamet is cast... All the other guys hinted are coat hangers. It's going to be Chalamet, period. He would be the perfect Gen Z Bond. You don't change a winning team.

Well there would be no expiration date.

Unless something totally different is meant by that term.

Yeah I’d need to see him in something a bit meatier before I’m more convinced. Basically I need to see them all have their own Rebel Ridge!

Don’t think I’ve seen Pierre in anything at all, though given what everyone’s been saying about Rebel Ridge perhaps I ought to check it out.

I doubt the three names listed by Variety are the only actors in contention (if it has credibility, and if Chalamet was being considered, Variety might have mentioned him too I think), and I have no doubt at least one of them will be taken out of consideration, and yet more people will be added and subtracted from the list, by the time they get a script ready and begin casting.

I think they did say those actors are on a list ‘including’ them, which could mean anything in terms of numbers, really. I don’t doubt they’re on some kind of list, but there could be dozens if not more on it! I mean, Chalamet has starred in a number of top box office films, if they haven’t considered him even for a couple of seconds then they’re not doing their job properly, even if they dismissed the idea within moments.

Well, Orlando Bloom have been spotted as one of the attendees in Jeff Bezos' wedding in Venice.
If the two men talked about Bond business (Bloom and Bezos) who knows what could possibly happen?
Personally, as of now, I have no actors as the the next Bond in my mind, just blurry, whatever will be, will be, Que Sera Sera.....As they say, it's hard to pick, I'm not expert in picking who's the best one for the role.
That scenario reminded me when a drunk John Taylor from Duran Duran approached Cubby Broccoli to make the theme song for 'A View To A Kill' and then we have it.

If I were Amazon, I would pick Harris Dickinson and make him a James Bond that's addicted to Benzedrine. I think Dickinson would play that type of James Bond very well.

Chalamet is not British and they said they wanted British.

Not to mention he's skinny. He was cast as Paul Atreides partially because he looked the part. Bond is obviously a completely different character.

I think a guy with non intimidating looks is probably who Amazon will cast. Harris Dickinson fits that description.

There's no alpha male vibe to him but he probably looks dapper enough in a dinner suit and maybe he looks tough enough holding a Walther.

I don't expect the next Bond actor to look alpha male (which is a bit of a cliché cringy term) but it's accurate when describing James Bond. Bond is an alpha male in looks and confidence and social skills. Tom Holland may have the acting ability to be confident on screen but you can't look alpha male if you're not blessed with that facial structure. That's just how it is, life isn't fair, so if we accept the next Bond actor won't look alpha male (and I never thought Craig looked alpha male, more like a Bond villain but he was accepted in the role)... then I can see someone like Harris Dickinson getting the role.

Elordi looks too tall and lanky and why cast an Australian over all the potential British actors out there? It happened with Lazenby but he did have a certain arrogant swagger which I doubt Elordi has.

Yes, he is the least famous of the three but he makes the headline.

I hope they choose an unknown that has charisma and looks like the canonical Bond from the novels.

Wishful thinking, of course. Oh, look, a unicorn! :D

As far as I can see it’s just another ‘James Bond cannot work for a modern audience’ piece, foretelling doom for the franchise. I think they’ve been saying that since the Sixties. The basic fantasy of a guy going out into the world and having adventures has worked since ancient times, there’s really no reason it can’t work now that I can see, provided it’s done well. Brad Pitt’s new film is doing well, and that’s about a guy making a living driving in circles; just make it exciting and it has a good chance of selling.

Yes, these kinds of articles pop up every few years, at least. It shows the cultural durability of Bond that it keeps outlasting these "Will Bond be relevant?" articles.

Dickinson had a very Bondian look in certain scenes of Where the Crawdads Sing. He does need to bulk up a little as his face can look a little long and thin, but in Crawdads he was channeling a young Sean Connery - perfect look for him.

Jacob Elordi has a Brosnan-esque look. Just a natural leading man with the square jaw and angst to book.
