I think this movie will explore some interesting situations, though I did get a Snyder vibe to the Lois lecture.
THAT is Lex Luthor. 100%
I do like that this seems to be a somewhat naive Superman that looks through a simple right or wrong viewpoint. Lois is asking if he considered the consequences and his response to that is “PEOPLE WERE GOING TO DIE”. He’s not thinking in terms of politics but of lives, he comes off so frustrated like he feels as if he’s the only sane person on the planet that thinks like that.
It's sounds like Trump! :))
The whole point is Kal-El has a dual identity on Earth. He disguises himself as Clark Kent. To squander that 'disguise' in the first film is foolish, imho. Lois knows Clark is Superman so James Gunn/DC have cheaply thrown away a key aspect of the character. Sorry but the film has already messed up.
Maybe she's part of his human disguise lol
If you’ve only read old comics, sure, but this is no longer the dynamic and hasn’t for decades.
You understanding seems out of date. The old conceit of Clark Kent being the act that’s put on by Superman is a very old take from the pre-Crisis comics. Ever since the comics rebooted in 1986, Clark Kent has always been the true personality and that’s because it objectively makes more sense that way. Think of it, he grew up in Kansas adopted by a kind couple. For many years he didn’t even know what his true origin was. When he finds out his origin, that doesn’t suppress and take over who he is. He’s still very much Clark Kent. So when he becomes Superman, that’s actually an act he’s playing for the public.
The film didn’t mess up anything, it’s just finally catching up with where the movies have been lagging for over 30 years.
Even the whole thing with Lois not knowing Superman is Clark has already been played out. It hasn’t been a core aspect of Superman ever since she found out in the comics over 30 years ago. It worked great for Reeve’s films, but we should account for the 40 years that have passed since Reeve’s debut.
That scene might not be quite what it first appears to be. Keep the faith.
Trailer looks interesting! Not the prettiest looking film I’ve ever seen visually (at least in places) but I’m looking forward to it.
I wonder, if they're using Williams' theme, will they use the 'Can You Read My Mind' theme?
“Hal?”
“How did you know it was me?”
“I’ve seen you naked.”
I can't wait.
It's become sad at this point...
One of the disappointments of BvS was how it basically swept aside the whole subject of Superman’s accountability. We’re about to get a full on trial in regards to Superman’s actions… and then the court gets bombed and we never try getting on that subject ever again.
The trailer for Gunn’s film shows Lois throwing hardball questions at Superman and how he doesn’t seem to fully grasp accountability beyond “I saved lives, people were gonna die”. That seems to at least promise what BvS was trying to tackle but didn’t stick the landing.
I think he will Surprise alot of people, David is a good actor and very down to earth. Gunn should have put David front and center with the marketing, hopefully with a month to go Gunn will stop promoting himself so much and promote Superman.
Good god!
I tend to agree, though I think we are looking at a 3 hour run time. Still I remember the days of lean run times. Films didn't overstay their welcome and didn't break our bladders.
Actually the film is only 2 hrs.
I have watched the trailer 50 times, this is going to be great.
Lex maybe the most comic accurate live action depiction of the character, Gunn does mean spirited and villains very well.
Silver Age Superman.
<:-P
Guy Gardner calling out Supes I really want to see how that scene plays out.
I have major issues with the film though this is awesome.
I do like the tone of Lex in the ads. Though I have seen some say "oh great another Superman film with Lex as the villain." So there might be some fatigue from the die hards.
