Watching TLD with captions and Dalton apparently says “It must be an atmospheric anomaly”. I always thought it was atmospheric phenomenon, but I went back and sure enough it does seem like it’s anomaly.

I thought that Craig didn't know how to drive a manual trans?!?

That's what they said. Strange, no?

The CR one was manual too, as was the DB10. Why's this noteworthy?
  • Supposedly because Craig didn't have a license to drive a manual transmission.

As intimated by @Reflsin2bourbons above during the run up to CR being released there was the press rumour that Craig couldn't drive a manual car, only an automatic car. I chalk it up to the general negativity over Craig's casting as Bond prior to his knocking it out of the park with his performance in CR.

We've known that was nonsense for 20 years though, surely.

Yes, indeed. I think they were just joking above about that though sometimes the meaning can be lost or at least ambiguous in text.

Exactly. A load of old tosh that the tabloids gleefully ran with. It was probably because he drove an automatic car in the film somewhere and the rumour just grew from there.

Just like the flak he received for wearing a lifejacket while being transported along the Thames to the press conference. Even though it was mandatory...

His treatment by the press was a disgrace.

I never paid attention, but as I've been looking around for maybe, maybe, buying a DB9 next year, and finding manual gearboxes on those are hard to find, it struck me when I was watching QoS that indeed the DBS is a manual.
And yes, that reminded me of the nonsense surrounding Craig.

I think those DBSs came as manual as standard with optional auto, whereas I think the DB9 started out as auto only with a manual option coming later. DB9 is more of a cruiser so I guess most customers would have gone auto.

Sadly the site still exists, although they’ve changed the name to classicbondforum now.
The likes of bjmdds are still harking on about how terrible Daniel Craig was, or as bjmdds calls him Cr-egg. I’m sure Daniel Craig would be highly offended. If he knew the site existed.
Katied is also still active, though she’s just a yes woman. She likes the attention of being the only female member I think. Rather small membership of, I’m trying to think of a better word than morons, who still cling to a time when Brosnan was Bond and blame Craig and Broccoli for the past 20 years of heartache they’ve suffered. The rest of the world and Bond fan base have moved on. Sad.

But I digress, I’ve never really noticed how much NSNA feels like a Roger Moore type Bond film.
Considering it had the original Bond, it seems unusual to me.

Had a little look at it just now. My main question is why that and the current danielcraigisnotbond.com look like they're message boards/websites from the late 90s/early 2000s :)) Not sure why but it caught me off guard considering they're from later (or at least would plausibly have been updated).

It feels like a Guy Hamilton movie IMO. It's not exactly the same, but quite similar.

The original DCNB website itself is interesting and really does feel like stepping back into 2006. It's almost an archived site in that way (although many of its links don't seem to work anymore, so it's more akin to a ruin than a preserved landmark). My favourite page is them talking about boycotting CR and supposedly thousands of people walking out of the cinema (which would make no difference to the box office anyway presuming they'd already purchased tickets). Apparently 'millions' of people didn't even go to see the film at all and it was a disaster. Pretty sure it was like the fourth highest grossing film that year. The cherry on top is the call to sign a boycott petition that would supposedly go to EON/Sony and it just says 'Coming Soon' :))
