Yes, Tommy 'Pinball Wizard' played by Roger Daltrey, Elton John provided the music, they did a movie about it

I also thought the sinking house in Venice, was above all ridiculous, how deep are the freakin' canals there, not much deeper than Amsterdam I believe (or immediate water vicinity), what a dumb ass sequence, one for the popcorn brigade and no mistake, spoilt an otherwise serious (Craig) release

They could of left the rally car chase out of OHMSS, was that even needed?

The whole 'end volcano' in You Only Live Twice, just drags on and on, and gets a bit tiring also I found from previous viewings. Never understood the appeal for it

Or at least lose the silly music that goes along with that scene, and the Banjo music when they get to Goldfinger's ranch.

Oh goodness, I despise that barn scene with the worst Bond girl and one of the worst Bond music cues in history.

That long 2 hour and 15 minute scene with Pierce in that one movie..

Most of the Cold war Kerim Bey stuff in FRWL. Cut about 15 minutes of that movie and It would be my favorite. It is great, but It drags.

The whole dropping of 'Stafrod' down the chimney stack in FYEO pre title sequence, get rid of it......'Keep your hair on', etc, just a stupid, asinine sequence, that trivializes the seriousness of Tracy's demise in OHMSS and subsequent grave visit, they should of cut that out, they can stuff their 'Stanless Steel Delicatessens'

Looks like we have another 'Brosnan basher' in our midst too.. But if you refer to the Irishman in Tomorrow Never Dies, then fair enough I say

Yeah a crappy sequence that still leaves us without a satisfactory conclusion to the whole Tracy storyline. Mind you its better than the 'bathosub' shambles. Without doubt the weakest 'climax' of any Bond film.

Although the one good thing about Stafrods demise in FYEO is it was EON sticking two fingers up to Mcclory so for that reason alone I'm glad its included even if they turn old Staffers death into a joke with the delicatessen line.

Goldeneye was great, but it wasnt because of him..

he was alright, better than I could do.lol.

I loved the "Man talk' scene with Dink. It is funnier when you think about the editor adding the extra loud slapping sound!!!

I'd slap a girl on the butt if I could get away with it. That is an improtant part of the series for me: The way Bond treats women..

I also love the shower scene in TB

Although I've visited the place and am a great admirer of it, I'm no expert on Venice, but I do know it's an island that sits in a lagoon and, no doubt, contains tunnels etc. under certain buildings, so who knows how deep some could sink? You might find that someone in the know would verify a building like that sinking in that way is quite conceivable. Or not. ;)

Oh, and the volcano climax to Twice drags on? Sacrilege. Pure sacrilege! :p

As to what I'll offer up for this thread... well, I'll say practically every scene in LTK. No, make that every scene in LTK. No, just make that LTK... :-q

You've stumbled onto quite the conspiracy there. Look at their news section; "A new way to visualize the global arms trade" "Our roots go global"

If this isn't a cover for SPECTRE I don't know what is.

Actually Tommy was an album by The Who, released in 1969; it is one of the greatest rock albums, ever. Pete Townshend decided on working on a full length album, Tommy, after his success on A Quick One, 1966. It branched out after Pete’s work on a mini-story, or “mini opera”, telling the story of a girl who’s unfaithful with Ivor the Engine Driver, whilst her lover is away. I think Keith Moon dubbed it a “rock opera”, taking the piss out of other bands concept albums, and of course Pete. The album, Tommy, was in written, for the most by Pete, with contributions from Moon and John Entwistle, the legendary bassist for The Who.

The film was released in 1975, and featured Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson and Tina Turner.

In the words of Alan Partridge, “Don’t get Bond wrong!”, or in my case “Don’t get The Who wrong!”

I'd like to lose every scene with Tanya Roberts in AVTAK and every scene with Goodnight in TMWTGG. Or atleast cast a more charismatic* actress.

    *= less irritating.

I don't think Moneypenny was up to that in an above response, at least not in a family friendly film release :-<

Things that could of been left out of Bond releases ?, sounds so familiar, but in any event, -

Awful stupid sound effects as Connery obliterates a poor spider with his shoe in Doctor No

Said awful stupid sound effects as Moore and (Clifton) James goes for a somersault in Golden Gun, maybe even omit the whole scene even

    Anything featuring Halle Berry

    Anything featuring Denise Richards

    Anything featuring Lois Chiles

The whole idea of 'James Bond goes into outer space' in Moonraker

Jill St John can't handle a machine gun in Diamonds are Forever

The return of Richard Kiel in Moonraker

The whole 'Karate school' epsiode in Golden Gun, and subsequent fight with Hip girls and Bond

Tank chase through Saint Petersburg seems a bit stupid sometimes, but we'll leave it be

Moore and Roberts in the shower at the end of a View to a Kill. The least said, the better

Jaws falling on to Circus Tent at the end of Moonraker PTS

The Zambora Incident in Diamonds are Forever, what was that about

All the underwater scenes from For Your Eyes Only. Damn boring

All the underwater scenes from Thunderball. As above

The whole 'Saint Marks Square bullshit sequence from Moonraker', but leave in the pigeon

James Bond 'jungle escape' from the Monsoon Palace, Octopussy

The whole elevator/fire/Roberts screaming from A View to a Kill

Sir Godfrey Tibbett meets a demise in a French car wash

Franz Sanchez and his stupid Iguana

Colonel Heller gets impaled on a fork lift truck

The whole chase with the tanker trucks in License to Kill

James Bond sniffing shoes in old Q stock room in Die Another Day

The Invisible Car idea from that release

Any scene with Johnathan Pryce saying 'Delicious'

Dalton and d'Abo on the Ferris Wheel at the Prater Fair, Vienna

Connery and Blackman rolling around in a barn

The two gypsy girls fighting, From Russia With Love, leave in subsequent attack by Krilencu forces

'Get your clothes on and I'll buy you an Ice Cream' - For Your Eyes Only

All of Bond at the Eiffel Tower, Paris, a View to a Kill

all of Grace Jones in above release

the 'Keystone Cops' of the San Francisco Police Department, same release

Bond and the Beach Boys surfing sequence, same movie

Bond and Octopussy on the boat at the end of said movie

the whole chase through the streets of India and ridiculous action sequences, Octopussy

Moore and Chiles 'attempting re-entry', Moonraker

The jump off the mountain at the start of The Spy Who Loved Me

John Cleese demonstrates his 'new coat' for Bond with embarrassing results

Brosnan and Berry 'Diamonds navel scene', end of Die another Day

Brosnan and Richards 'fireworks and turkey', end of The World Is Not Enough

Bond at the Tosca opera in Bergenz, Austria. Stupid idea

Dalton and Milovy ride in a cello case towards the Czech/Austrian border

Appearance of Blofeld ?, at the start of For Your Eyes Only, just omit the whole damn lot

James Bond turning Japanese in You Only Live Twice

James Bond jetpack in Thunderball. Damn stupid

The whole 'Pipeline sequence' of Bond in Diamonds are Forever, when Wint and Kidd try another elaborate (and stupid) death

The 'inflate killing' of Doctor Kananga in Live and Let Die

The 'genitals violation' of Bond by LeChiffre, Casino Royale

The whole second half of Tomorrow Never Dies

(This is just a small number of events and things I would of raced to leave out, but there you are)

Er, do you actually like Bond?!
  • The jet-pack was awesome.

All of the following Roger Moore Jokes:

    The clown suit

    The Tarzan yell.

The Clusoeau impression on the firetruck

    "Sit!" at the tiger.

Roger Moore 'Bond' films in general.

@Tony Thank you for such a fun topic! I definitely have a scene off the top of my head. The boat chase scene in Live and Let Die. That scene just did not belong anywhere in that movie. At least not the way it was handled.

The boat chase goes on forever, and is seriously lacking in music.

Jaws dying in the MR PTS would have been the perfect capper.

I agree, and even though the boat chase is iconic now and is the trademark of LALD, I too thought it was quite dragging, especially the police bits with Sherriff Pepper and his squad. Those parts seriously have no business being in the movie, and detract from the matter at hand, the actual CHASE! Thus, the parts we do get of the actual boat chase are lacking due to having to make up for time lost on the police bits. I wish it had been better handled, with more emphasis on the action!
  • The boat bits would have been better if Pepper was replaced with music instead.

While I like CR the "sinking house scene" is too much not unlike the final airplane scene in DAD. AFter all the stories about changing the direction it would have been brilliant to use the acting skills of Craig to stay closer to the book with him reacting to the delivered message of Mathis of Vespers suicide. And then getting the sms and the mr. WHite scene to finish it of. That would have made the movie an instant classic. imho

GF is perfect, the younger generation are in the opinion that classics need to be done as recent actioners should be made: large and stupid. :D

I'd kind of prefer it if GF was a little bit more lively, instead of having Bond captured thoughout half the film. What did Richard Maibaum do when he sat down to write the script, think, "How can we make a James Bond movie where Bond isn't the real star? Let's make him a captive from the halfway point on! Oh, and to top it all off, let's put in a mute Korean who's only special because of his hat!"

    Classic = Always Good? Wrong!

Dr No/You Only Live Twice – the countdown in the films climax.

Thunderball – remove the decade worth of tedious footage, of frogmen nailing a sodding net in place.

Diamonds Are Forever – Moonbuggy chase; Plenty O Toole - I can’t believe Bond would be interested in someone so dumb; Norman Burton as Leiter; “comedy” police men; Blofeld in drag

Live and Let Die – Most of Sherriff Bloody Pepper’s scenes; Mrs Bell scenes

The Man With The Golden Gun – again Sherriff Pepper’s scenes – again; two teenage girls defeating an entire dojo; locking Goodnight in a closet while Bond gets groiny is unforgivable; slide whistle sound effects during the Corkscrew jump.

Moonraker – remove Jaws from the PTS; the entire boat chase and subsequent “Bondola “ travesty; Jaws falling in love with Dolly.

For Your Eyes Only – Thatcher

Octopussy- Tarzan yell; the crowds doing a Wimbledon during the Tux-Tux chase

A View To A Kill – again the “comedy” Sherriff during the fire engine chase; Beach Boys in the PTS

The Living Daylights –the monkeys/crowds scenes – a throwback to the Moore era

GoldenEye – most of Boris’s dialogue, especially when we first meet the Severnaya staff “Slugs!”; some action scenes need trimming down i.e. tank chase

The World Is Not Enough – Sir Rog said about cinema acting; your eyebrow moves about 20 feet in the cinema when your up on screen. I don’t think anyone told Pierce.

Die Another Day - Madonna cameo; recast Zao; remove the whole CGI debacle; trimming down the climax; get rid off Graves’ RoboSuit.

Casino Royale - Sinking house - less is sometimes better - do it like the book

Quantum of Solace – parachute jump
