Awesome! I bought all the OG films last Thursday. My OCD will force me to also buy KOTCS for completion, but DOD I’m happy to be able to buy, even if it’s not on the same level as the original three. An additional decent Indy film is better than nothing :)

I hate to ask you, but what are the "OG" films? And who is this "OCD" forcing something on your? And yes, I know what KOTCS and of course DOD are. It's just the other two abbreviations that keep me wondering.

I get were you’re coming from ; the first three films are definitely OG and my OCD tendency forces me to be a completist and buy the other two films. 😏

OG = original, meaning the original three films in this context

What can I say, I have to have completion about certain stuff! I’m just not as big of a fan of KOTCS. But it would feel too strange to me for it to be the one movie omitted from my collection, skipping from TLC to DOD.

I know, just poking you a bit ; OG is a slang I found it defined as. “ OG,' an abbreviation for 'Original Gangster,' is far removed from its gritty origins in 90s hip-hop culture and now signifies authenticity and originality on the interwebs. In the world of social media, it typically refers to someone who has been around for a long time or has achieved a sort of revered veteran status..”
OCD stands for “ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Thanks @talos7, though I'm not sure it helps whenever I try to comment on this subject.

@j_w_pepper, weren't you my OG C.O. in NAM? CIA listed you as MIA but the VA ID'd you and so we put out an APB. Or maybe I'm wrong and it's my OCD speaking.

I just finished reading the Crystal Skull novelization. It was more enjoyable than the movie. I couldn’t put it down at times. Indy truly deserves a book series, again. I wouldn’t mind seeing spin-offs of Marion, Helena and surprisingly, Mutt. Great escapism, for a few days. Cate Blanchett and Irina Spalko could easily be written as Bond villains.

Yes I'd like to see what a really good writer could do with it; something witty and funny and clever.
    Comics would be good too.

Just discovered by chance that DOD is coming out on 4K, BD and DVD on 8 December. Needless to say, I (pre-)ordered immediately from amazon.de (the BD). Just still no sign of a soundtrack on CD. Since there seems to be that "score-only" option on the BD, I may just have to make an analogue copy of it and turn it into FLAC.

Disney has announced a box set of all five soundtracks on CD, coming out in March for the outrageous price of $150.

If that was a vinyl set I could understand the pricing.

I actually decided to stop collecting CDs this year. For the last few years I would buy a CD and then just rip it onto a lossless format where I’ll play them via Bluetooth. I think the last time I ever actually played a CD for listening was when I still had a vehicle that had a CD player. After that, the only reason I would buy CDs was just so that I would have a hard copy at hand and consider them collectibles.

Shortly later my dad passed away and one of the things I was able to procure was his record player, along with his collection of vinyls. Since then I’ve been buying vinyls for myself.

That is an outrageous price, and the original trilogy make up 3 of my all time favorite soundtracks haha. Nice and tidy looking set, but way too much indeed.

It does look a nice set, I have some of the scores already though would be tempted to buy that CD box set if and when there is a price drop.

Watched this 12/1 when it debuted online- thought it was great. Don't get the pushback on this one.

Because everyone has their own preconceptions of what an Indiana Jones film should be, and a somber film with an emotionally beaten Indiana Jones grieving over the loss of his only son was not really something they were looking for.

I don't dislike the film, but I totally get the division. And of course there's The Fandom Menace, but they're a predictable incel bunch.

Finally finished it with family on a rewatch over the holiday. It was fine... my favorite part was the ending (not being funny). A lot I would have done differently, even with what they went with to be fair (I would have done the big... thing... early in the movie and had Indy's problem be trying to find a way back), but it did not feel like even a hint of the first three to me, which yes, is what I want and expect from this brand.
I want a movie were Indy is fighting a group of Nazis back in time, his ultimate endgame has to be to destroy the machine, and we learn that Indiana stays behind to become THE Archimedes (which just means planner). First act is getting to the Nazi machine and time traveling. Second act is problem-solving the new circumstances and tracking down the scragggler nazis in the new time, and third act is Indy discovering HE is the great Archimedes, and he has to help Sicily win the coming battle to get back to the time machine, but he realizes if he goes back, he gives it back to the nazis, so he instead he destroys it, and its what turns away the invasion.

I finished the novelizations of the original trilogy, on New Year's Eve. Greatly enjoyable. It actually saddens me that Lucasfilm didn't keep Indy going as a book series. There is A LOT of potential for Indy to succeed in today's audience to enjoy. I also enjoyed the Crystal Skull novelization and The Army of the Dead by Steve Perry. I wish that Dial of Destiny would have been made into a novelization, Lucasfilm does it for almost all their other movies.

I would love a properly good Indy original novel, I don't think any book has quite got it right so far.

I would like Lucasfilm to give it a chance. Indy could survive as a character in the modern day as well. I've got some story ideas for books, particularly with Marion.

Vatican break-in and investigation? Shows a map of the city and the passport suggests he's headed to Rome.

Indy in the Vatican would be epic.
