I concur. I loved the original but Fincher does it justice. And Rooney Mara is superb! Love that title sequence too!
I didn't notice that. It's based on a 1991 book that's been adapted by a guy who died in 2009? I'm guessing Mann has been sitting on this one and cooking it up for way longer than I realized then.

I'm afraid I still haven't seen the original trilogy but I hear it sticks much closer to the source material than Fincher's version did. I've only read the first book myself and some of the second one.
Well, the “is that…godzilla?” line was cringeworthy for its redundancy. But the imagery is compensatory :)
Even though MINUS ONE is NOT a follow-on to 2016's SHIN GODZILLA - which was a great film IMO - I'm really looking forward to this.

Of note, I attended a near sell-out 35mm screening of 2OO1 last week, and the 70mm screening on Sunday (9/3) at the re-opened Paris Theater was a complete sellout. Good times.
I noticed that too at my local one in Virginia. I'd love to see FMJ in theaters.
Just so you know, this movie has been in development for eight years. It was originally announced in 2015 and was going to be produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, but after the original game series' developer Scott Cawthon read the draft scripts, he instantly rejected it, because in his words, he wanted to make a movie the fans deserved.
However, Warner didn't just sit idly by and since they had the rights to Hanna Barbera's properties, this is came out:

My girlfriend introduced me to the world through Ponyo and I loved it so much. Have yet to see the other one.

From what I've read, he's eyeing Paul Walter Hauser for a lead, it's rumored that Samuel L. Jackson is guaranteed a role, and Tarantino is really eager, if he and his family are up for it, to have Bruce Willis in a small appearance.

Is this supposed to be a sequel to the more recent one or something else entirely? I didn't waste my time on that one, looked awful, but I do love Duchovny so might need to give this a watch one day.
I have only seen the original film from the 1980's so not sure how it ties in, as its Halloween in a month or so i will give a few horror film's a go.
During the 80's i often rushed out to rent the next Stephen King film adaption, that waned in the 90's as the quality started to drop. I still have not watched the two IT films released a few years back, I would like to see them at some point. I have only watched half of Doctor Sleep I bought the extended cut, I will have to rewatch that film from the start at some point.
