A Hasbro toy launch has confirmed that Helena's surname is Shaw.

So any 'leak' that says she's called Helena Brody: that'll be a lie.

Will the toy have Phoebe’s birthmark painted on it?
  • It's now February, so I would imagine the marketing machine for IJATDOD will start moving in the not-too-distant future. For those of you who are more familiar with marketing, do you have any idea when we might expect an official poster? Or a new trailer?

Not that I'm impatient or anything :)

There's a new promo coming up for the Superbowl, which is pretty soon I think.

I always thought it was the first Sunday in February. I don't remotely follow football so there's that.

Guessing by “starts with” it is meant that’s where the present timeline of the story begins, and the movie itself has a cold open set in the past.
  • Hunter College? Shouldn't it be Marshall College?

No, he's teaching in the middle of NYC itself this time. There were signs for the college up in Glasgow when they were shooting.

Oh, that's right! I knew that and completely forgot. Thanks for the memory refresher!

Regardless of how I felt about that initial trailer, I'll be there in theaters day one for this. I really want it to rock and succeed.

Same here. Only film to make me go see it in a cinema since NTTD. And SP before that.

Agreed 100%. There seems to be a faction of so-called "fans" on the Internet that want this film to fail. I would argue that these are not fans, because if they were, they would only want the best. They would want the movie to be great and dominate at the box office. Personally, I'm hoping this movie is fantastic, makes boatloads of money, and shuts all the haters up.

Or people just have opinions that don't happen to align with yours. I don't think everything is a conspiracy.

Wanting a film to be a failure is not a matter of opinion. It's just being negative because negativity sells. On the other hand, if people go see this movie and genuinely dislike it, by all means, that is definitely their opinion and I would not argue it.

Who wants it to fail? Or do they just not like the cast, setting, director, and rumored plot synopsis? There's a difference. Besides, very few have the power to torpedo a movie on their own. I'll say... the movie doesn't look good to me. I don't care if it succeeds or fails, it's a movie. I care if it's good. I'm not going to blindly support anything, but that's me.

It this a fanbase or a cult? Some fans may not like what they see, in that case yes, they likely expect it to fail, and glibly may "want" it to so that they get the Indiana Jones _they_ want.

There will always be a select group of folks wanting to see any particular sequel/prequel/property fail, for whatever reason. It's usually a tiny yet very vocal minority that becomes amplified. I didn't love that first trailer but am desperately hopeful that the film itself is great and have no hopes for it to bomb.

I think some people, those who "want it to fail" likely understand or believe that Hollywood learns its lessons through money. The box office is the only thing that matters, the most direct way to communicate demand for something. Attacking the box office is an obvious strategy if you want to send a message.

I wonder what Ford would have said in 1980 if you'd told him that he'd still be playing Indiana Jones in 2023.
