Currently on saga re-watch its the first time I have seen the earlier films in 4K, I really enjoyed the prequel trilogy, there is so much more going on in those films than the sequels and they feel like SW films at least to me.

The pod race from TPM in 4K and Dolby Atmos is pretty awesome, I was on the edge of my seat whilst watching it or rather experiencing it.

Watched that Lego Holiday Special earlier today. It's cute. Basically A Christmas Carol in the style of a Star Wars adventure.

47 minutes instead of two hours like that dreadful special from 1978.
  • My ranking is:
    Empire
    Hope
    Revenge of the Sith
    Return of the Jedi
    Phantom Menace
    Force Awakens
    Rise of Skywalker
    Last Jedi
    Attack of the Clones

Hastily put together and it’s been a while since I’ve watched anything in my lower ranking so it’s subject to change. Hopefully not too many people are triggered by a prequel film topping an OT film. ;)

It’s not that bad. Someone I know has a New Hope as their least favourite. It’s not a big deal what your ranking is, despite what many fans might say.

I dream of making a wearable Boba Fett suit in the style of the holiday special (to go along with my ESB Fett)... others have done it and it looks amazing!

Don't know why it's not letting me embed these photos.

    Robert Rodriguez
    @Rodriguez
I am truly humbled to say I have now had the very rare privilege of directing the biggest star in the universe.

The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars since ROTJ.
    I has spoken. ;)

It is some of the best if not the best Star Wars we’ve seen since the original trilogy, for sure. Favreau really knows what he’s doing.

As I said above, he should get the chance to direct one of the future movies.

Isn’t Rian Johnson doing all three in the next trilogy?

Having recently watched The Last Jedi, i hope not.

It was the plan back in 2017. It's been quiet since then.
I believe the next film was to be stand alone, in 2022, but it was already pushed to Dec 2023.

This was the first link when I googled Rian Johnson Trilogy, but there were quite a few links.
Fair enough Shaken, I didn’t look at dates.
  • No worries! I'm totally fine if they don't do any films for 10 years. Sequel trilogy really underwhelmed once it was over. Loving The Mandolorian, and it seems the future of Star Wars will be seen on streaming for the next couple years.

Yeah, personally I’d be fine if The Mandalorian was the last Star Wars we ever got. Obi Wan I guess is next, but McGregor’s Obi Wan in the prequels was good enough for me. Not looking forward to watching him futz around in the desert until Luke grows up.
  • Same, at least it will be a limited series, so as long as it is a story worth telling! The wild card is the Rogue One prequel series.. That I'm not sure about, hopefully Diego Lunas character is more interesting..

Just watched The Mandalorian S2 Ep4 Chapter 12 well that was an amazing chase sequence, so much greatness in this show. Carl Weathers directed excellent job.

Just watched The Mandalorian S2 Ep5 Chapter 13 Brilliant episode with some good forward momentum and a major character revealed to be involved. This show is what the sequels should have been.

Ah, but then we would have never gotten this show.

The Mandalorian, once finished, will be a great way to end the Machete Viewing Order.

    Rogue One
    A New Hope
    Empire Strikes Back
    Phantom Menace
    Attack of the Clones
    Revenge of the Sith
    Return of the Jedi
    The Mandalorian

Capping off the series with The Child seems very fitting to me, depending on how it all resolves itself.

Despite really enjoying Solo, I find it hard to include in this order because it would either come before or after Rogue One (after? probably?) and mess up the tension building around R1 and ANH.

I don't mind the sequels as much as others, but I'm very happy to exclude them entirely here.

    I’d exclude the prequels.

It adds a lot of weight to the redemption of Darth Vader to see the fall.
I may concede that there is one too many prequels in the above, but Revenge of the Sith is required.

The prequels are so poorly written, acted and directed I can’t go with any of them. Besides, the OT works perfectly fine without the prequels so I’m more than okay leaving out the dregs of the franchise.

The OT does work perfectly fine without the prequels. Despite the obvious flaws in the prequels, I do think there's still value. And I think overall, there's a richer story to be told if you include the story told in the prequels, for the most part. But that's just my opinion.

Watched the latest Mando. The reliance in EU stuff, which I have zero interest in, really put me off this episode.

I mean, at the end of the day, you could just endlessly rewatch the Original Trilogy, it'll always be there. But if they're going to create new and interesting stories, they're inevitably going to have to create new and interesting characters.

I've never seen a minute of Clone Wars or Rebels (I've actually participated in the Extended Universe extraordinarily little) but
Ahsoka's impact in the latest episode was still felt and she was still a great addition as a new character.

I feel like you also don't need to have any idea who Grand Admiral Thrawn is to understand that he represents some sort of large threat when brought up in this episode. Just pretend they're all brand new characters and you'll be just fine.

The one thing I didn't love in this most recent episode is that they gave The Child a name, lol. Makes him less mysterious.
