I actually like it, though I have some notes:
Considering it's following the second longest gap in the series, most of which has been plagued by 'who should replace Daniel B.S." this poster desperately needs a "DANIEL CRAIG IS JAMES BOND" credit above the title.
Also, where's the PPK? He could use a little sparkle in his eyes, and we could have gotten something similar to the NSNA early poster.

I can imagine Cary Fukunaga saying to Daniel: "look apprehensive!" and they took a photo.

Fukunaga then said "right, that will do as the poster. I'm off to play more Call of Duty!"

    :-j

I don’t think he’s even posing for the photo though: it appears to be a still from the filming. The photo is ordinary, just lit by ambient light.

As a designer this has the whiff of the client seeing an image they like and getting fixated on it, saying ‘that’s the poster right there; just put a title on it’ leaving the designer nowhere to go. It’s just... not a poster. It looks more like an editorial page from a film magazine.

I'm a designer as well, and I agree - it does look a bit like an editorial piece with the typography and logos added. Nobody would have reacted negatively if this was just a part of a magazine spread.

Yeah it’d be quite a nice page. But it’s not a poster. At best it’s a lobby card (remember them?)! :)

Yes! It could be an OK lobby card - I think I have a few CR ones in a box, and if I remember correctly, there were a few of them that weren't really that interesting (much like this poster).

I didn’t realise they were still doing them for CR.

Bond without the gun - worst idea EVER.

It's a terrible poster. Cheap, nasty, lacks imagination. Amateurish even. I've seen better student film posters.

The type face is way too big for the composition of the image, and the image itself isn't particularly inspiring either. Craig is pulling a weird expression, and there is nothing in the backdrop that is attractive either.

Easily one of the worst teaser campaign posters I've seen for any major Hollywood release, not just for the Bond franchise. How this got the green light by all the top execs beats the hell out of me. Who could honestly look at that image and say `Yes, brilliant! This is the best we can offer as a teaser poster! Doesn't get any better than this!'

    Utter shambles.

I love it. It's slightly off-kilter, and I think that's intentional. I think we're in for a very different ride this time. Well done. :')

Several people have mentioned Daniel's expression and specifically his eyes; these were the first things that struck me as "off" about this poster. While it is not an inspired design by any means, a more intense, determined look, with hint of mischief in his eyes would have helped immensely.

Haven't seen them since, so that might be the last time. Could be wrong about this though.

I agree. I’ve seen significantly better fan arts than this.

I’m cool with doing something “different,” but it still has to be good. The only way this is good is if it becomes a series of teaser posters with Craig walking out the doorway into the street pointing his gun with a cool backdrop. Otherwise it’s just a generic picture with title over it.

Eon are seriously overpaying whoever these people are producing this? Casino Royale is head and shoulders above all the other DC films. Skyfall teaser would be my 2nd choice.

They must’ve cut the advertising department budget as well. They hired a 16 year old with a pirated copy of Photoshop to paste some text over a production still is what it looks like.

Not even Photoshop. It looks like its been created in Microsoft Paint by a 6 year old.

As much as I’m a personal fan, I can’t wait to get my hands on some stills so I can create my own stuff.

How on earth did they think that picture of Daniel with that expression and unflattering angle was worth being on the first poster they would show of their first Bond film in four years? It truly baffles me. I was so embarrassed of it that I didn't even show it to anyone today, not even to my wife. It's that bad. I usually use the teaser as a wallpaper immediately. I think I'll keep the one I currently have, made by our very own @Denbigh.

What I find peculiar is that Empire Design hasn't posted the poster anywhere themselves. Meanwhile, photographer Greg Williams calls this poster "My new poster for #NoTimeToDie" on Instagram. This makes me wonder if Empire Design hasn't had anything to do with this teaser.

I feel the same. When they released the photo of Craig in his dark shades, grey suit, striding confidently I couldn't share it enough, not so with this.

You're right. Well, it's their text over Greg's picture, so who knows? Maybe he only asked for permission on using their font.

I actually think it’s far more interesting than the last few. The SP one is shite - it looks like someone’s turned up for their school photo with a holster. His expression in this, to me, is very much, ‘Who’s this c***?’.

Could be. Seems strange if Empire Design haven't been involved, but given that the poster looks very much like a movie still with the title logo and typography added, maybe their designers weren't needed for this particular piece.

This is Empire Design's project page for NTTD. You'd think anything they've done for the film will be included here (like any other project on their page). If this teaser isn't included there at any point, then it's very likely a confirmation it's done by Greg Williams alone (or in collaboration with someone else).

Edit: If he's the type to respond to Instagram messages/comments, maybe Greg Williams can confirm if he's done it with or without Empire Design?

Yes, someone on instagram could ask him. I'm not, so I can't, but it's a stellar idea as I think he's probably reachable/approachable.

Here, I just put as much effort into this as EON did:SVjwkrH_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium

Ask yourselves how, if you're calling this a "poster" you are not seeing a poster?

This "poster" is a digital image for digital distribution. And that makes all the difference. It isn't really supposed to be a poster.

    Welcome to the 21st century.

When has poster ever been indicative of a film’s quality? Never. Quite the opposite. Like wading through the crèche on here.
