I realize that it may be too late to make it into this round of games we are deciding right now, but as I was watching Octopussy tonight, I came up with a great idea for a new game: The Great James Bond Escape Game It's simple really, Bond has been captured many times by his enemies, and placed in many other seemingly impossible situations. The point of this game will be to determine the greatest escape Bond ever made on film. I'll try to post a list by Friday morning, but again, I assume that it will not be picked up until the next round of games. Bond Intro's and Casino Scenes seem to have it right now...
  • Seems as if we should run those two games and get on with it.

so since I came up with the Casino Idea I am thinking of bending it slightly so it's not too short a game and basically just the gambling sequences (be it at a casino or not)

Casino Royale 54 - Bond Versus Le Chiffe
Dr. No - Bond Versus Trench
Goldfinger - Bond stops Goldfinger's card cheating scheme
Goldfinger - Bond Versus Goldfinger in Golf (they technically gamble on the scene)
Thunderball - Bond Versus Largo in Cards
On Her Majesties secret Service - Bond saves Tracy
Diamonds are Forever- Bond in Vegas
The Man with the Golden Gun - Bond investigates Andrea Anders
For Your Eyes Only- Bond Versus Bunky
Octopussy - Bond Versus Khamel Khan
NSNA - Bond Plays Video Games
A view to a Kill - Bond bets on Zorin's Horse
Licence to Kill - Bond plays Blackjack
    Goldeneye - Bond Versus Xenia
The World is Not Enough - Valintine's big pay off
Die another Day - Bond Versus Graves (fencing)
Casino Royale - Bond versus dimitrios
Casino Royale - Bond Versus Le Chiffe part 1 (bond loses
Casino Royale - Bond versus Le Chiffe Part 2 Bond wins
    Skyfall - Bond meets Servine

still is kind of a small game but Shrugs I also included NSNA and CR 54 not including 67 because was any gambling done in that film I am pretty sure not.

Once I get a majority approval for the list above or edit so it meets approval) then I will start the game

Bond does play cards with Solitaire on the train at the end of LALD which leads to the fight with Tee-Hee Johnson...do you want to include that @Risico007 ?

Live aand let Die -Bond and Solitare plays Gyn Rummy

You might be better off with Bond at the Sumo in YOLT or at the Thai Boxing fight in TMWTGG...people around him are making and taking bets, even if Bond himself isn't, @Risico007 ?

If indeed two games will be run I guess I would have to run the James Bond Introduction game as it was my idea.

That's a Connery homebanker if it's based on the first time we see each actors Bond.

Not so sure about that, Craig will undoubtably challenge Connery, except for Dr. No I think. Also Dalton has very strong first scenes in my opinion. And Moore as well actually. We will see.

So is it the first time we see the new actor as Bond ,or each time he says 'Bond James Bond' per film ?

I guess if you include the fencing scene, you can also include the horse chase between Bond and Zorin...

    Hey, MODS!

The results are daft, but pretty clear. Use your power.

Bond's first appearance in the movie, Bond as a character. So FRWL will not be him in the PTS for instance.

I will make a list of what I think is reasonable for every film, once I have been greenlighted for doing it. At the moment the CASINO game is in the lead and I think that should be done first.

Aaah in that case i got the wrong end of the stick, anyone could win it...sounds a great game matey !!

  • I think going with pure casino scenes is the best move. The other betting scenes are too different and in some cases totally inferior.

Then lald and AVTAK should be out

My defense of the list as stated is that, if the "Non- Casino" scenes are truly that inferior, they will be illuminated first. The best way to look at the game is: " The James Bond Gambeling Scene"/, am i right?

They are, however are we not still discussing how one of these games will work?

Who will be hosting said games?

Seconded. I appreciate the thought of trying to incorporate some other forms of gaming into the mix, but I'd prefer if we just stuck with casinos for this one.

Then Sir Roger is first out....alas,and Dan wins due to the time involved in the casino...game over.

So ladies and gents, are any of these games ready to go?
  • edited October 2016 Posts: 2,189
I could launch this tomorrow, but it doesn't seem like much of a game, only 13 entries...

OHMSS - Bond and Tracy become "partners" when she can't pay up

TMWTGG - Andrea Anders pays off Lazar at the bottoms up
FYEO - Bond beats Bunky and takes the Countess
OP - Bond beats Khamel Khan with his own special dice
LTK - Bond wins big at blackjack until Lupe arrives
Goldeneye - Bond and Xina share passions at Chemin de faire
TWINE - Electra pays of Valintine at Vanti Un
Casino Royale - Bond beats Dimitrios with trip Aces
Casino Royale - Bond loses to Le Chiffe's bluff
Casino Royale - Bond beats Le Chiffe with a straight flush

A quick one then. Should just get it started otherwise the planning will take longer than the actual game!

Nothing wrong with a quickie every once in a while.

I prefer a straight casino game because that's the game I voted for.

How quick a game is, depends on how many points you start with, the number of entries and how many players there are.

I can start the "first appearance by Bond" game if that is desired.
But as I said do the Casino one first by all means.

I say go for it if you're ready Jason. Generally 2 on the go at a time anyway, and I'm sure the casino game won't be far behind.
  • Ok, if I get two members to approve this list, with the numbers as I've posted them, then I will publish the game today, it's all ready to go. Any takers? Do you approve?
