Has Bond Been Shot before 'Skyfall'?

I was trying to recall if Bond has ever been shot before 'Skyfall'? I know he's been knifed, kicked, bruised etc... but can't recall if he's actually been shot in a movie.

He got shot in the ankle or foot at the Junkanoo in Thunderball. I'm guessing it was just a graze though. I'm not sure if he's been shot in the novels.

In the movie DN isn't it implied that he was shot in the past due to his faulty Beretta?

In the film, M doesn't go into details of how Bond ended up in hospital for 6 months, other than the gun jamming. It does seem likely that he was shot, although it would be great to get some clarity on the matter.

In the novel From Russia With Love Bond had a silencer on his gun when he met Rosa Klebb, hence it jammed/got stuck in his waistband of his trousers, allowing Klebb to poison him.

In the follow up novel, Dr No Bond spent 6 months in hospital following his poisoning. Thus M orders Bond to change guns, from the Bereta to the Walther.

In the film Dr No it has the gun changing scene, but not the explanation, just M's comment "you spent 6 months in hospital.."

I doubt it would take Bond 6 whole months to recover from a gunshot, come now... maybe his gun jammed and in the heat of a firefight he fell down a flight of stairs, breaking many bones, maybe his neck, and had to be rehabilitated. This is part of my prequel to Dr. No I am writing (with Craig in mind), DYING FOR TODAY. Its a fan script dealing primarily with Bond's character development.

Well, it depends where he got shot and with what, bit it could easily take that long to recover.

Other than TB and SF, there really are no other accounts of "movie Bond" being shot, which I've always thought is kind of interesting, considering the fact that many of the movies try to focus on his vulnerability.

I think there's a good reason for it: gunshot wounds are often severe. Look at what it lead to in SF and even then he got off easy. if he was shot more often, he'd spend most of the movies on a hospital bed.

He got shot up in YOLT movie, but that was fake, staged.

He sure got shot up in William Boyd's Solo though.

Bond is actually shot with a poisoned bullet from a Derringer fired by Francisco Scaramanga near the end of the novel TMWTGG and needs hospital treatment as a result. Of course he is only shot in the side of the head while escaping the Castle of Death in Japan in YOLT and this was recreated in the PTS of SF.

Good catch, that SF/ YOLT parallel. I'm sure its been mentioned before, but it doesn't hurt to re-inforce such matters when topical. Helps keep the Bond IQ sharp.

Could we count Casino Royale? Bond was shot with the nail gun by Gettler and took a pretty nasty nail to the shoulder.

Another good example! If we broaden this definition of "shot", we could get a lot of instances included, hahaha \:D/

I think the nail gun counts as being shot sort-of, although being shot by a bullet is I think more to the matter at hand.
Tranquilizer gun in GF - I don't think so as its purpose was only to tranquilize not kill. But still worth tossing on table I think, to make a complete picture.

Yes, there aren't too many examples of him being shot in either the books or the films so runners up should at least be considered, I think!

Yes, I too was just thinking of that famous "shot" of poison from Colonel Rosa Klebb's bladed shoe that rounds off the end of the FRWL novel.
