    I saw both SF and SP the first day, so i could hopefully see it with some true fans.
    In SF, the bitch comment about M, What makes you think this is my first time, and the ejector seat gag, got major laughs.
    In SP i can't recall anything, sadly...

    Barely any laughs, and virtually zero claps at the end where I was, as busy as it was. Skyfall had the audience go nuts in the exact setting 3 years before. I couldn't wrap my head around it.

    Peeps want to feel sad at the end, then be picked up briefly. We are being groomed as a culture to expect no triumphs. Kudos to Mendes & Craig for going against the grain here!
  • I'm surprised so many fans rate the 3rd half, especially the entire Morocco sequence (l'Américain, train/fight sequence, Blofeld's lair, Blofeld's meteroid, torture sequence, lair destruction), so low. For me it was a highlight. Especially after the Austria sequence.

    Here is my updated list once again as of November 29th 2015. Can I say one thing? I'm surprised so many fans in here are chaning their rankings so much. For me SP will probably stay forever in 6th to 8th spot The film isn't a cultural, critical and financial phenomenon. But for me it's better than all of the four Brosnan films, and Moore's last outing:

    Masterpieces!!!:
    01 --> 9.5/10 --> 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'
    02 --> 9.3/10 --> 'From Russia With Love'
    03 --> 9.0/10 --> 'Skyfall'
    04 --> 8.8/10 --> 'Casino Royale'
    05 --> 8.3/10 --> 'Thunderball'
    06 --> 8.0/10 --> 'Doctor No'

    Good films!:
    07 --> 7.7/10 --> 'SPECTRE' (NEW !!)
    08 --> 7.4/10 --> 'Octopussy'
    09 --> 7.4/10 --> 'For Your Eyes Only'
    10 --> 7.3/10 --> 'The Living Daylights'
    11 --> 7.1/10 --> 'Goldfinger'
    12 --> 7.0/10 --> 'Licence To Kill'

    Average films:
    13 --> 6.7/10 --> 'The World Is Not Enough'
    14 --> 6.5/10 --> 'The Man With The Golden Gun'
    15 --> 6.3/10 --> 'Quantum Of Solace'
    16 --> 6.1/10 --> 'The Spy Who Loved Me'
    17 --> 6.0/10 --> 'Diamonds Are Forever'
    18 --> 5.8/10 --> 'Moonraker'

    Fun stuff for us Bond fans, but as a standalone film bad and sometimes even stomach-turning!:
    19 --> 5.6/10 --> 'Live And Let Die'
    20 --> 5.5/10 --> 'Never Say Never Again' (non-EON)
    21 --> 4.8/10 --> 'Tomorrow Never Dies'
    22 --> 4.5/10 --> 'You Only Live Twice'
    23 --> 4.2/10 --> 'GoldenEye'
    24 --> 3.4/10 --> 'A View To A Kill'
    25 --> 2.8/10 --> 'Die Another Day'
    26 --> 1.2/10 --> 'Casino Royale' (non-EON)

    But sometimes the light is a long way off. MOONRAKER shook me for decades. That was the first time that a Bond film disappointed me. I went to the next ten or so with zero expectations. It was the Craig era that got me back into it. Now, here we are again.
    It's hard for me to fathom how you view Spectre with such little esteem. I've read a bit of your posts and the points you make are valid. Last place in the rankings is like a court marshall and I'm just not convinced there is enough "evidence" to sentence it to last. Your other bottom dwellers, Die Another Day and Moonraker, have a distinct breach in placing Bond in any semblance of reality.

    One of Spectre's biggest problems is how it attempts to identify itself as a serious character drama and a more playful picture. It's fair to say that the conflict in narrative leads to its failure to fully succeed in either quality. However, it doesn't break the mold in either direction too far, resulting in an unconventionally balanced tone. The balance doesn't come from an enlightening moment in the film, but rather the things that are thrown in the film even each other out. At worst it really only belongs as a middling title. If it's last in your rankings because the sum of its parts equates to zero, I wonder how you are able to process some of the exceedingly ridiculous things in those other films.

    Sadly I'm with Birdleson on this one. There are many (too many to list) moments of brilliance in Spectre (and Skyfall) but as a whole, I did not have fun with either. At least I have fun with some of the other poorer entries in the series. Moonraker, for example, is completely ludricrous, and for a long time I thought Gilbert ruined the franchise, but when I watched them again I found his three movies to be entertaining which covered up their flaws. Barry's (and Hamlisch) rich soundtracks for his movies gave me chills. I will also add here that I feel the PTS of Moonraker is given an unfair bashing. QoS and SF had CGI falls, MR had 80+ REAL skydives for that incredible sequence.

    I also felt in SF and SP that the action fell flat (apart from the SF PTS), which might have been ok, except the soundtrack offers zero atmosphere. I'm sorry but recycled parts of the SF soundtrack is unacceptable especially when the original track wasn't that good in the first place. Imagine if Barry used Dawn Raid on Fort Knox in the Thunderball finale.

    What I do love about both films is they are visually beautiful and this is the best dialogue we've had in ages. I love most of the interplay between the characters and the humour.

    Finally the bolded paragraph is what is so frustrating about Spectre. I don't mind it being half serious and half playful (I love Octopussy) but it's missing the spectacle of Gilbert, action of Glen, music of Barry, and pacing of Campbell.

    I know it´s not a bad movie, but, in my opinion, it is the least entertaining oficial Bond movie, so many (and so long) underwater scenes bore me.

    I agree with you. It just drags on. I like some bits and pieces of the film but as a whole I honestly don't enjoy it much.

    DIE ANOTHER DAY is a weak Bond entry, true,but there are still some things to love there. That TRANSFORMERS (a film I would never have seen if my nephews hadn't wanted to go, I guess it was 2007) is one of the three or four worst films that I have seen in my life.

    I agree.
    I suppose the other three are its sequels? ;)

    Would I go to the sequels? On was that AVATAR piece of shit. I hate Cameron, yet I periodically get talked into going to see one of his abominations.
    The last thing Cameron directed that was great was the final episode of the Dark Angel series he was executive producing at the time. It made me forgive him for Titanic.

    It was torture to sit through, alone I would have walked out 15 minutes in (as I often do), but I was with a friend who wanted to stay all the way through. Horrible.

    AWESOME! Fellow that agrees Cameron is big-time overrated! Avatar is a bad film indeed - one of the most overrated works ever made. So glad you also think this.

    I didn't contribute to its "all time high" box office heist. Tried to watch it on television last year and couldn't even make it through to a commercial break.

    I am making some friends here :)) I also am glad to say I didn't see Avatar in the theater. If I have my way I'll never watch it again.

    i was literally dumbfounded by it's success.... and more over, i got sick of everyone calling Avatar such a "groundbreaking film"... i get it, from a technology stand point - in how they actually filmed the thing was pretty revolutionary - but 3D is old hat.. it's a gimmick... i might be wrong, but i don't see the current 3D being "the future of cinema" - it's a shallow cash grab, and if i heard correctly (again, could be wrong) but the number of 3D films being produced is going down year by year......

    It was a wonderful experience though. My first 3D film ever. And many comments were like "A true Efteling experience in cinema" (In case you don't know, 'The Efteling' is the critically acclaimed Dutch theme park that has won even more awards than the various Disney Resorts. Especially because of their amazing dark rides). I was completely overwhelmed by this film. Though many said the story was a bit too "Dances With Wolves" or "Star Trek: Insurrection", it worked tremendously because of the 3D experience. It actually made me think of our own planet....Because if a fantasy planet/moon can evoke such strong reactions, then you're being confronted equally with the beauty of our own planet Earth. So 3D is not just a cheap way of entertainment. With "Avatar" it was entirely used to give us a pure and very effective (sci-fi) message.

    Not a fan of 3D. Ruined my experience of Mad Max.

    AVATAR was a visual feast purely because of the novelty of the 3D technology. It had legs because of the word of mouth around that technology and how it had improved so much. Not really because the film was groundbreaking or anything like that. I caught it maybe over a month in because I just wanted to see what all the fuss was. I walked out of there thinking the technology was great and it showcased a poor film.

    Regarding DAD vs Transformers. It's a tough call. One has Halle. The other has Megan. I'll take Megan personally, but it's close.

    Even if I look at 2009 alone, I can find more than 10 films I enjoyed a lot more than Avatar. I got a bigger kick from Moon, Fast and Furious 4, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Terminator Salvation, Star Trek, District 9.. and this is just in the sci-fi/action/blockbuster genre that Avatar is part of!

    IMO 'The Hurt Locker' is one of the best movies of all time for sole purpose that it got the Best Picture Oscar instead of Avatar.

    Although SPECTRE is not quite in last place for me, still in the bottom five, I can certainly see why someone would place it dead last.
