    With the weekend marathon, I can actually say I am now quite confident in my list with a margin of error of ±3 for each film. I like to use descriptive stats, so I figured I would break down my interests into a few categories to see if it reflects anything about me.

    Rankings By Decade:
    1. 2010 (2.0)
    2. 1990 (9.0)
    3. 2000 (9.7)
    4. 1960 (10.0)
    5. 1980 (14.0)
    6. 1970 (17.4)

    Rankings By Bond:
    1. Craig (4.3)
    2. Connery (10.2)
    3. Brosnan (11.5)
    4. Lazenby (12.0)
    5. Dalton (15.5)
    6. Moore (16.1)

    Rankings By M:
    1. Dench (8.4)
    2. Lee (13.4)
    3. Brown (16.0)

    These rankings do indeed display my preferences. I was introduced to Bond in the 1990s and rank those favorably as a result. Though, Casino Royale is solely responsible for making the 2000s higher than the originals in the 1960s. The 1980s edge ahead of the 1970s because I have a higher appreciation for late Moore since he proved he could adapt his interpretation of the role when he was supposed to be past his prime, with the exception of A View To A Kill, and Dalton ranking high with his first outing in my rankings.

    In terms of actors, the two rankings are nearly perfect in displaying my preferences. The one note I have to add is that I have my doubts about Lazenby as a long-term Bond. I feel he has the weakest stage presence of the bunch. He had the benefit of starring in a good film that suited his delivery. The softness of his persona in comparison to other Bonds is well suited for On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Perhaps I am completely off-base in my analysis and he was a roughrider who had outstanding staying power. But on that one performance alone, it's difficult for me to say definitively if I prefer his rendition more than Dalton and Moore, who both brought a lot of fine qualities to their characters.

    I am glad you have pointed that out, because three of my films rank high based on a subjective preference over quality. After all, we can all say Schindler's List is a great film...but it isn't one you'd sit down and watch for the joy of it. So, yes, there is a distinction.

    @TripAces , I don't think we can all say that SCHINDLER'S LIST is a great film. I think it is a good, but flaws movie. It certainly has great visuals and some raw moments, but a lot of the dialogue come soft as forced, even stilted, to me. That may fit into some of his more adventurous fare, but it certainly hurts SL, as well as SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. With both of those films I find myself enjoying the purely docudrama pieces (Warsaw ghetto massacre, storming Normandy, etc.). Although I do think that he has made a few great films (JAWS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND); the ones that require the actors to be a little more broad and a little more obvious.

    I get your point. My point was that SL is considered a great film (#8 on AFI's list: http://www.afi.com/100years/movies10.aspx) but it's not one you sit and watch for fun.

    I can say that quality-wise, DN is much better than DAF. But damn...DAF is so much fun, and I have a lot of fun watching its ridiculousness. Thus, I rank DAF higher.

    I used to be the same, but as I've gotten ancient I find that DN is way more interesting on almost every level except its score.

    My ranking is a mixture of quality and preference, and I respect my own opinions and tastes enough that the two are nearly synonymous.

    You no longer respect your own opinion? Or is this some backhanded ageism dig at me for considering my favorites of the series to also be of superior quality? Isn't it all personal opinion anyways, as long as I defend my choices? All of us on this board certainly can, as we've seen the films so many times.

    I don't think it makes me pretentious, I just respect my own opinions and tastes.

    I don't see there being anything wrong with me preferring film X to film Y and also being of the opinion that film X is superior to film Y. If I can cite "evidence" to support my claims my opinion is as valid as any.

    I'd rather not get into a discussion on the subjectivity of art, but people disagree on a film's quality for a reason, and it isn't because one participant is "stupid."

    I, more or less, rank the Bond films according to quality. Now, in a series of 24 films (I personally count NSNA) there are several cases where I feel two films are neck and neck in terms of quality. Then I'll just bump my personal preference to the spot above, hence why I said nearly synonymous. I rank the films I consider the "worst" at the bottom, and the ones I consider "best" at the top, and the middle numbers (like 11-16 or so) are pretty fluid, so I just rack my brain and go with my gut (personal preference) when typing out a numbered ranking.

    I'm not sure why I'm being attacked on this, honestly.

    Oh, I absolutely agree with this. In fact, I don't think we're really in disagreement at all. Film art, (Bond), is inherently subjective, so it does all boil down to opinion.

    I'd rather get rid of Twilight and other rubbish movies than getting rid forever of a Bond movie. Yes, even DAD I would keep. I enjoy all 23 Bond films so far, and wouldnt trade them for anything.

    Same here. I can enjoy all of them to some extent, and I love most of them.
