@FoxRox If I were you I'd now hit MEATY, BEATY, BIG AND BOUNCY, ODDS 'N' SODS, WHO CAME FIRST, ROUGH MIX, EMPTY GLASS and CHINESE EYES.

I'll be sure to get to those. My friend and I are going to be starting up a Genesis listening marathon next starting tonight, so I'll fit in the other The Who content whenever I can. Some exciting news for fellow Iron Maiden fans:

    https://www.loudersound.com/news/iron-maiden-reveal-the-final-part-of-their-studio-collection-remastered-series

I've been collecting this latest line of CDs (with the exceptions of The X Factor and Virtual XI; don't care for those) and am very happy with them. Iron Maiden is easily one of my favorite bands and one of the very best metal bands; almost every one of their albums is worth getting IMO.

Had the opportunity to watch Maiden live back in 2010. It was a fantastic live show. Some years later, when I was a student, Bruce Dickinson stopped by the school I went too. Unfortunately I didn't have anything for him to sign, but it was cool seeing him up close.

That’s awesome. I’d love to go to a Maiden concert someday. As far as I’m concerned, they’re one of the most consistently great bands (only two albums I don’t like, and Bruce didn’t sing on them). I wonder if they’ll put out any more studio material.

You won't regret going to a Maiden concert, that's for sure!

Just checked the tour dates, and it was 2008, not 2010 I went to see them. It was the Somewhere Back in Time World Tour, where they played mainly 80's material from Powerslave, Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (three of my favourite Maiden albums). One of the support acts were Avenged Sevenfold, who have become a really popular band too.

I like most of the Maiden albums; I'm not a fan of The X Factor and Virtual XI (I think most people aren't), and I rarely listen to Iron Maiden and Killers. Other than that, I like all what they've made.

I too hope they'll make another album at some point. They're still touring, so we can hope they're working on something between tours.

Excellent choices for favorites. I actually really enjoy the first two albums, though most of the stuff with Bruce is better. My own Iron Maiden ranking attempt (huge gap between 14 and 15; can’t emphasize enough how weak in comparison X Factor and Virtual XI are):

    1. Powerslave (possibly my favorite metal album ever; perfect)
    2. The Number of the Beast
    3. Somewhere in Time
    4. Piece of Mind
    5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
    6. Dance of Death (most underrated Maiden album IMO - love it)
    7. Brave New World
    8. A Matter of Life and Death
    9. The Book of Souls
    10. The Final Frontier
    11. Fear of the Dark
    12. Iron Maiden
    13. Killers
    14. No Prayer for the Dying (easily the weakest Bruce-led album, but still has some good stuff)
    15. Virtual XI
    16. The X Factor

Great list! I'm struggling more with listing the Maiden albums than The Who ones (it's been a while since I listened to the albums from start to finish), but here's mine:

    1. Powerslave
    2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
    3. Somewhere in Time

Any of the top three are worthy a top spot, so it comes down to which album I'm in the mood for.

    4. The Number of the Beast
    5. Piece of Mind
    6. Fear of the Dark
    7. Dance of Death (I agree that this album is underrated!)
    8. A Matter of Life and Death
    9. Brave New World

    11. The Book of Souls
    12. No Prayer for the Dying

Trespass - the second Genesis album. I absolutely LOVED this album! The first had potential, and this one delivered big time. Just prog goodness all around. I'm super excited to keep going.

I wouldn't rank the album that high if it wasn't for that song, that's for sure! Afraid to Shoot Strangers is also a great track.

It's really close between Fear of the Dark and Dance of Death for me; I think DOD is a very solid album as a whole, but lacks that one track to make it stand out slightly more. With FOTD I think the title track and Afraid to Shoot Strangers make up for a slightly lesser album overall – enough so that I rank it above DOD in this ranking.
