HUGO (2011) by Martin Scorcese: if he wins an Oscar with this one I would honestly say that it is well deserved. The magic of cinema is there from the first minute to the last minute. You can easily see the enjoyment Scorcese must have felt when he was making this.

I just watched Gilbert Grape for the first time. Wow, I loved everything about it.
• Explorers, not as good as stand by me and goonies. Explorers was a film that i fondly remember as a kid.
• It was a Seagal film and I can't remember the title of it. He goes to Kentucky to keep an eye on some tycoon dumping toxic waste in the hills, Fire Down Below that's it

Released in 1997 and Mr Seagal still looks the part, I felt it is actually one of his best releases, but fight scenes are in short supply but worth the wait, it all went a bit downhill for the actor after this point in time
• Now watching poltergeist a film that improves over time. great movie.
• Is that the original one released in 1982, so many remakes these days and all even after the official series ended, hard to keep up sometimes

If so, I saw it last year again when it was on late one night and although it's aged since it's release there are genuine hide behind the couch moments, when I first saw it, obviously younger at the time, I wasn't afraid to admit there was some genuine scared moments, it's not really a movie for kids

They're here :-S
• Its the original remastered version bought it a few month's back, the film put's most of the modern takes on that genre to shame.
• There was a curse attached to that movie series you know, Allegedly. The little girl died if memory serves before the third release came out, there was all kinds of wild theories and attachments, it happened to subsequent actors as well involved in the releases

Yes, Original is best, they can stuff all their latest remakes. Don't bother with (Poltergeist) Parts II & III people
• there are some genuinely creepy moments, when i watched it as a kid the tree sequence and clown always got me. Just watching poltergeist now reminds me how technically brilliant it is. tobe hooper of texas chainsaw massacre fame career seemed to nose dive after this movie. him and spielberg had differences during the filming. spielberg directed certain scenes.
• heather orourke died during filming of the 3rd movie. think it was a brain tumour. i remember the exorcist had similar amount of deaths from people associated with the movie.
• It does make you wonder, what I mean is, purely coincidental happenings or was there really more to it, i.e. a malevolent force at work, probably nothing at all and just natural causes for the most part but there you are

• We have the Exorcist special edition bought a few years ago and my wife (initially) wanted nothing to do with it and took exception to it even being in our home of all things, she's never even seen the damn film, but everybody has their ideas about what a nasty piece of work it is, and it's not something for a general audience

Touch wood, thus far no curses or anything relevant and we're still in one piece. I can appreciate people's distastes though with regard to this movie

A Fistfull of Dollars

LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE that trilogy. Sometimes I play it in the background just to hear the dialogue and music, and I can fill in the imagery. Its that memorable.

Blu Ray or other? Blu Ray is impeccable.

5 years before Sean Connery went Japanese in YOLT, Shirley Maclaine did so in this film. Beautiful cinematography and interesting as a time capsule of Japan only 16 years after WWII.

Force 10 from Navarone the sequel of Guns of Navarone with none of the original players. But an excellent cast that makes it a fun war actionmovie. With Bach & Kiel involved it is also a small reminder of TSWLM.

I watched the Star Wars ep.1 in 3D.

I have to admit this is mine first Star Wars movie that i watched.

I heard that ep.1 was the worst.I already watched other 3D movies and i know that I shouldn't expect much from the 3D considering the fact the movie came out in 1999.
The new movies have bad 3D effects and what I should expect from movie from 1999.

There were couple good 3D effects.

I really liked the movie. It started good.Continued really solid.Became boring after 1h:45min or so but the end was great. It had few flaws but I really liked the movie.I plan on watching next 5 ep. soon :).

I would rate this movie 7.5/10

The Incredible Hulk (TV pilot)

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSjqaW-5nvol24Hjd39SYFarbsNzSHjO5ed0s-Jy0060_BvhWEKNspNiz2iRA

Good film, as a 1970's TV pilot that is. Reminds me of how well Bill Bixby played the part of Banner. God bless him - he's being sorely missed. Ironically, the least interesting moments for me is when Banner hulks out. Lou Ferrigno, by contrast, isn't my favourite incarnation of the uncanny green creature. Still, the whole science part and the Jeckyll & Hyde / Frankenstein's monster concept really works for me, far better even than in some of the more recent theatrical Hulk films.

Last movie watched? Well it was 48 Hours last night truth be told

Released in 1982 if I remember, it was Eddie Murphy's breakthrough release although some argue that Trading Places could be the one that really made his name, maybe they were right

The version I saw last night seemed to have a lot of expletives removed from what I remember seeing years back, but racial overtones were clearly evident although the violence seemed tamed down from a last viewing, maybe I just haven't seen it for such a long time

Well worth a watch, but it's nothing great. A few genuine laughs though

It's not disturbing all those people had it coming to them. And of course Brad's wife defo had it coming to her. She was so annoying.

It did change the way film thrillers were made.

Road Games (1981)

A70-6114

Very Hitchcockian, in particular, Rear Window. I wasn't surprised to read in the IMDB trivia that the screenwriter was given the screenplay for Rear Window by the director before starting Road Games. Just shift the story to Austrailia 1981, and set the film on the road. Stacy Keach is Quid, the truck driver who may or may not have witnessed a killer getting rid of the remains of his latest victim, Jaime Lee Curtis is Hitch, the hitchhiker who joins Quid in tailing the mysterious green truck. The two leads work really good together, quickly stricking up a likeable chemistry while the film displays a good sense of black humour. One for Horror/Thriller fans and fans of Hitchcock.

Stacy Keach
1. The Squeeze (1977)
**2. Road Games (1981) NE**
3. Doc (1971)
4. Gray Lady Down (1978)
5. Antigone (1972)
6. Battle Force (1978)
7. Mike Hammer: Murder Takes All (1989)
8. Mission Of The Shark (1991)
9. Class Of 1999 (1990)
10. The Return Of Mickey Spillanes Mike Hammer (1986)
11. Intimate Strangers (1986)
12. Unshackled (2000)
13. Meteor (2009)
14. Weather Wars (2011)

The Eiger Sanction a spy/assassin thriller with Clint Eastwood & George Kennedy, a surprisingly tense thriller that gets really exciting once we get to the mountainering on the Eiger.
