What about Moore's "oop" everytime he gets punched?

Oh just thought of one for Lazenby- pretty unique. He and Dalton both have a cleft chin, but Lazenby has a cleft NOSE!
Gérard Depardieu is the only other guy I've ever seen with such a nose

    Moore tongue in cheek
    Dalton intensity
    Lazenby physicality
    Craig intensity and physicality
    Connerys purr..."guns upset me" "yess..."
Lazenbys swagger - just watch him walk through the Palacio
Rogers gulp when confronted with a henchman
Tims bitterness "if he fires me I will thank him for it"
    Pierces' smarminess
Dans footchasing plus the offhand mumbling.

That's one of the few things about Dan that bugs me.

Another thing for Broz - his little smiles (as he leaves M's office in GE). These are different to his cheesey grins (when he see's Xenia driving up beside him).

A trademark of Moore IMO is that he walks perfectly, talks perfectly, acts perfectly, looks perfect and does everything perfect. Craig and Connery mumble occasionally IMO.

    Connery - gradually worse toupe's

Lazenby - terrible at scottish accents, unlike Connery!

    Moore - Judo chop!

    Dalton - baggy 80's clothes.

Brosnan - trying to "peel back the layers".

    Craig - Hulk smash!

    Unfortunately absolutely right.....

Damn, just imagine Dalton with Craig's wardrobe. What a shame!

Yep, I didn't think a worse leather jacket than the one modeled by Sir Rog in AVTAK existed by hey Timbo found one in TLD!
  • Connery has a very specific face that he makes - he looks bemused, or he does a "Who, little old me?" look when a woman takes him to task for something. That helps to defuse - and make charming - some of the outlandish things that he does.

Laz - certainly very hard to think of a trademark when he was in one film! But one thing that he does which I quite like is that he'll smile at certain times like he's really enjoying himself - and why not? He's young, well-off, good-looking...he's got the world by a string and he knows it!

Moore - having only seen half of his films I may not be as qualified as others to comment. But he does the "raised eyebrow" thing as well as the "look at the bad guy and incline you head to acknowledge them" thing A LOT. Which unfortunately robs the scenes of any tension.

Dalton - the thing that I love about him is that you can see him thinking when he's talking to someone or listening to him. One reviewer said that you can always see the wheels turning in his head, hence the "thinking Bond" label that some people have given him.

Brosnan - he does a...for lack of a better way of describing it a "runway walk". Sometimes when he's walking down the street he looks like he's walking down a modelling runway. Sometimes it comes across as trying too hard (like the infamous PAINFACE) and it seems a bit of an affectation and unnatural.

Craig - speaking of Craig, he does three distinct types of walks at different times. He has a formal/military type of walk (escorting the Queen at the Olympics, walking towards the Aston for the first time in CR), a "bullheaded" walk (the QOS gunbarrel, walking into the embassy office in CR), and Connery's "panther-like prowl" (walking beside M when being briefed in Dimitrios' beach house in CR).
  • Yep, I didn't think a worse leather jacket than the one modeled by Sir Rog in AVTAK existed by hey Timbo found one in TLD!

Actually, as someone who was a fashion-conscious teen when TLD came out I can assure you that that leather jacket was extremely cool at the time. Everything comes and goes out of fashion; in another 10 or 20 years Craig's leather jacket from CR will look embarrassingly out of style!

That does make sense-- although I love Craig's clothes now, I can imagine in a few years people will bash everything he wears for being 'too tight', just as Dalton's clothes were 'too baggy'.

The one absolute? The TUX. We will be wearing those till the year 3000 I bet :P

Ah, but what style of tux? In the 90s Connery's tux looked very out of style. Now, Brosnan's huge bow ties from the 90s look ridiculous.

One thing that I've learned through the years is how changeable fashion is, and how quickly it happens. Now matter how cool something looks now people will think it looks ridiculous in another 10 or 15 years. And when you think of the things that look ridiculous to you now at some point they'll be back in style again...

Connery - His voice, notably the ish sound he developed in later Bonds.
Lazenby - Grunting loudly during his fights.
Moore - It's got to be the brows.
Dalton - His ability to project that quietly seething rage. That way his eyes narrow, and his body langauge stiffens.
Brosnan - Either Pain Face or his constant smarmy aura.
Craig - His mumbling or his pouting.

Connery - slight pursing of the lips.
Lazenby - never had time to develop anything
    Moore - the double take.
Dalton - I agree with the Major. He just never seemed to realise that his audience was up close, and not 25 rows back in a theatre.
    Brosnan - Yes, pain face
Craig - The 'I'm not going to let anyone know what I'm thinking' expression.

Brosnan - when he is running, it looks like s.o. put a stick up his ... (e.g. in DAD when he runs through the botanical garden of the ice palace). His back is absolutely straight.

    Lazenby - immeasurable self-assuredness
  • just adding:

    Connery-Flaring of the nostrils.

Craig-The running Bond. He Has run more than the others combined in just 2 films. That is what he will be known for. You are right, Zebrafish, Brosnan ran like he had a stick up it.

That's how you're supposed to run, technically: with a straight back.

Brosnan also runs with his arms sharply bent at 90 degree angles when he runs. The man ran like a robot.

Yes, go watch some track and field atheletes. All robots.

    Briefly, for me:

Brosnan - that little smile and cocks his head a bit to the side, very cool; and his walk, hand in pocket

Moore - the smoothness of his charm, his smooth delivery no matter what is happening, and of course the raised eyebrow

Connery - the solid self assurance that just radiates off of him, not just the panther stride. You seriously don't want to mess with this man.

Dalton - the fierceness of his emotions; he really let them play across his face at times - and also his smile (he has I think a sweet smile)

Lazenby - nada, except his gracefulness in fighting

Craig - his intensity and how he can add so much by the slightest movement, like his subtle reactions, an ever so slight smile, and his genuinely piercing gaze. He's just a really good actor; you can see his Bond thinking, he really lives through the part as a scene plays out. Again, like Connery, a self assurance of his physicality and self confidence that is completely solid.

Brosnan doesn't run like a track and field athlete 8-|

I always thought Brosnan ran like Forrest Gump

He runs with a straight back, which is how athletes run. That's what she meant.

The point I'm making is Brosnan's run looks so artificial. It's as simple as that. Now Craig, he knows how to run.....and not look ridiculous doing so.

Prime example in DAD at the start where he runs to the hovercraft after the explosion

So first it's "Brosnan can't act", then "Brosnan is a Moore knock off", and now it's "he can't run". Can we just give the guy a break? It's like people on here are constantly searching for new ways to bash the guy.

Oh god, here we go. What does Craig have to do with any of this? Please don't turn this into another Craig vs Brosnan thread. We have enough of those.

:)) I can sort of see where you're coming from.

I dont constantly bash Brosnan. In fact, i spend more time praising him and giving him his due credit than bashing him. Also, if people want to bash him till kingdom come in all fairness they have that right. I just don't like the way he's so OTT with various parts of his performances and that includes his rather odd way of running. As for Craig, again I'm not trying to turn this into a Vs. Contest but seeing as Craig is Bond and he's known to do more running/foot chases mores than any other actor in the series, I think it's fair to make such an obvious comparison.
