Henry Cavil - The Cold Light Of Day film trailer

For anyone thinking about Henry Cavill replacing Daniel Craig as Bond, here is the trailer to Cavill's new film - The Cold Light of Day. He's not playing a James Bond type character, just a regular guy, but you can get a rough idea how he would look in a Bond film.

He's playing the part with an American accent which is more Clark Kent sounding than James Bond. ;)

I get a sort of Jason Bourne feel to the trailer even though he's not a secret agent. Lots of running about and shouting stuff like "who set me up?" "Who got me this film role?" "I'm firing my agent!"

:P

So tired of Bruce Willis doing the same old, same old, but nice to see Sigourney Weaver in an action role again.

I wonder if Cavill will be out of the running for Bond because of Superman.

From what I've read, he was Martin Campbell's preferred choice to play Bond in Casino Royale.

    Tatler Magazine, UK (2007):

"At 24, Cavill is already very much a man of the world - so much so that Casino Royale director Martin Campbell was keen for him to play Bond. In the end he was too young and lost out to Daniel Craig. "

There is potential there but the whole Superman thing could well be an issue?

I remember Martin admitting to some doubts in an interview, but also "Once we put Dan on film, there he was and he is a terrific Bond"

I think, this is very true. Seeing him as himself and how he acts like a very normnal bloke with good and lesser traits, he doesn't necessarely scream Bond - but once he is in the role, everything about him IS Bond - my two...

I understand it was actually down between Daniel and Henry. Both top choices- the film makers just had to decide what direction they wanted their film to take: Would it be 'young OO agent' or 'established field agent who gets promoted to OO status'?
They went with the later. But they could have easily gone the other way and my world wouldn't have ended, lol
I like both Craig and Cavill
  • Nuts... reviews are coming in saying this movie is pretty terrible. :(
However, the general consensus is that the one good part is Henry Cavill.

I really hope Man of Steel is a success for this dude.

Calvin is too pretty and too smooth to be Bond (a bit like Brosnan and Moore). We need someone who is attractive but not necessarily good looking like member of a Boysband.
We need a man like Connery, Dalton and Craig.
    :D

  • Honestly I reckon Cavill could've maybe been a better choice than Craig for CR, because he was younger. Craig was great in CR but he was 38, bit old for a rookie.
  • Bond was a rookie 00 in CR, not a rookie agent.

I doubt Cavhill will be Bond 7, because he was Campbell's choice, not Broccoli's and I doubt Campbell will be directing the next Bonds debut movie.

Cavill too high profile now - he can't pally two super heroes at the same time can he?

Willis, whatever you think of his crackpot politics and personal character, is so watchable as a movie star.

I'm looking fwd to G.I. Joe and Looper - which is probably going to be the best sci-fi/film this year/ever. Everyone is raving about it...I thought The Raid would be hard to beat but....

But still, Connery was what, 30(?) in his first film, and Lazenby was in his 20s, I think. So 38 is a bit old to be just promoted isn't it?

I think if they really wanted to cast Craig, they shouldn't have made it a reboot/origin story. But then, I don't think they should've done that anyway.

I don't think we should use this film as a template as to what Cavill could bring to Bond. It's the biggest load of crap I've ever seen.
