Max the Parrot, but rather for his FYEO performance: the 'ATAC to St. Cyril's' one-liner, voice doubling to the PM and ridding Q Branch of another gadget.
Yes, absolutely. Not only did he learn his lines, but knew exactly when to deliver them. Parrots are so clever, they even understand what a telephone is. And that Bond impression was impressive for a bird. No wonder they brought him back. He should have been in all the 80s films, and saved the day each time.
Wasn't that Nikki van der Zyl? Otherwise agree, agree, agree.

Full disclosure I'm a birdwatcher. I choose snake and mongoose fight while Bond watches from CR. It's like an open-air version of Siamese fighting fish. And reminds me of the other Craig Bond animal appearances. Dog on roof in QOS. Komodo dragon(s) plus that mouse in SF. Crows in SP. What will they think of for NTTD. Doctor hummingbird hopefully.

Max the parrot spectates on a death and then a brawl in the kitchen from TLD. The intelligence of that bloody parrot is astounding.

So many animals! Who will take home the coveted prize?

I forgot about the Betta fish from FRWL they might have been a good pick. Especially considering they were able to get one that was like SPECTRE and waited for the victor to be so exhausted that he would strike!

Nobody has brought up Albert from LALD. :)

Jack Hedley, who also plays Sir Timothy, so in their scenes together he’s in effect talking to himself!

Obviously Max was going to perform all the dialogue himself, but the union stepped in complaining that the bird was taking all the work away from their members.

That's quite fun, I didn't know that. I guess it sort of makes sense if the parrot is supposed to be mimicking him!
I'm sure actors have a very high embarrassment threshold but even so... doing a parrot voice has got to come close to triggering it!

He does manage to out-suave even Roger Moore in his delivery of that one line "I'll give you a nut".

So many great animals! I miss them in the newer entries, especially the iconic sharks.
My vote goes to...hmmm...shark in TSWLM! I hope he wasn't harmed in this final fight!

There is an incredible ammount of great animals in the series when you think about it. Have to give a shout out to the mouse in SP as well.

The animal kingdom is indeed well-represented in our beloved franchise. The rat in DAF comes to mind as well, as well as the lizard in QOS. Too bad they had to resort to CGI dragons in Skyfall. I suppose insurance wouldn't have covered real ones.

Anyway, my vote is for the Elephant who knock's JW into the water in TMWTGG.

As I flutter to the stage there are a cacophony of sounds from our animal friends. Seems they can sense I am about to hand out the award for the best animal performance in a Bond film. For the first time ever, a write in nominee has won! The audience is a titter with this news. The Bondie goes to @Max_The_Parrot for his performance in FYEO which received 6 write-in votes!

The pigeon in the audience does a double take with the announcement and flies off!

The votes show us the following:
    • Blofeld's scared cat from YOLT received 2 votes
    • Double taking pigeon from MR received 4 votes
    • Max the Parrot witnesses a death and a brawl in the kitchen received 2 votes
    • Elephant is bullish and push J.W. into the river with 2 votes
    • St. Bernard comforts Bond in the snow receiving 2 votes
    • Lizard from SP received 1 vote
    • Mouse from SP receives 1 vote, though it's being contested due to CGI
    • Monkey jumps out of harms way on Gibraltar from TLD received 1 vote
    • Jaws munches on a secretary from Spy received 1 vote
    • Dog pisses at the Junkanoo from TB received 2 votes
    • Snake and Mongoose fight while Bond watches from CR received 1 vote

Whew! What a list and what a zoo this place is! Okay as we clean up the stage from Max excitement and excrement we shall move on to another Bondie! This one for best Title Sequence. The Bond films have always had style and panache when it comes to the title sequences. This is going to be a hard fought battle! Time to vote for the best of the best! The nominees are:
    • Maurice Binder for The Spy Who Loved Me
    • Robert Brownjohn for Goldfinger
    • Daniel Kleinman for Goldeneye
    • Dainel Kleinman for Die Another Day
    • Maurice Binder for On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Lets vote on this bunch of great title sequences and see who takes home the coveted Bondie!

Love the scenes from previous Bond films being put in the titles. Honorable mention to the unnominated Maurice Binder for Thunderball and You Only Live Twice and to Daniel Kleinman for Casino Royale.

OHMMS. It's not just the sequences from previous films; it just looks so advanced in comparison even to its immediate successors: How it segues from the film proper, the tongue-in-cheek representation of British heraldry and vexillology, the tiny op-art sequence that precedes the past films' clips, the symbolism of time running out and sensation of impeding doom in front of an unknown danger, even the movie title's distinctive font... Glorious.

And about Binder, there's a legendary B series director that said:
“There's more cinema on Dr.No's opening titles than on all Bergman's filmography"
    — Jess Franco

GE or TSWLM for me; I actually didn’t like how they shoehorned Connery’s films into OHMSS like that; it was just so everyone knew Lazenbys Bond was the same as Connery’s Bond; it wasn’t to make a good titles sequence. Same with all the stuff in his desk, didn’t like it. GE.

    Pre-titles: 1986
    Post-titles: 1995

In between we are treated to a surreal, dreamlike depiction of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Sickles are crushed, hammers are used. Stalin and Lenin statues are being brought down, Soviet flags fly off and a gun appears out of a woman's mouth. We enter and leave via gunbarrel. This is pure art.

I love the sequences of TB (first typical Binder sequence), CR (it growned on me immensly; unique) and GE. When I think about title sequences, then I see attractive woman hammering on statues in front of my eyes. GE for me, please.
    (DAD looks also very good).

Yes. The woman, hammering the sickle with the big golden eye in the background at the end of the TS?
A little on the nose? Yes. Still amazing? Also yes.

OHMSS. The clock is turned back by Harold Lloyd, Bond's life runs through the hourglass, the sands of time are interrupted by a woman's silhouette, and buxom ladies kneel before the crown. A fitting way to cap the first cycle of Bond films.

So many good entries to chose from. But for me, the best is still TSWLM. The naked lady doing gymnastics on a pistol always gets me.

I'm torn between the OHMSS and Goldeneye title sequences, both being my favorites. Ultimately, my vote would go to OHMSS, as it is, without a doubt, the epitome of Bondian imagery.

I really dislike the more modern ones with their reliance on computer effects. DAD’s one is (IMO) awful. The ice women look fine but the fire women look terrible. I can understand why DAD is on the nominees’ list, because of its innovative idea of keeping the move running through the titles, but that’s not enough.

Back in the early days of FRWL and GF the film makers simply projected things onto women’s bodies. Cheap as chips but stunningly effective. I’d love to see that approach get used again. I’m now imagining a new SP title sequence with shots of Rome, Aston Martins, Mexico skulls, crows, octopi etc all projected onto a semi-naked dancer. How brilliant that would have been :)

Anyway GF for me, although I really like TSWLM and OHMSS too.

Of the ones nominated I will have to go with Goldfinger. Simple, yet so stylish.
