Athlete Fatima Whitbread turned down cameo in 'Octopussy'

Olympic and World Championship medal winning athlete Fatima Whitbread made a surprising revelation this week during her stint on the UK reality show "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here".

The javelin thrower said she had been offered the cameo role of Lady Fatima in 1983 James Bond film "Octopussy", but her late husband, athletics agent Andy Norman, wasn’t keen for her to do it so she turned the part down.

She revealed: “I was going to play The Lady Fatima who sat on top of James after a fight, but my late husband didn’t want me to do it. I should have done it. It would have been great.”

50-year-old Fatima also revealed that she wouldn’t make the same mistake twice and said:

"Had it been the latest one - Daniel Craig - my late husband wouldn't have got a say in it."

It' s hard to know how to respond to this news. She's quite a....woman @-)

I dont remember a lady Fatima in the film unless it was a role written for her.

I have an uneasy feeling that they probably wanted her as a circus act, bending bars and all that. Riding the floats on the circus parade.

You may have nailed it there actonsteve. I was unsure myself but it makes sense to think she may have sat on Bond when he was fighting his way to the bomb dressed as a clown.

Well, British show jumper Oliver Skeete turned up in Die Another Day so it's not a unique scenario. Let's just hope ex footballerVinnie Jones doesn't appear as a monosyllabic future henchman!

and ITV seem to have forgotten that in order to count as a celebrity people need to know who you are

Fatima Whitbread was certainly a celebrity back in the day - she won an Olympic medal in the javelin for Britain, didn't she? She and fellow UK javelinist Tessa Sanderson were big rivals from what I recall...

Fatima Whitbread should have been a cricketer - she is the biggest spinner of reality - bar none - she does have dominance issues of a seriously dangerous kind and now it has come unstuck for her. She keeps no friends because anyone once stung by her - never goes back. She does fight dirty/filthy as even her husband discovered. His mates in the real 'know' have nicknamed the cockroach Andy after him - as returned to get right up her nose. He was just a stepping stone for her. She must be obeyed. As to Octopussy .... as IF ..... she was once on steroids. That won the Gold.

BTW Guys - Lady Fatima was in NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN - Sean Connery 1983 - if youo check the records - Andy Norman was a happily married man then still having a family with his Wife - so Whitbread spins again - caught by her own tongue - again - she never gives up so I suppose that does show determination of a kind. She is no Bond material as an intelligent, cool, lady ... she doesn't get it and never did... there was NO Lady Fatima in Octopussy - also 1983 ... and unless she was involved in a secret affair with Andy Norman 1983 - she didn't marry him until many long years later ... another oops! for Fatima - what's new??????????????
