I don't... It feels forced. Plus, the lack of gunshot sound during the gunbarrel was just wrong.
  • The gunshot is always something I can add.

That would be nice, especially if you can put in the DAD bullet (I honestly wish that had stayed on with CR and QoS). But, as I said before, it feels forced somehow.
  • I tried adding a bullet to the Quantum of Solace gunbarrel and it didn't turn out that well. That being said, it wasn't terrible. Here it is:

I do have the added gunshot video finished but I don't think I'll upload it unless you really want to see it because its pretty much the same thing.

Well, except for the split second change to Brosnan, it's not bad for a fanmade video. I couldn't do any better (in fact, I could do a whole helluva lot worse).
  • Thanks. You are the only one giving me feedback.

Personally, I think my videos are pretty good considering they're all made with Windows Live Movie Maker (a very restricted program.)

Nice work there. I have a question regarding video editing. I've never made a fan vid before- just little animated GIFs. Do you guys work with individual frames?, because you can create frame-by-frame animation in photoshop. It's easy to manipulate individual objects (e.g. you could isolate the bullet and add it over top of Craig's gunbarrel.
  • I use Windows Live Movie Maker. You can go frame by frame in this program, but you cannot isolate certain items, unfortunately.

to get that bullet effect - you need a program like After Effects...

isolating that and masking it in an editing program like Final Cut might prove to be impossible... a program like After Effects might be your best bet.... because you could go 2 ways with it...

    - you could either go frame by frame, and mask everything out around the bullet, and then lay it over the QOS GB...

    - or, you could create a high res jpg of the bullet, import it into After Effects, and just key frame the rotation and scale, and you'd be all set.

personal opinion though... i never liked the bullet thing... it was an interesting way to mark the 40th... but it's one that i dont think should be duplicated

I honestly thought the bullet was cool. It added some depth to the typical gunbarrel sequence.

see i never cared for it....

and how does that kill the guy who is aiming the gun?.. why then the blood? lol

some consider it just a minor detail - but i think they need to keep it the way it is... the bullet really doesn't add anything new to the sequence that already can't be assessed prior..

then some would say, if it adds or subtracts nothing, then what harm would it be to leave it?.... because eventually, you add enough 'nothings' - it eventually turns into something.. and most times that happens, it's a CF..

keep it simple... hell, i'd even be open to the idea of going back to the matte style of gun barrel (like in Bond films before Goldeneye) in place of the CGI one

The bullet is cool for DAD, but I agree- never use it again. It's been done.

I've had After Effects for a couple of years now, but I still haven't played with it much. I'm creating a Skyfall gunbarrel sequence in Photoshop, as I know how to animate decently with that program. Already finished the moving dots. :-D

Well, if you put it that way, how does the blood cover the gunbarrel anyway? Is there no butt to the gun being aimed at Bond? And how does the would-be Assassin of Secrets (see what I did there?) even aim through the gunbarrel in the first place?

Start questioning the logic of one part, you gotta start questioning the logic of the rest, too.

There's an easy explanation for that. It's an anthropomorphic gun. ;-)
  • I just added a new Gunbarrel today. It can be seen in the OP. Enjoy!

Getting to the editing thing, anybody seen a YouTube video called "Quantum of Bonds"? It's a masterpiece of editing that shows (basically) Daniel Craig versus Pierce Brosnan. The guy dubbing Brosnan is crap but funny.
  • @Agent007391

Yeah I saw it. It was pretty good.

My favorite part is when Brosnan says "Get away from me, you smell like Old Spice!".

I've added a new Gunbarrel to the top of the OP.

Sean Connery in OHMSS, the way it should have been.

You loved the OHMSS gunbarrel, didn't ya?

I think the original OHMSS gunbarrel is fantastic as it is. I love the music.
  • Have you ever wondered what might have been had George Lazenby stayed on for one more Bond film? I added a new video to the very top of the page. Check it out!

I have always loved the OHMSS gunbarrell. The music, the producers' names being shown, the "treadmill effect" and the spectrum were pure genius. As you can see the DAF gunbarrell was very similiar using the spectrum.

I was always wondering about why the red wash "washes" Lazenby. this was the first time and last time they erased Bond. You think they were doing this as a symbolic way of bidding farewell to Lazenby?
  • When they made the OHMSS gunbarrel, I doubt they knew Lazenby would be leaving so soon.

I haven't done a gunbarrel video in a while. Enjoy!

    Vid in OP

P.S. The video is blocked in Germany for some odd reason. Sorry!

I made this today in honor of the 50th Anniversary. It is sort of a TV spot.

    Vid in OP
  • I just made a new video. It can be seen in the OP and right below. It is Skyfall with an opening gunbarrel sequence. I think it dismisses the thought that a gunbarrel would have ruined the opening shot.

  • On Her Majesty's Secret Service with the ending edited similarly to Quantum of Solace.
