Bond on TV

Here in the UK, Bond films are shown regularly, indeed, one could say almost continually on terrestrial TV. The focus is on the older Bond movies (up to and including Dalton). Brosnan and Craig films are also shown, but not that often.

I was wondering if they get aired on TV in the countries where other MI6 members reside. If so, with what frequency?

I would assume that they air on TV in most first-world countries?

They air frequently here in Canada, though the Connery-Dalton eras are shown less frequently than the Brosnan and Craig films.
  • Pretty frequently here in the US. Of course the Brosnans and Craigs are shown more frequently than the earlier films, but occasionally some channel has a Bond day. I feel like, for some reason, For Your Eyes Only tends to be shown more often than any of the earlier films.

Interestingly, SyFy Channel is showing Skyfall now. Not the most sci-fi of Bond films, but there are things that exercise the imagination.

At the end of last year I started Bond on the Box, which aims, as best as it can, to keep a weekly run down of all the Bond films airing around the world. We also keep on top of other Bond related documentaries, film screenings and radio broadcasts.

To answer your question, off the top of my head, the main countries that air Bond films are UK, USA, Australia, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Brazil and Sweden.

At the moment 'Casino Royale' has been airing multiple times a week on Showtimes channels for a number of months now.

The Bond films also have a healthy presence on Hulu and Amazon Prime.

I hope once the site is more established and we have more staff members on board, to be able to have a clearer picture of airing trends around the world.
