Here we go.............Bond looks like an idiot. That said I find Aki's death more moving than Vesper's, M's and especially Bond's himself.
Maybe it's the subtly in Connery's performance.

I love the wedding sequence. Tiger is wonderful here. Great stuff.

    Barry's score is wonderful.

........and we meet Blofeld. I tend to think of this film as my least favorite Connery, yet I'm enjoying this far more than any recent viewing of the latest films.

Again a superb viewing. It's been awhile since I've had time to watch a Bond in it's entirety. :)

Watched yolt the day before. Few things I noticed:

Mr Barraclough from Porridge is in it

    The cinematography is truly outstanding

Bond is fighting Dwayne Johnson's grandad in Osato's office

Karin Dor's character is the worst assassin in the history of assassination. She couldn't even kill herself and she probably should. A waste of a talented actor.

Hans' death has no impact because the piranha fish, who don't attack you like that, already ate

The implied Chinese agent in Blofeld's killer pad sounds implacably British. Could her majesty's government be up to no good? (again)

Frazier Hines dubs the secretary's voice and Ken Adam will need to build a new set so much scenery does Jamie chew

Pleasance's performance is better than I remember but Tiger and christ I forgot her name are worse

Kissy has more character in one scene than watchamacallher does in the entire film. Of course, she loses it riding Bond and winds up never having her name called. A big miss.

The heroes swim to safety through the gaseous cave. Mighty decent of spectre to switch it off.

Roald Dahl wrote the bathing scene. Let that sink in for a sec...

Better than I remembered! A reminder to watch them infrequently!

YOLT is Connery's worst film, but it still has a lot of interesting things going for it.

The script needed a rewrite. Bond spends the entire movie running around.

It was probably a mistake to kill off Aki. Kissy and Aki should have been the same character.

The positive parts are Bond's fake death, Japan, the volcano lair, and Blofeld.

A movie with ninjas can't be bad, after all.

Yes, the script was awkward. Most of the lines just don't work (chinese girls 'tasting different'?) and Kissy should have had priority over Aki.

A buddy of mine left a voicemail telling me he had gotten the NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN haircut for the summer.
I thought that was pretty funny.
My wife is my hairdresser now. She vetoed the YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE haircut for me. She find's Connery's neck hair in this film too unkempt. However, I'm noticing in some scenes it's tapered a little cleaner. When he picks up Aki after his massage for instance.

Connery's neck hair is indeed, unkempt. Not a good look for a debonair spy..!

Good to see you back to normal 'Comments along ' @ToTheRight
YOLT wouldn't be one of my favourite Connerys. Last viewing wasn't too good! Regarding 4k, I have a player, but I'm picky about getting 4k tapes. I still haven't watched my 'Apocalypse Now ' 4k. 'Blade Runner' looks stunning as you expect! As does 'No Time to Die' ,I'm debating whether to get the Connery ones!

How is it every time I pick a film to watch, I go to this thread and find the same film has just been done by others?

Anyway, here's my take on yolt.

The American space ship has just been gobbled up by Elon Musks company, and they're blaming the Russians. They're saying 'we're a peace loving people ' .going to try and explain that to my Ukrainian wife.

Very smart of the Brits to hand off that info like that. Saying it wasn't the Russians. As if Russia isn't close to the sea of Japan.

Absolutely love the title song. Titles themselves are interesting enough

Request permission to come a board sir. Delivered so well it even seems to make sense. Like the brief in ms underwater office. Would be nice to have one like that again, just in London, not on board a sub.

Henderson in the book is a boisterous Australian. Pity they didn't go for that.

Don't think any Japanese girl would take matters in her own hands like aki. But hey, who's complaining.

The obsession with camera's in this film (bond beeing tracked while waiting for osato) says more about the British perception of Japan in the sixties than about Japan.

And here's the next girl is taking him for no reason, Helga is indeed not convincing. Fiona made far more sense. The script is just not working properly. Or should the scene where Bond fears the dead henchman might be found in the drinks cabinet as flirting to get her to act this way?

And so the russian space ship is taken. And now we see the culprit return. Love it how this film, but also moonraker, pretends people wouldn't see such spaceships take off and return, even though you can see them from 100s of kilometres away.

Completely forgot the Chinese were behind this, 'buying' the war from spectre. Why, though? No idea. But it was quite a foresight thinking china one day would be a world power.

Bond turns Japanese. Before Henderson does turn into a woman. No, wait, he turns into Blofeld first.

Tbh it's nice they wanted to add something exotic like the Japanese marriage, but not knowing what's going on, makes it a bit useless. And needing the extra cover whilst assassin's run around in the training ground makes little sense.
