I found this video a couple of days ago. Never seen it before. I think it's very interesting, it's one of the very few times Sir Connery talks about Bond and Craig.

    I found that about two months ago and was amazed as how right Sir Sean was. It was on his 76th birthday no less! Also worth noting is how Connery does not feel possessive of Bond, a good thing to know. Maybe due to how many others have played him?

    Possessive of Bond? Connery? Ha! The guy has spent most of his life trying to run away from it.

    He got it right, down to black and white! Odd for him to have that thought if he truly knew nothing of the film. I kind of feel bad for him not being invited on set though. If I were Craig Id want to meet him.

    I agree, Connery - Campbell is an excellent director. He needs to take over every time a new actor comes in to the Bond series. He certainly knows what he is doing.

    i have not seen Green Lantern.. so i can't comment... but judging from a lot of my friend's reactions to it - i guess i didn't miss much lol...

    Hey, Campbell isn't a cinema god - not even close to it in any stretch of the imagination - he's good/average.. BUT.. he has good grasp on Bond, and making a worthwhile Bond film - as can be seen with his work on both Goldeneye and Casino Royale... so in that regard, Connery is right....

    in the realm of Bond, i would put Campbell up there as one of the best directors in the series...

    in the realm of cinema as a whole - Campbell is very middle of the road.

    I simply love this interview. Connery appears very sincere and honest. I doubt he's unwillingly promoting the next Bond project. He shows little fan boy enthusiasm, which is of course to be expected given the man's age and his status as the first Bond. Also, we know a thing or two about Connery's history of 'backstabbing' - forgive me the rather strong expression - at Cubby, Eon and Lord knows who else. But the simple truth to the 2006 Bond revival was mentioned by Sir Sean: Campbell's a darn good director and Craig's a darn good actor. No backstabbing this time. A most interesting interview indeed.

    @JWESTBROOK, I have not seen 'Green Lantern', either, nor will I. I'm not a huge fan of superhero movies. If it isn't Batman, Iron Man, or Punisher, good luck getting me to sit down and watch it. And to further explain my comment, I was actually going for Campbell being an amazing Bond director - he certainly knows what he is doing and never disappoints.

    Having said that, I have not seen much other works of Campbell's, but I did love both 'Vertical Limit' and 'Edge of Darkness', so I don't see the problem.

    It's good to see Connery acting how I perceive him. He is the epitome of James Bond, but he respects other takes and notes things special to each of the other Bonds and what the other actors brought to the table. He doesn't act like a better actor/Bond, he appreciates the love for his Bond, but doesn't feel he is the sole Bond. Classic Connery, a true legend.

    The thing I notice with Campbell is that he's a good director but he has worked with horrible scripts. Green Lantern's problem was the god awful script and plot. Everything else about it was fine. Campbell spent his time by creating a world for his production and filmed the script he had. But sadly, the script was too bad for Campbell or anybody else to save. He is lucky to have worked on two Bond films that had very good scripts

    Agreed, he has a very good grasp on a contemporary Bond. He definitely holds some prestigious titles under his belt.
