Sean Connery's Gun

edited February 2016 in General Discussion Posts: 12
Does anyone know why this picture was taken with Connery holding this gun? There were a few promotional pics of Connery with this gun and its kinda confusing to me because he never used it in the movies. By the time the movies were made Bond was known for using the PPK so it seems weird that he is posing with this gun. Plus if I remember correctly, he never uses this gun in the books either.

Well that's a still from the FRWL videogame but the reason he was photographed with it is because the crew photographing Connery lost the PPK so they had to use that Walther Airgun in it's place.

According to James Bond 50 Years of Movies, the artist felt that the traditional PPK was a mite too short.

Humm thats pretty interesting. Seems kinda weird that they would loose the PPK though. Also that pic was just the first one I found. Heres another one from the Connery collection DVD.

Also heres something that I always thought was kinda cool. This is a pic of Daniel Craig in layer cake with the same gun. I have heard that this is the movie that got him the job as bond. I could be wrong though.

Yes, that's it exactly. It's mentioned in Steven Jay Rubin's The James Bond Films (1981,1983) I believe. Apparently it was used for shooting rats.
  • Lol, shooting rats. I guess it was a good mistake to happen though. I always thought that it looked really classy in his pics.
