The question you just wish they had asked..

Over the years, countless tv shows and docus, radio interviews have centred around the SAME questions when a new Bond movie rears it's head. Whilst most satisfy the marketing aspect of the movie itself. What questions do you sit there WISHING they would just ask? instead of playing it safe. Intellectual or otherwise, what questions would you as a host or journalist have asked the bond actors and what answers would you just love to hear? Be as retrospective or progressive as you wish... Ask away....and just to make it a bit more fun, fellow forum members will answer your query in the style of the actor you are asking. :-)

"Is this Bond film going to ACTUALLY be different than the others?"
"How well do YOU think the movie will do?
"How did you go about choosing the locations in the films?"
"How many script revisions did you go through for this film?"
"What happened with Pierce and Tim?"(random question)
"If you could pick a film to erase from the franchise, which would it be?"
"Where do YOU want the franchise to go?"
"Where do you see the franchise in ten years time?"
"Will any future films use the names of non-Fleming Bond novels?"
"What actor/s did you want to play Bond that just slipped away?"
"Could DAD have actually been any good with a new team and resources?"
"Could a new film ever match the classic appeal of Connery's early Bonds?"
    "Can you top Casino Royale?"

That's all I have for now. A good thread this is, @Monsieur_Aubergine.

A cracking first response!! Love it. I take it what we are saying here is..bring on the honesty. :-) Not to denigrate the franchise in any way but to find fault with the media's blinkered view of the series, the creativity and effort into Bond falls by the wayside so often, let's get some honest exploration going on.

Good topic, and I love your view on the media these days: it almost seems like the most inept, incompetent people get to interview some of the biggest stars. There always seems to be videos on Youtube of - take QoS, for example - Craig, Kurylenko, Amalric, etc., getting interviewed, and they are just asking mind-numbingly dull questions. You're sitting there with the current James Bond, for God's sake, and you have any question on the tip of your tongue.

@0Brady posed some very good questions, one of my favorites being the one about asking who you would have liked to play Bond, but slipped away. One I would love to ask:

"What has been your most favorite and least favorite scene to shoot in the Bond films you've starred in thus far?"

    or

"If there were any script changes you could make with Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, or B23, what would they be and why?"

And with that, they aren't the best questions, but still, something that interests me.

If I sat with Dan, I would ask him these questions in between witty banter and dry humor on both sides:

"How much of an impact do you believe you've given Bond fans, and how would you rate you run of it(so far)?"

"If you were Bond in real life, how would you have dealt with the death of Vesper and all the circumstances of it(her betrayal/here love for him and her willingness to die for him)?"

"If you could give any future Bond one piece of advice, what would it be?"

"What is one criticism you wish you could have given in both CR and QoS?"

"How long are you willing and able to play Bond?

"When your run is over and all is said and done, what are three things you want fans to take away from your performance?"

"Could you see Bond going on for 50 more years? Is a 100th anniversary in the stars?"

"Will you miss playing Bond when you're done, and will playing him affect how you choose your roles looking into the future?"

If only I could actually get a chance to ask these. [-O<

I'd love to see the answer to this. My fear is no, it will never happen. The classic team and 60's setting aren't around so there's no hope.

There are some great questions here, maybe next year some will be asked...

I remember when LTK was released a whole Wogan interview show was dedicated to it. Wogan had Desmond Llewellyn, Robert Davi, Talisa Soto and..oh yes...Timothy Dalton and Cubby Broccoli. How could he fail?

Well of course Wogan reduced it all to trivea. For crying our loud, he had Cubby Broccoli on the show and he spent half the time asking Cubby whether he (Wogan) would make a good Bond. All tongue in cheek of course but a totally wasted opportunity. I never forgot that show for all the wrong reasons.

What would I love to ask a Bond star? Whatever you ask they will never be honest. Not until the actors can look back from the safe distance of passed years will they tell you the truth.

If I had BB and MW in front of me I would ask them how they see the future of the franchise. Is there a next generation of Broccolis waiting to take over when BB retires? Do they ever see a 2 year cycle returning any time soon?

That story reminds me of the Jonathan Ross interview with Daniel Craig in 2008. Seems exactly the kind of thing Mr Ross would do.

Assuming we don't know the title yet "out of the 4 remaining fleming titles is there one you particularly like and would like to use for a future bond film?"

I don't get why countless magazine articles made fun of the 4 remaining titles yet no one had the balls to ask if Wilson and comp actually liked any of the titles.

Where have you seen this @Risico007? I would say of course Wilson and co. like the titles, they're from Fleming and that's always important to them. If the story demands it one will be used.
