I just finished rewatching the entire "Dark Knight" trilogy. I still love that epic set of films. Marvellous work by Christopher Nolan. And so many Bond nods to discover. Fox is obviously the 'Q' of these films :-). Not to mention that wonderful 'Fox'-workshop. Talia reminded me a lot of Elektra King. And obviously "The League Of Shadows" has similarities with "S.P.E.C.T.R.E.".
I actually think these films should be watched to prepare for "SPECTRE". First the "Dark Knight" trilogy, then Craig's first three Bond films.... One thing though. The ending of "The Dark Knight Rises" makes me thinkk...that perhaps something bad could happen to Bond? Similar to what has happened to him in the finales of the novels "From Russia With Love" and "You Only Live Twice"? I thinkkkk...I am also going to prepare for that scenario. :-O
Just think about it. In ALL Bond films so far -from 1962 until "Skyfall"- Bond always survived. We hardly know any other scenario than that Bond survives the villain. And despite some sad ending -Bond losing two loved ones, Tracy in "OHMSS" and Vesper in "CR"- he was perhaps emotionally bruised..but he didn't die. Nor there was a real cliffhanger that makes us wonder what happened to Bond.
It is different in the novels from Ian Fleming though. In "You Only Live Twice" bond survives, but barely. He sufferes an almost fatal head injury during the finale in Blofeld's "Garden Of Death". And in "From Russia With Love" it's a real cliffhanger. Readers experience how Bond is being fatally poisoned by Rosa Klebb, unless the real film.
Perhaps this kind of scenario will not happen at all. BUT remember, Sam Mendes is directing. Combined with all the rumours about Craig leaving, I think this could be one of the best kept secrets of "SPECTRE". But I can be completely wrong also :-). What do you guys and girls think?
