@Peter. I think it was a magical time. Lightning in a bottle. Fleming, Maibaum, Young, Barry, the art direction... It can't be recaptured.......

    Absolutely.

For old times sake, I want to feel that magic again.

I know everyone is fed up with spectre, but it seems there's heightened geopolitical tensions around the world at the moment (just this week in Taiwan) and if EON want to be topical without p***ing off a certain market, then spectre could be the ideal avenue for that. Think about the vague "enemy" in TG: MAVERICK but it actually has a name. That would work a lot better than a plot about AI or such, because while it is prescient, how memorable were the surveillance and nanobot plotlines from the last two films? Or the water scheme from Quantum for that matter? Indiana Jones is best when he's fighting the natzis, maybe Bond is best fighting some secretive organisation thats meddling in international affairs and creating mayhem on the global stage.

He was fighting a secret organisation in all three of those films.

Well, Silva's motivation for beginning his criminal career was because he'd been knifed in the back and it was brought to an end by him being literally knifed in the back. It's the circle of life...

One of the reasons I love QoS is, it's the only Bond fim Craig's Bond and the main villain fight it to the death. The rest of Craig's Bond villains that one would expect a major confrontation to happen, are killed far too easily for me.

I see this as good news; any tangible progress will be covert.

To be honest, with the way things are at the moment, I'm more like hoping to be surprised by any major news...instead of expecting something to happen anytime soon. That way, mental health is at ease.

I believe the Mail wrote an article yesterday about leaving the door open for Craig to return. Something about Q’s technology being able to bring him back…

I couldn’t be bothered to even cut and paste. It was just too too much, 😂. They just have no shame when it comes to click-bait and, yeah, I clicked, so what does that say about me?

Yes, Wade said at the end of that piece that Vesper's 'little finger' quip was foreshadowing and Dan could come back for Bond 26 if MI6 find CraigBond's little finger and use Safin's technology to clone him. Assuming he was making one of those 'joke' things, but...😳

This is the one I saw... it'll give the Craig-haters something more to seethe about (I kid (kind of)).

It screams ‘fan theory’ so hard I can’t believe anyone would take it seriously.

At this point I’d really like a special James Bond themed It’s a Knockout (aka Jeux Sans Frontieres) where our top picks would compete against each other in races where they would traverse an obstacle course whilst wearing a tux, a jet pack, carrying a woman half their age in one arm and a comically oversized glass containing a martini they are not allowed to spill in the other. It would less silly than several of these Bond casting clickbait articles, and considerably more entertaining.

That's got Cavill's name all over it - he'd be the only man to reach the finish line! ;)

James Bond casting director says younger actors ‘didn’t have the mental capacity’ to play 007

The casting director for the James Bond franchise has claimed that younger actors showed they “didn’t have the mental capacity” for the role during the auditions process.

Debbie McWilliams, who has worked on the popular spy series since 1981, revealed that younger actors had originally auditioned for the lead role in 2006’s Casino Royale.

263 pages in, fans checking in, commenting, etc. Are the producers thinking about the next Bond as feverishly as everyone here? One wonders if there is the same sense of urgency.

If they were we'd at least have a first draft of a script by now...

The way that Barbara talks about Craig in interviews, and especially that Being Bond documentary, it comes off like the Craig era was specifically her version of James Bond, and that it meant something personal for her. I guess it's understandable since Craig was the first actor she hired for the role (Brosnan was Cubby's choice), but I wouldn't be surprised if much of her enthusiasm for the series has already been spent on the Craig movies.

That being said, I still prefer her producing these movies than anyone else in Hollywood at the moment.

Someday Bond will find his Favreau and Filoni.

Same could be said about Purvis and Wade. They are originally hers as well.

She is spot on with this, Bond should always be played by an actor from their late 30's onwards (Connery being the gold standard of exception to the rule)

Bond should always be played someone who gives off that certain world weariness the character needs

Which is why I would have dropped the Bond Begins aspect of CR. It was originally envisioned with a much younger actor in mind, but it sounded like the filmmakers never felt confident about actually going younger and couldn’t find an actor that would do it Justice, so ultimately picked Craig. Since Craig was roughly the same age as Fleming’s Bond on the page, might as well have dropped the conceit of him being newly promoted.

Though, I would have kept the PTS, because that was a solid opener.

This fan conceit that Broccoli could have kickstarted production yesterday needs to die. Fans are just being impatient and petulant.

There’s already been an article relaying that there’s a lot of work that needs to be done at MGM/Amazon in managerial positions before they can start on something gargantuan as a Bond production. Broccoli isn’t taking some arbitrary break just to annoy fans. She wants to have her ducks in a row so she can get something like launching a new Bond right.

    You're speaking too much sense @MakeshiftPython !

On top of the managerial issues, there is also the ticking down to a writers strike, and, the Directors Guild agreement is also coming to an end, so...

While I'm sure they needed a break post-NTTD, it seems like there are clearly some issues in the way of production now.

For me it’s way easier to have patience and wait for an actor transition, although this is the first one I’ve had since becoming a fan. Was much more painful waiting for Bond 25, both the suspense of finding out if Craig would return and then the cursed production process after that. I think there’s a higher expectation too of getting a film sooner when in the thick of an actor’s run.
