Who was the best 'one line' deliverer as 007 ?

I just thought about this last night and think it could be a topic to discuss on here .

Who is your best for the deliverering of one-liners from the Bond actors :

For example:

Sean "Don't worry,i'll tell the chef " Connery.

George "Maybe you should have been gift-wrapped " Lazenby.

Roger "A little restless, but i got off eventually " Moore.

Timothy " Looks like he came to a dead-end " Dalton.

Pierce " The things we do for frequent flyer mileage " Brosnan.

Daniel " That last hand, nearly killed me" Craig.

Rank your Bond's and the best quote you think he said or why you think he is the best one-line deliver .

For me it has to be Moore, the smooth way it just rolled of his tongue,my favourite being partly on my avatar if you read it ..

CONNERY : 0
LAZENBY : 0
MOORE : 1
DALTON : 0
BROSNAN : 0
CRAIG : 0

No question, Moore excels in that aspect, but I still prefer Seanery

IMO that would be Connery, hands-down. He gave his best lines in FRWL and DAF if you ask me.

Being a Lazenby supporter I hate myself for not backing him but he really couldn't comfortably deliver a one liner, Moore was very funny but every quip made you believe less in him as a character and more of him as Moore, Dalton's use of wit was very (martini) dry and dark but Craig and Connery are by far the best quipers managing to be both humorous and dangerous at the same time.

Err, Saunders...what are you up to there.
You just add 1 point on to who you think is the best at 'one liners' .

Scores without Saunders adjustments as follows so far :

    CONNERY : 4
    LAZENBY : 0
    MOORE : 9
    DALTON : 0
    BROSNAN : 0
    CRAIG : 1

Oops I'm very sorry, I totally misunderstood this discussion, I'm really not responsible enough to be left alone on this new format MI6. Sincere apologies to everyone.

Moore was the king of the one-liner :D
  • Connery did them great, but in fairness he has the likes of Joanna Harwood and later Tom Mackewicz (sp?) to go with. Brozzer could have been the best, but had slim pickings. 'See you back at the lodge' and other stuff from TWINE is very good. Moore had better jokes overall, but could also sound very arch and pleased with himself. Dalton and Lazenby in a league of their own for awfulness.

I agree. Moore's Bond was written with the best one liners and that;s a fact. Desmond agreed so there you have it

I have to agree that the one liners were never beaten from those films. They were excessively witty. DAF is probably is one great film for humour.

In the case of Connery and Moore, their personalities are part of the reason why those lines work so well. Many can do an impression in this world of those actors, but it is the look as well as face expression that is important.

  • For me it's close between Connery and Moore. But I think Sir Rog just shades it.

    Roger easily was the best.

I don't know if this is considered a one-liner, but I love the exchange between Rog and Maud Adams in TMWTGG:

Maud: Why should you trust me?
Rog: I don't. But neither will Mr. Scaramanga trust you if he hears about this interesting little conversation. Who knows....he may even use one of those little golden bullets on you. THAT would be a pity because they're VERY expensive.
