Oh trust me, GL. He's anything but that... :D

Without missing out on it, see him in Red Eye. That was the performance he pulled off that brought him on my radar ten years ago or so... He's a brilliant actor.
He gives an excellent, unsettling performance in that film. I don't know how I'd feel about him being Bond, however.

I saw it @ClarkDevlin. He was good, but I always felt that Rachel McAdam's character had the better of him from about the midway mark, and especially when they tussled at the end. Hence my point about him being a bit slight.
I know what you mean. Then again, Rachel McAdams is an outstanding actress, whose presence can hardly be topped (loved her chemistry with Robert Downey Jr's Holmes a lot). As for Murphy, I did enjoy his presence in In Time, too.

Definitely agreed there. If two people are on the screen and Rachel McAdams is one of them, guess who I'm paying the most attention to? That said, Murphy was excellent in Red Eye, as he is in just about everything I've seen him in. He's still not my top choice, but I could see him falling into a top 5.

So should we get Rachel McAdams as a Bond girl?
    She is talented and sexy.
Bond girls don't have to be British. so because of the love ive seen here for her seems like she would be an obvious choice.

I kind of think the American Bond Girls are not among the great ones when it comes to the best list. I don't know it's just... I never got used to them as Bond Girls... I'll make an exception for Holly Goodhead's beauty, but the rest... and especially the annoying Tiffany Case... well...

@clarckdevlin yess I know we haven't had good luck with American Bond girls but i guess is more because of not getting great parts than being bad.

Tery Hatcher was fine and did a pretty good job in her scenes with Pierce.
Would i have prefered Monica Bellucci? yes but I did like her take on Paris Carver and her back story with Bond.

So with a good script she could do perfectly fine. As much as people criticize Die Another Day and The World is not Enough The ones who had the good parts did a great job and causually happened that Denisse Richards and Halley Berry ended up with the worst lines.

I loved the world is not enough but any actress would have been ridiculous in that role and Halley she wasn't so bad the only problem people seem to have with her is Your Mamma line to Zao.

I used to dislike Jinx... Used to... Not anymore... But, still... I prefer posh British actresses as Bond Girls... the type Gemma Arterton was... who, regrettably, was underused... and wasted...

I'd be absolutely thrilled if they could get McAdams in a Bond film. Supposedly she turned down an offer to star in Casino Royale, but now that she's doing the Doctor Strange film, maybe she's not as adverse to franchise fare these days and would reconsider Bond.

As for American Bond girls, I don't think the nationality matters so much as the writing. They should just write a good character and then cast an American actress in it rather than trying to make the character "American", which I think is the mistake they often make. With McAdams, though, it wouldn't matter anyway, as she's Canadian. ;)

Very much agreed on the writing. There are plenty of talented US actresses who can make amazing Bond girls but if the writing is rubbish then that reflects in the characters. On a similar note, @wizardofice can assassinate the character of Rory Kinnear all day every day as he so often does; but Kinnear is a fantastic actor; but unfortunately for him he's had terrible material to work with.

Plot and character need equal and thorough care and attention and we just haven't been getting this consistently for years.

Id say European actresses fit more with the franchise tahn just posh British girls. And I did like Jinx as well but Halley could have been beloved with better lines to say.

When she got out of the water she did have the woww effect on audiences, looks wise seems like everyone loved her the problem was the script.

Let's not get it twisted, lookswise, Halle has ALWAYS had the wow effect. Bond or no Bond. However, her character was horribly written and terribly realised.

Also I agree that European Bond girls, well women from anywhere really besides the UK and US fit the world of Bond better as they capture that natural authentic exoticness.

I find the Euro babes much more attractive personally, so I'll admit to a bias in wanting them in Bond films. Claudine Auger, Luciana Paluzzi, Daniela Bianchi, Izabella Scorupco, Carole Bouquet, Maud Adams, Barbara Bach (German, Austrian & Romanian mix) all turn my crank.

I'm not averse to US based actresses, but they just come across a little plain Jane to me. Maybe it's the way they're written but it could also be the accent, which is hardly sexy imho.

Totally gree on everything you said here but just one thing Halley she did look better on Die Another Day than she did in X men or the very talked about Sword fish.

Bond has been one of her best moments on film looks wise.

Her hair in that film( Swordfish) was a little distracting. I didn't like the hair style in that film

Agreed. The American Bond girls don't tend to work so well. French probably comes top, followed by English and Italian

I know we have our very own German Lady, but has there been a German Bond girl in the films?

Probably but I can't remember when.

If not, might it be time?

Alexandra Maria Lara would have been good. i think she might have been better in Sp than Seydoux.

True. Craig has been bingeing on Frenchies - every film infact apart from QoS.

If you wanna count the Video games then Heidi Klum was the last german Bond Girl as far as I can remember.
Tomorrow Never Dies was a wasted opportunity, Since they could have easily made Paris Carver a german, cause the movie played In Hamburg. But instead they cast an American, which made zero sense
