Two characters who resemble Bond to an extent:
I'd recommend The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot

Busy man! Did he kill both on the same day?

If we do, hopefully most of us will have the sense to wait until a great deal of time has passed after the release of NTTD out of respect for Craig. 😉

Won’t need to, believe you me. Some hack will see this thread and report it as ‘Bond fans are up in arms demanding Aidan Turner for next 007’.

Oh believe me. My real answer to the question "who is your choice to play Bond" is as it's always been since 2006: Daniel Craig. But he wants to move on and I understand that. No matter how much I love him as Bond, I don't want him to be so sick of it, he starts sleepwalking through the role as bad or worse than Connery did in YOLT. I sure am going to miss him though, he revitalized the Bond series for me and he ranks second only to Sean.

Completely with you, I can't get into the next guy because the next film isn't even out and also Barbara has more than hinted this is not even on her radar at the moment.

So we are likely looking at 5 years more more before the next one, so the map of who are possible candidates could well have shifted significantly.

I imagine they'll be looking for someone different enough from DC to distinguish the next era but the way they approached casting of Bond 6 is unlikely to be diverted from, so no I don't see someone who is a name getting the role.

It will be more than likely someone who hasn't a significant role in their CV already. They need to be a blank sheet so that when people go to see Bond 26 it will be to see James Bond not someone who is famous for other things.

Roger Moore may well have been very successful in the role but there were some that at the time could never see past the fact he was the Saint previously.

Both Connery and Craig had no significant role to being cast, hence why they are perceived on the whole has being the most successful actors to play the role.

I agree with this @Shardlake ... after the successful Craig run, theoretically having a blank slate gives the next actor the best chance to carve his era. We won’t know his acting “tricks” so his Bond portrayal will naturally be seen as a fresh take on the character.

Aidan Turner is in my mind the obvious choice for the next decade of films

Very sensible. EON must at least screen test him for the role. He really is the guy to bring Bond back in a big. Audiences are hungry for it.

He has my vote ever since I first saw ATTWN back in 2015. Amazing to witness how his support has grown since then.

The other choices people suggest like have a couple bondian elements, but no one else has the full set like Turner. He is, in my eyes, born for a role like Bond.

Theres no doubting we need to get back on track with fully realised Bond, and Turner has the looks, charisma and acting ability to pull it off.

If @Shardlake was right about five years until the new Bond takes on the role, Aidan Turner will then be 42, which us nearly the same age Dalton was when he accepted the role. I sure as hell don't want it to be five years though. Three at most. Get him while he's younger and he'll be able to do more films, especially if the wait between Bond films during his tenure would be as long as it's been for Craig's. Let's put out NTTD, market it, say our fond farewells to Craig and get on the ball ASAP about getting Turner hired and ready to go, like they did in the old days. Ideally.

Unless Barbara suddenly has a change in her attitude I really can't see her casting an actor this soon to have a new film out in 3 years.

As much as fans want it, I don't see the recasting of another actor, writing a screenplay ready to shoot being done in any sooner than 5 years.

She certainly won't want to pull the trigger on her next actor till she is entirely sure on this.

Fans might not like this but I don't think that actor is Aidan Turner as much as many here want it, I said before, he is the new Clive Owen.

Mark my words it will be another situation like Craig, an actor hardly anyone has heard of and not with any defining roles in their CV.

If Turner is the great actor his fans say he is he'll be snapped up soon enough, he is attached to a TV series about Leonardo Da Vinci, not sure if that is limited or will be on going.

If this is a hit and he shines could well be the project that sees him come to others attention, I personally don't think he'll ever be Bond.

At least Brosnan had charm in spades and could act in a narural type of way, whereas Cavill seems artificial in many ways. Cavill basically is a handsome bastard with lots of luck.

But Brosnan was still lacking in charm compared to Connery or Moore. Cavill was good in The Man From Uncle....but that was a cool, stylish, glossy and shallow affair....the Bond role needs an actor with more than just the look and charm. Aka not Cavill or Brosnan types.

LOL! I guess it depends on what you call charming. I found him tiresome and obnoxious in MFU, so much so that I just stopped watching the film 30 minutes in. Especially after the fight scene with Hammer which was a direct rip off of the bathroom fight from CR. And I honestly don't understand how anyone is coming up with the notion that he's wooden from.

You can put me down for James Norton as well and Dan Stevens. Hopefully not Aiden Turner.

Yes have to say James Norton seems a more likely contender than Turner. Dan Steven's also has to be a contender.

He looks the part but his acting is pretty weak. I thought he might have potential a while back but having seen him in a few things I don't think he has what it takes.

James Norton can be excellent. He has potential IMO.

Babs will make the decision and she will want a solid actor. I think Norton hits the mark. Just can't see it being Turner.

Fair enough. None of the names currently under discussion make as much sense to me as Craig did in 2006. Babs made the best choice available at that time.

We can only hope her good sense for casting Bond continues.
