We fans mostly judge the official Bond films based on really obvious criteria. So, who is your favourite Bond extra during the reign of Chairman Mao, that's DN - TNWTGG.

4 POINTS - The best extra

2 POINTS - Alright, not as good as the best though

1POINT - Not quite as good as the second best.

So we are voting for something like: "The guy who stands next to Anya at the bar when Moore approaches" - that kind of description? This will not be easy for me. I'd have to actually watch the films again. Others can probably hop right in.

And what is your rating? :)

I'd say..........@RC7 is the best and funniest extra ever in Bond history. 12 POINTS :-*! What you say to that.

    Haha what a thread!
The best extra is in TMWTGG, his name is Chongqing Kim PingPong. He can be seen in a riksha in Macau, he has a very good facial expression and out-does Moore in terms of acting in that scene.

    4 POINTS - Junkanoo Three-Legged Dog

Not the clearest picture, but the dog in TB surely gets the most points for peeing on camera:

2 POINTS - The guy sitting next to Bond at the casino in DN:

Funny how the least little thing amuses him. I believe his name is Tad Smiley...

1 POINT - In the scene where Goldfinger gets sucked out of the plane, an extra appears out of nowhere lying on the floor. Now that's talent.

This guy would go on to do big things, starring in films such as 'Where Did He Come From?', and 'How'd I Get Here?'.

I get that this is just meant to be a fun thread, but am I the only one who thinks it's a bit unnecessary and just takes up space? I think these things have gone a bit too far now.

You're not alone in having that thought - trust me!

I still want to see the original poster - RC7's - choices.
Start a thread but not participate yet ... come on, @RC7. ;)
I don't see finding extras to be easy, but maybe that's just me.

It was my intention to make this very point. I just wanted to see how many people took if on. As it happens, it seems a lot more fun than the usual 'rate your top 5 songs'. Who'd have thunk it?

How about a thread for the 'Top 5 Most Unnecessary Threads?" ;)

I'm sure that this thread would enter that chart at No. 1!

Why pick Chairman Mao. Why not say, from Kennedy to Ford for example. I've read this thread from top to bottom and can only go along with some other participants in saying it's all a bit of a nonsense and not really necessary, with all due respect to the author, but will duplicate what @QBranch said in an earlier response as the three best background extras

Ten minutes of my life I won't get back !

And how the hell did we even go from "Favourite title sequence from GoldenEye onwards" (which I feel was already way too specific and narrowed down to make an entire topic out of) to "Best uncredited background extra in the era of Chairman Mao's reign"? That's got five layers of specificity in it. I'm not trying to rip into the thread, honestly, but if I were a mod I would probably lock it at this point. Just comes across as spam to me, which is disappointing as I find MI6C to be an extremely productive and thought-provoking forum that has allowed for honest, detailed, in-depth, and constructive discussion. Topics like these just feel so out of place, unfortunately. Got nothing but love for you, @RC7, but I'd like to make a motion (if that's even a thing on the internet lol) to lock the thread.

The thread was a joke guys. If it needs explaining, a lot of ranking threads seemed, as you point out, arbitrarily specific. I think a few people got it, while others did what I thought and played along. Let's lighten up around here. So to answer your question @Baltimore, why not Chairman Mao? I may have said 'Best sound recording during the reign of the Khmer Rouge' it doesn't really matter. I was just amusing myself. All that aside, I'm not sure why it should specifically be locked. Content seems pretty harmless.

I realize it was a joke, but if so I'm sure there's a different section of the forum it would've been more appropriate in. Again, I see it as spam. I get that you meant no harm by it, I just feel it should either be locked or moved.

I got the joke, but couldn't resist the urge to post something- especially considering there's not a lot of discussion about the extras.

I know, nice one @QBranch - you actually put the same number 1 that I would.

Is it spam? It's effectively asking to share your views on uncredited extras. The Chairman Mao steer is arbitrary, only as much so as many other ranking threads.

Regardless of it's intent, this thread is actually great and quite funny. I hope we continue to find strange background players.

I second that! I love the guy from Dr. No beside Connery- he looks like he's from another planet!
