  • Heh! That's a good one even if it isn't the answer!

  • I love my hot wheels V8, I actually think it's the best model we've had of that car so far!

  • That's the one! Lovely stuff =D>

  • That's an interesting point yeah, I don't disagree, there is something a bit odd about the focus of that scene being the crowd in danger. But also I'd say that Cubby quote, if it's right, is a touch rich- even in something like the Paris car chase b…
  • Yes I prefer the SF fight too; plus it's just more exciting because there's more at stake. I get the sense in the second Patrice fight in the skyscraper that they really know what the other is about to do like a dance, but again it's more exciting …
  • Ah lovely! That's a great connection. Okay, I have one, although I'm slightly worried it's been done before. Feel free to yell at me if it has! DAF GE SF It involves Bond, and these aren't the only films with this connection.

  • No, those aren't UK numberplates. They've made replicas for some reason and got the font completely wrong, I've never understood why they've never replaced them.
  • I think it's mad they've replicated the weird incorrect numberplates on the Lotus from the Ian Fleming foundation-owned prop.
  • Or alternatively, for those without a northern chip on their shoulder ( ;) ): because that's how it looks like it should be pronounced. Two As often are pronounced as an 'aar' sound: bazaar, baa, aah, aargh etc. In this case though, yeah, it should …
  • He also fumbles a few gags too for my money: quite what he was doing with Elvis I'm not sure, and I don't think he was either. Tonally he doesn't really work, like the simpering look he gives at the opera, and when you do two gags with him which req…

  • Oh sure, it was just an observation. It's probably that Bond gets shot in all of them but GF, where he only gets shot by a dart gun maybe.

  • That does look pretty stunning.
  • Funny, just thinking about this clue I realise Bond only fires a gun in one scene in GF, when Tilly gets killed. Unless I’m missing one.

  • I've heard it said that film might work better if you chopped out the whole car chase so it could start with the Mr White conversation. Obviously it'd be a shame to lose an action scene, but I can see the logic; you'd be eased into the film a bit mo…
  • Thanks for these, a couple of those sound worth a look!
  • Maybe TB as the only one he opens the armrest without pressing a button?

  • 007HallY wrote: » It’s the nature of Bond really. They’re always individual adventures with returning elements each time, whether characters, tropes, some overarching plot threads etc. I don’t see any reason to break that precedent with either s…
  • To be fair, Dench M appreciated Bond was her best all the time, as did Fiennes M for more time than he spent shouting at him. And Bond has always been the slightly maverick figure who gets chewed out by M: that dynamic was established right from the…
  • When they were making that car they were going bankrupt every other week. Mind you, they probably still are, seems to be their business model.
  • I posted that in the Goldfinger 60th thread. The official video is a little nicer. I love the homer in the boot, nice touch.
  • 007HallY wrote: » I think the route they'll go in is less an origin story but simply a very important mission for Bond. Perhaps one where he has to make a difficult decision over the course of the film and come out better for it. Something that im…
  • Yeah, I want continuity, a story thread through linked films, I want drama for Bond and MI6, and I want some sort of introduction to the characters and set up, whether that's seen as an 'origin' or not doesn't matter to me, a story has to have a beg…
  • I think the 'face' of this new batch of Astons looks great, they've really nailed it. The Vanquish does look a little too similar to the Vantage though for my liking: they even use the same lights, which I'm not sure they've done before across two m…
  • I got my CR delivered a couple of weeks ago but because I've been on my hols I've only just now been able to open it: it really is a lovely thing. It's a proper hardback printing, no dust jacket- it's very nice indeed. If anyone asks me about edits …
  • I thought the Bourne films were superb, but they're also quite of their time and to me feel dated in a way that the Bonds of around then don't somehow. They had a real freshness and represented something new and exciting, and now we've moved on from…

  • Yeah, it's a kind of bit of repeated wisdom, but I'm not sure where it's ever been established officially. Film-wise, Boothroyd in Dr No is addressed as 'armourer'; Q in FRWL is referred to as 'the equipment officer'; he's called Q in GF, but no men…
  • I love them, but aside from the traitor angle (quite a lot of the films have baddies who are IMF agents) I think the biggest recurring plot point is there’s something very dangerous which shouldn’t be out in the open, but Ethan has to let it out (of…
