  • Yeah, I’m not sure what the IFP/Amazon thing was about…. Maybe there’s an idea there that if Amazon want to pursue spin offs they could use some of IFP’s properties in exchange for advertising? Personally I’d say beyond Fleming and perhaps CS Amazon…
  • I would hope the main goal of any producer in charge of Bond is to keep the character and those sorts of traits as fresh and modern as possible. Again, a period piece is potentially an admission of defeat in that sense. But hey, like I said the audi…
  • I can definitely see some audiences being put off of such a Bond movie and it appealing to a much more narrow group of fans. It’s quite a noteworthy change in direction and without some sort of incentive to go and see it even I’d give it a miss in c…
  • I’d say for better or for worse, James Bond as we know the character is through the movies, at least for the vast majority of people. He’s somewhat fixed in his personality/attitudes and habits, but ultimately he always moves through the modern worl…

  • Yeah, to be honest I think they can do much better than Ritchie (I like some of his films, but some much more than others, and I'm not sure his recent work really grips me). Bond needs a director who can bring something more.
  • I feel Soderbergh would end up being another Boyle in practice. I really like both though, but I can imagine getting an off the wall Bond film from either that might or might not work.

  • I’ll admit my almost total ignorance about guns here, but from what I understand the PPK is such a standard issue gun for army and even certain police officers that something about a high ranking secret agent using a weapon is oddly kinda noteworthy…

  • I get a Clive Owen impression off of James personally. He’s a good actor but there’s something a bit ‘ordinary’ about him which I don’t think is a good quality in Bond. The sort of thing where in theory you could argue he could do it, but in practic…
  • I think the LTK ending would be stronger with more of a heart to heart with Leiter/Bond’s phone call, but ultimately I think it makes sense to end it the way they did (the winking fish is a bit silly, but not unprecedented for a Bond film). The F…

  • Oh, I'd definitely recommend the original Suspiria too! The 2018 version is quite different (I'm actually not a big fan of it, but can appreciate it).
