Thanks! It's the US hardback cover of Raymond Benson's The Facts of Death (1998). I love Bond in Greece!
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
Correction: it is actually the US first paperback edition cover art for The Facts of Death.

I need to get a new avatar so took my old one down and so it's in default mode at the moment. I'll think of something soon to replace it hopefully!

      I like it!

      Dragonpol
Back to the original and probably best.
    • Thunderfinger
      Thunderfinger
      Is that really the original?
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
No. It was something else. A picture of a 1930s gangster with a tommy-gun outside a car I think.
    • Thunderfinger
      Thunderfinger
Mine was a Horak in colours.
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
Nice. I was thinking of changing it to a comic strip Bond funny!
  • ClarkDevlin
I see you've put the 'Longbarrel' Colt in use, 007. Always assumed it was a revolver rather than automatic...
    October 2016
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
It looks like an automatic in the picture though I'm no expert.
    • ClarkDevlin
      ClarkDevlin
Was only speaking in character. Haha! That one is a Colt M1911A1. Something I always assumed was the pistol that Bond kept in his DB Mark III instead of the longbarrel Colt (a revolver) Fleming refers to that was found in his Bentley's compartment many times.
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
Ah, I see. Have to say I'm not familiar with the character but it is a nice avatar I like to think.
    • ClarkDevlin
      ClarkDevlin
Oh it was nothing strange. I was just trying to speak like M. Haha! The avatar from what I remember was, perhaps, a mock-up edit over a promotional Hitman wallpaper. I think you'd enjoy that franchise over the literary medium, too, @dragonpol. There are currently two novels and one of them is written by Raymond Benson. It's primary medium is the video game industry, to be precise.
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
Yes, I will have to check that out, ClarkDevlin. Thank you for the recommendations.

      Dragonpol
Thanks! Yes, that is my default avatar, though I change it occasionally only to come back to it again. I believe the image comes from the cover art of a German novel of the 1920s. The man kind of looks like a magician so it's in keeping with the real Dragonpol in a way. I also really like cats and need to possibly start a thread about that.

  • ForYourEyesOnly
Thanks! He's an underrated M and I like all the M's equally, IMO. They had their strengths relating to a particular Bond. It's just a shame Robert Brown's M was the most underwritten and he was never really able to flesh out his character.
    November 2015
    • Dragonpol
      Dragonpol
Yes, I like Robert Brown but perhaps OP and LTK are his most effective performances.
