    In an interesting place where I haven't posted here (or seen a Bond film) in well over a year, save for showing my girlfriend Skyfall recently.

    Here's my list from the gut, from memory, without looking at my most recent one. This should be fun, and probably will make me look like a bit of a hypocrite. Chances are, if I watched all 24 in the month of May and looked at this list I'd be appalled, so don't crucify me.

    Some of the last films I saw were a Moore double bill after he passed. For Your Eyes Only grew a lot in my estimation in that theatrical presentation. Loved it.

    I think that's the lowest I've seen OHMSS ranked in some time. However, you have a solid top ten that keeps me from crying "blasphemy ".

    Overall excellent ranking @w2bond.

    Though I think you're the only one where Connery is the last of the 6 to pop up in someone's ranking.

    @GoldenGun number 2-7 are interchangeable…depends on my mood. Both Dr No and FRWL are excellent. Some say other films improve on DN…no they don't. All DN needs is a Barry score

    @Remington OHMSS was once ranked dead last (or near it) in my list. The reason? Lazenby. Don't find him convincing. I know popular opinion on that has changed as time has passed, but I think his performance is incredibly lacking on several fronts.

    That said, the film has slowly moved up (and likely will continue to do so) because everything else in the picture is phenomenal, top tier. Aesthetically it is one of the more interesting Bond pictures, and the cast around Lazenby is probably top-five in the franchise as well. The screenplay is also a stand out, Hunt's direction is fresh and confident, Savalas is the best "shown" Blofeld by a mile.

    Every Bond film I have from like 10-16 feels too low because of how good they all are.

    After the excellent viewing some friends and I had the other night, LALD has jumped up two spots to #5, the highest that it has ever reached. After about a year and multiple rankings, QOS seems to now sit securely in the 9th position, seemingly extracting itself from what had been a perpetual four way war with YOLT, GE and SF; however, those three are still so tightly locked together that I wasn't comfortable with any arrangement that they were in. The new ranking above seemed the most palatable, if still a bit arbitrary. My appreciation for FYEO continues to grow, but it just can't break into that Top Twelve; those ones really are my clear favorites, whatever the order. The rest haven't moved more than a spot or two each in either direction. I enjoyed TND, MR and TWINE more than I had in years in the last few viewings, but there really is no place for them to move to. Of course SP remains at the bottom.

    And let's hope it stays there; I'd hate to think that after a five year wait I am subjected to another dud. That would mean that I will have gone at least a decade (SF - 2022, for BOND 26) without a satisfactory Bond film. For a poor fella like @Creasy47, who didn't like either Mendes film, that's 14 years. In the '60s we got a masterpiece every damned year for half a decade, then every other year. Studio problems, etc., there is no excuse for letting it drag out as long as it has. Then the nerve of expecting general audiences to remember or care about events that occurred in previous entries spread out so far as they have been.
    You and I are in complete agreement (or at least I think we are, based on my last ranking; going through the films again now) on which films ought to represent the the top half of the series, except one: DIAMONDS. I'd have that over GE in a heartbeat. Aside from that, excellent. Although I would always encourage everyone to move YOLT higher, especially in that war it seems to have gotten itself involved with for final placement in your top ten.

    @Birdleson Glad to see the sixties on top there. I think the only one of them that doesn’t make my upper half is TB.
    Our major difference are the Dalton films as usual, guess that will never change ;)

    Apart from that we are the same, as Scaramanga would put it.

    Me too, SP has been the biggest letdown for me as well. It’s the very first Bond film that I do not intend to buy at any point.

    I agree. Unless there is some solid movement with Eon, and a long term plan for the future in regards to a distribution deal, I'd guess we only have one or two movies left in the tank before it runs completely empty.
    Perhaps twenty years afterwards, someone else will come along, acquire the rights to Bond and bring him back in some form. By then, though I don't think it will even remotely resemble the character and series we know and love.

    Couple of recent changes round the middle of the pack for me. SP has moved up slightly, along with DAF and OP. LALD is the only one to drop a few places and I feel rather guilty about it..

    So depressing but probably true. Barring SP though I am a big fan of the Craig era. After him and Bond 25 though, the future becomes even more scary and uncertain. Whatever happens we had a great run.

    Just watched Thunderball. The underwater scenes were less tedious this time. Also TB has the advantage of good theme songs, good female cast, and the funniest script in the series.

    I'm not the biggest fan of the finale (probably the world's first instance of shaky cam) or the underwater shootout, but everything up to that really works for me and is done with a lot of style. It's still my firm #2 Bond film.

    I must be one of the few who doesn't mind the shootout and final fight. Sure the back projection on the Volante is overdone, but the fight is intense and well done, unlike say the next film in the series.

    TB will still be in my bottom half, only because there's a lot more films i enjoy more
