Brilliant Bond

  • For me, LTK takes the cake. Previously there had been great *moments* of Bond outsmarting someone but a large part of LTK is Bond outsmarting Sanchez. Brilliant stuff.

Correct, however the plot itself is somewhat based on Yojimbo. Still, you are right, Bond made all the right moves here.

    Here's a classic:
"Let's have a little fun with Mr. Goldfinger."
It's incredibly funny to watch Bond cause Goldfinger to lose the golf game, and even better when Hawker decides to get in on the joke!

I'd like to add in TSWLM when Stromberg asks Bond about whether, as a 'marine biologist', he recognises a certain fish. Just as the grin of triumph appears on the villain's face, Bond reels off its exact name and some information about it. I guess he revised for his fake identity test.

To a lesser extent in CR, when Bond calls White to keep him still long enough to shoot him.

I never thought of that scene that way. Interesting.

Actually, thinking back to it, he had turned and walked when he was shot. So I'm wrong :P

So another would be, in CR, when he tricks the guard in Venice and comes around the back of the pillar to shoot him. Or when he sinks the house just to throw the thugs off :P

I like when Bond tricks Dimitrios into a losing hand and he gets a 64 Aston out of the win. /:)
  • Pierce again, in 'The World is not Enough' PTS:

'Perhaps you've failed to take into account my... hidden assets'

    Classic..
  • In DAD, I've always liked the moment where he hits that man, puts him in the wheelchair, buenas diases the girl, and infiltrates the clinic.

Also, the way he doesn't fight in the gypsy assault. He just pushes tables into the water, uses arrows to collapse tents, good fun!

Working with Lupe to get of Sanchez's island is also great, hanging outside the boat. LTK is full of great outsmarting the bad guys moments
  • someone mentioned the Professor Dent killing in Doctor No, that was a classic example, 'That's a Smith and Wesson' and you've had your six', Pillows in the Bed, Connery takes him out with his Walther, very good scene from a standout release

Tricking Seymour in LALD into sleeping with Bond by fixing the tarot cards

Diamonds bit with two Blofelds, kicks the cat to false Blofeld, taking him out 'Wrong Pussy'

Absurd scene near the end of Golden Gun but nonetheless, inplausibilities aside, Moore imitates his statue and fools Scaramanga

    Loaded Dice at Kamal's club

Setting up Milton Krest in License To Kill

Shocking Dr Kaufmann with the cell phone in Tomorrow Never Dies

Traction spikes on Invisible Car in the Ice Palace chase, Die Another Day

Casino Royale- "I know where you keep your gun."
  • I wonder if Dalton knew that about Ms Bouvier when they were riding in the elevator

    As a kid I used to think this line from the PTS in Tomorrow Never Dies was amazing;

Admiral Roebuck: What the hell is he doing!?
    M: HIS JOB.

In Moonraker in the PTS when Bond uses his stolen parachute to get rid of Jaws.
In Octopussy when he gets into a bag where used to be a dead body to get out of Khans fort. Also, During the scape when he uses the belt to make the henchman fall of the elephant.
In OHMSS when Bond uses the cable to get out of the place where he is being held captive.
In DAD when he uses the ring to scape.
    In YOLT with the cigarrete.
In QOS after killing the man in the hotel using the case & Camile to get to Greene

In CR to use the free runner's phone to find Dimitrios, when not even the MI6 had thought of doing that...
  • QoS - DC's escape from the hotel. Very Connery and very Bond - the elegance of jumping around from a staircase bannister to the other side - just love it.

LTK - basically all of it. Dat film is brilliant Bond.

PB's tie wiggling when he does something extra Bond - love dat too.

Hahahahahaha! Knowing Bond and his ladies, he probably did!

    1. the way Bond tricked Goldfinger when he was about to be castrated by laser.
    2. The way Bond in LTK tricks Sanchez into taking out his own henchmen (Krest, Heller, Lodge)
    3. Grant and the briefcase

  • QBranchQBranch Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

    The seduction of May Day.
  • I bet Moore hated that scene at the Zorin mansions as he and Grace Jones were not 'best of pals' at time of filming, I don't know quite what issue Moore had with the singer but that bedroom scene must have been painful for the actor. I'll bet he enjoyed the explosion outside the mine though, I'll bet he had a smile at that

    Or

Both proof that Pierce could be ruthless when he wanted to be.

Love that TND scene with the doctor. He also outsmarts him by telling him to use the phone to unlock the car, and he tazers himself! Its great moments like this that are proof that we need the gadgets back.

LTK, in the PTS, sanchez thinks he's safe now, and then suddenly bond flies down and clips a wire onto the plane. Actually, basically the whole film was bond outsmarting sanchez. He's really at his best here.
