NSNA features four actors whose work I like a lot: Klaus Maria Brandauer, Max von Sydow, Edward Fox and of course Sir Sean.

However, it just misses that sparkle that even the worst EON Bonds still have. Moonraker, for instance, is ludicrous, silly and at times very stupid but it has that special atmosphere that every EON film has and I miss that when I watch NSNA.

I'll easily take NSNA over TWINE. They're pretty much on par in terms of atmosphere (lousy), but NSNA has big Sean.

Is NSNA better than any actual bond films ?

    Nope.

It is in my opinion. Fleming inspired script, great villains, great Bond girl, great locations, brilliant one liners and.......Connery. Its better than DF, TMWTGG, MR, OP, AVTAK, GE, TND, TWINE and DAD.

I'm finding my ranking is forever changing in 2017. More so than ever before. Watching the films in random order, but in chronological order of the actor playing Bond has been an interesting experience for me. Started with Pierce Brosnan and moved onto the Daniel Craig films. Currently making my way through the Roger Moore movies and then I'll visit the Timothy Dalton ones. Then onto the Sean Connery films, ending with OHMSS and George Lazenby.

A few weeks ago my ranking looked like this...

    1. From Russia With Love
    2. Dr.No
    3. Casino Royale
    4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    5. The Living Daylights
    6. Octopussy
    7. Goldfinger
    8. The Spy Who Loved Me
    9. Thunderball
    10. Goldeneye
    11. Live And Let Die
    12. For Your Eyes Only
    13. You Only Live Twice
    14. Spectre
    15. Licence To Kill
    16. Skyfall
    17. Diamonds Are Forever
    18. Die Another Day
    19. Moonraker
    20. The Man With The Golden Gun
    21. Tomorrow Never Dies
    22. A View To A Kill
    23. Quantum Of Solace
    24. The World Is Not Enough

The Man With The Golden Gun could easily move up a couple of spots, and switch places with DAF. Really enjoyed Golden Gun this time. Haven't enjoyed it so much in ages.
The Spy Who Loved Me might go up a spot. Along with FYEO. Though I'm always left in a quandary as too which films to drop down. LTK has often taken the hit, along with SF and even my beloved OP has dropped to sixth spot. Oh the hardships of being a Bond fan sometimes. ;)

@benny Wow. We share 6 of the top 7, 10 of the top 12, AND the bottom 2

What does the cumulative ranking look like now?

    @IGotTheMessage

As of today with 124 unique rankings, the MI6Community cumulative ranking is:

    1. CR (2515)
    2. OHMSS (2426)
    3. FRWL (2398)
    4. GF (2190)
    5. TLD (2057)
    6. SF (1959)

    7. TSWLM (1911)
    8. DN (1905)
    9. GE (1896)
    10. TB (1780)

    11. LTK (1685)
    12. SP (1594)
    13. FYEO (1581)

    14. LALD (1378)
    15. OP (1362)
    16. YOLT (1277)

    17. QOS (1238)
    18. TND (1111)
    19. TMWTGG (981)
    20. MR (935)

    21. DAF (909)
    22. TWINE (885)
    23. AVTAK (759)
    24. DAD (470)

    * 24 points to 1st and 1 point to last place.
    * The films are separated into 6 tiers which I have found to be very consistent with other Bond forums and also ranking found across the internet

    Observations:
    * Since Spectre's release, Skyfall has fallen / TLD has risen. AVTAK has fallen
    * The "general population" view OHMSS, TLD and OP less favourably, and view Goldfinger and TWINE more favourably
    * FRWL and OHMSS are the only films without a 23rd or 24th ranking
    * YOLT/LALD/MR/OP/AVTAK/DAD do not currently have a 1st place ranking post-spectre

    1st place breakdown
    CR (21.8%)
    FRWL (16.1%)
    OHMSS (15.3%)
    GF (11.3%)
TLD (8.1%) - interesting to see this here

    24th place breakdown
    DAD (37.4%)
    DAF (10.6%)
    TWINE (8.9%)
    QOS (8.1%)
    AVTAK (6.5%)

Casino Royale '67 is basically an Austin Powers movie

Like Diamonds Are Forever. Except CR67 had a shred of innovation

CR'67 shouldn't even be discussed in here,it is the biggest crock of shit known to man.

To even compare it to DAF is an insult to any EON Bond film.

Great minds @w2bond. Great minds my friend.
Just finished the Roger Moore Bond films. Was a little hard to get through, especially since his passing. Sir Roger always has been my favourite Bond. Even the low ranking AVTAK was more enjoyable than normal. Maybe for sentimental reasons, but despite everything Sir Rog always gave Bond his all. You could never call him bored. His charm and personality is more than evident. He was a very good James Bond in my opinion.
I could once again re-rank some of these films. I think I'll watch the Dalton duo before I do that though.

To get something of an idea of the sentiments amongst the population at large, we can use the audience scores for the films on Rotten Tomatoes. I found the results very interesting. If we do that it comes out like this:

    1.) Goldfinger 89℅
    2.) Casino Royale 89%
    3.) Skyfall 86%
4.) From Russia With Love 83%
    5.) GoldenEye 83%
    6.) Dr. No 82%
7.) The Spy Who Loved Me 76℅
    8.) Thunderball 73℅
9.) You Only Live Twice 69%
    10.) The Living Daylights 66℅
11.) Live and Let Die 65%
    12.) On Her Majesty's Secret Service 64%
13.) For Your Eyes Only 64%
    14.) Spectre 61℅
    15.) Licence to Kill 60℅
    16.) Diamonds Are Forever 58℅
    17.) Quantum of Solace 58%
18.) The Man with the Golden Gun 56%
    19.) Tomorrow Never Dies 53%
20.) The World Is Not Enough 49%
    21.) Octopussy 47%
    22.) Moonraker 43%
    23.) Die Another Day 41%
    24.) A View to a Kill 40%
25.) Never Say Never Again 37%

This is my compilation of the "population at large" rankings (since Spectre). This will inevitably contain some rankings from Bond fans too. It's not too different from the pre-spectre list. I got this from youtube, blogs, social media (forum, reddit), and entertainment sites.

    1. CR (3296)
    2. GF (3109)
    3. FRWL (2964)
    4. SF (2895)
    5. GE (2823)
    6. OHMSS (2650)
    7. TSWLM (2468)
    8. DN (2299)
    9. TLD (2199)
    10. LTK (2189)
    11. SP (1976)
    12. TB (1879)
    13. LALD (1814)
    14. YOLT (1808)
    15. FYEO 1789
    16. TND (1654)
    17. TWINE (1348)
    18. TMWTGG (1314)
    19. QOS (1272)
    20. OP (1210)
    21. DAF (1089)
    22. MR (1025)
    23. AVTAK (1025)
    24. DAD (565)

Not too different from RT either. Except OHMSS is too low on RT

OHMSS, with its miscast lead actors and ill-conceived script, is a dull, overlong affair.

How do you think the script is ill conceived? Do you mean the basic plot?
