Me neither. The character Fleming writes about is none of those on screen.
Try as I might to picture Connery, the brain always defaults back to Moore, but more like the Moore visage in the LALD poster art.
This happens no matter what Bond I am reading, be it Fleming or one of the continuation novels.
Bought several on Kindle, pre university I read four books a week easily of any subject. now I never seem to have time, though revisiting good literature need not be rushed.

Those are my first and second favourites, too, but because I like the settings and I like how the romance plays out (OHMSS takes the third slot).

With the disclaimer that I haven't read Faulks' contribution, I will say Benson is by some measure the weakest writer we've had on the series. He wasn't a writer—he was a fan—and that shows in his novels. Some of his characters, action sequences, and plot points feel reasonably well suited for a 90s or early 00s action movie, but his prose is as prosaic as it comes and he included a few too many overtly juvenile and/or rather un-Bondian moments. I enjoy his first couple adventures for their cool locations (Hong Kong, Athens) and for some of the action sequences, but his approach grew old fast and I'm not happy with his treatments of Mathis and especially Draco. Plus it was rather weird to be having characters from the 50s/60s still functioning in the new millennium. I understand the films kind of did a similar thing with linking Dalton and Brosnan to Tracy, etc., but not so overtly as to have Tiger Tanaka join Bond on a mission in 2002 or thereabouts.
Got an an "Exclusive Signed Special Edition" with Behind-the-Scenes material, imported from Jolly Old, as the Cole Young Bonds don't seem to be available here in the colonies.
I am proud owner of all three Cole YB hardcovers, the last two signed.
I've read the dust jacket. Ready to dive in to the opening chapter.
I thought the first two Cole efforts were excellent, so I expect no less from this 3rd installment.
