Looks like Omega have announced the 50th Anniversary Seamaster with very little fanfare at all, what do we think?

I like everything except all the 007 logos across the face, maybe if they had been spaced out more or just one of them below the omega logo? Do you know the price tag?

I agree, the 007 logos seem a little messy (for want of a better word). Maybe over the top. A more subtle but still noticeable logo would've looked better and been more in keeping with Bond's style.

I think the background is more subtle in real life (it certainly is with my 40th anniversaty one). Certain light brings it out more but you don't really notice it much.

Interesting they've gone for a darker colour than most Seamasters featured in Bond. I do like it.

Loved it. Where did you find it?

I had no idea it was out, I called in to my local Omega dealer to pick up my wife's Seamaster Quartz which had been away getting a new battery (£90!), and the sales manager pounced and asked me if I'd like to pre-order one, as I got my Casino Royale PO from there.

I think I'd need to see one in the metal before committing and he was a bit vague on the price!

Looks nice. The back is indeed very beautiful.

Do we have any price information?

My local dealer was vague on the pricing, I quote 'probably two or three hundred quid more expensive than a standard one..'

Well, actually Omega have not announced it at all, to date...

It seems like you were the only one to spread the word on the web.
Maybe you would like to share with us the source of these pictures - I don't assume that you took those at your local Omega dealer with your mobile.

Heven't they? Are you sure about that, obviously when he asked if I wished to pre-order one, that was because they are not available yet, therefore I couldn't possibly have taken a photo.

Perhaps you think I'm a wizz with photoshop.. ;)

Alternatively, you can pre-order your own right here...

It's just a little bit odd:
    - "Banks Lyon" is the only dealer on the internet offering this watch.
    - Googeling the Model Nr. does not render any results, except for Banks Lyon, again.
    - There is no official announcement by Omega - neither on their site, nor anywhere else
    - On the internet there is only one other thread about this watch on watchuseek.com - started by a user who learnt of this watch when he picked up his wife's Seamaster, that had the battery changed for 90 quid - somewhere I've heard that before...

Thank you, but I think before deciding about pre-ordering this watch I'd prefer to wait for Omegas official announcement.

Peter Jackson also announced via their Twitter ( @pjthejeweller ) account this week, they even have a price, £3160-00, they also have posted several official Omega photos like the one above, you can pre-order from them as well, but not on-line that's why I posted the Banks Lyon link.

As for watchuseek, I'm a long standing member of the Omega forum, obviously I was bound to post a new Seamaster on there, it's of great interest.

For reference, it was almost three months after the Basel show before the new Planet Ocean made it on to the official Website, they are notorious for taking ages to update the site with new models.

I'm unsure whether I'm reading something into your tone that isn't there, I'm not trying to sell this watch, nor solicit pre-orders, I have no affiliation to any Jewellers or Omega, I just knew there are a lot of 007 & Omega fans on this board, and thought I'd share what I'd been told with people who'd be interested.
  • I have to say, this looks official Omega to me....

Look, when I tried to find more information about this watch, I encountered the above mentioned situation which (for comprehensible reasons, I think) seemed strange to me. Furthermore I can't tell if Banks Lyon is a trustworthy vendor, as they are simply not known to me.

Therefore I would have liked to know if there is another source for your information and photos other than your unnamed Omega dealer.

What I wanted to say I actually did say. I'm not saying that you are trying to sell this watch or anything, but we all know, that there are lots of funny people around the web doing funny things. That's the reason why I would have liked to see rather an official Omega announcement than some pictures in only one online shop or in two forums from the same guy, whom i don't know and whose skills on photoshop I cannot assess ;-)

You may feel flattered here, because if this was photoshop it was darn good work!

I did not wish to appear defensive, and it is difficult to detect what tone people's posts are made in, there are actually better pictures on the peter jackson's twitter feed if you can access it, that's where the his and hers photo came from, (they are also my local AD).

Omega have made a habit of releasing information to Authorised Dealers before it hits the official website, it's something they've never been particularly good at, Basel World from last year was a prime example, official photos of the new models were months behind the unoffical shots posted from the exhibition.

Not a bad looking watch at all. Thanks for linking to that, it seems everyone is getting in on the 50th anniversary act.

I've never understood these wateches, they do this all the time. With CR they brought out 3 watches, the smp, the ltd edition smp with the gunbarrel motif on the dial and the PO. Then with QoS, you had the various POs, the ltd black smp and the PO with QoS plastered and etched onto the crystal. These anniversary gimmicks and Bond ltd edition watches are bs. Just give me the actual watch Bond wears and I'm good. Needless to say I'm frustrated as there's no concrete info on what actual watch Bond will be wearing for SF.

Love the reverse side, classic. Though the 00 logo's look a bit crowded it doesn't overpower the overall look. Would like to see one for my self. Will keep a look out in the US.

It has been reported that he will be wearing a Titanium PO with a blue face - to match Craig's eyes...

That's a rumour. As I said there's no concrete evidence of this at all.

Indeed, you would of thought, from Omega's point of view, the sooner they release details of the Skyfall watch the better, it makes no business sense to keep it a secret and rule out months of potential sales.

They should make a new Zorin watch , this time featuring the airship ;)
