    Nicely done @Birdleson. You spoiled a couple of nice clues I had been working on too!

    1) For a fee, he was happy to be my backdoor man.
    "Would I be calling if I didn't have money?" Mathis asked him when they first spoke on the phone. Later, Mathis ended up in the back of the car. It could also be a reference to Carlos taking the payoff to recognize Medrano as President.

    2) One of these things is not like the others.
    He has one gold tooth.

    3) This place is a source of discomfort to my backside.
    He complains that the compound being run by fuel cells is a "pain in the ass."

    4) I like people who's friends of people.
    He is nice (at first) to Mathis' friends, Bond and Fields.
