    This. The best Moore film and my personal favorite of all of them. To me, this is was the refined and superior Goldfinger, even though I know many would bash me for this.

    Let them bash you all they want. It sure as hell doesn't plod in the middle like GF, and actually allows 007 to DO something...

    Mm. It's also got a better car chase/action in general, more of the iconic scenes, a better henchman, and better settings. More advantages over Goldfinger than GF has over it.

    While I'm definitely more a fan of the more tonally balanced Connery era than the more tonally camp Moore era, and while I enjoy watching Connery as Bond more than I enjoy watching Moore as Bond, no Bond movie better integrates all the 007 ingredients than TSWLM -- not before or since -- not even GF or GE.

    I'm starting to agree with this - sat down to watch it yesterday evening again (little one interrupted it so will have to conclude it tonight) for the 1st time in three years and it really is a sort of 'best of'. I'm not sure any other Bond film comes close to it's all encompassing nature

    TSWLM really is the quintessential Bond movie, even if it isn't the best Bond movie.

    Considering that is uses no Fleming elements other than the title, as the novel is really the memoirs of woman who falls in love with Bond and his her account. Credit to Christopher Wood and Richard Maibaum who wrote the film story.

    I will also say GE. It literally exists as a "Greatest Hits" package and people eat it up. Every cliché is present from big villainous base and chases to puns, casino scene, double entendre name, and even the DB5. Everything smacks of been there, done that.

    Yes, I agree here too.

    It's not as quintessential as TWSLM (box tick wise) but certainly it has many of the requisite elements, and like TWSLM, everything seems quite fresh and charismatic although it's something we've seen before.

    There is only two Bond films that has skiing action, underwater action, gambling, and Bond destroying a supercar. They are FYEO and TWINE.

    I agree with Goldeneye you just forgot a party or elegant Casino scene so Bond can wear His Tauxedo and the Bond girl a beautiful dress.
    The Tuaxedo and elegant dress scene is a most and got very picky with it since my visit to the designing 007 expo where there is a room dedicated to the Casino part.

    Actually that's my biggest beif with Spectre even though i loved it and got most of the Important moments this lacked a nice party scene.

    I just hatted the scene they picked for the black tie clothes. It was so meh to get them dressed up
    Just to dine alone in the train and its not like the train was very glamourous.


    If they would have picked a train in first class like in Casin Royale where Bond gets his lamb i would have accepted it more their clothes in the train but just to have them without a nice occasion its a big no.

    Feel bad for saying so and going all nip ticking on missing that party moment but that is a crucial element for me.

    Thunderball :

    Good Bond Girl
    Evil Bond Girl
    A good car chase scene
    Bond receving the mission
    MoneyPenny
    Getting his gadgets from Q
    Action underwater
    Action out of water
    The elegant Casino or Party scene.

    the only thing missing is the henchman or woman

    Die another day

    Bond getting his mission from M (well after he is useful Again)
    Q scene
    Good Bond girl
    Evil Bond girl
    Car chase scene
    Party scene
    Excentric Villain Gustave Graves
    Henchmdn( Zao)
    Bond in a Plane.
    Aston Martin well not the classic one but definitely had an Aston Martin

    Good point re GE, perhaps they wanted to ensure that the audience accepted the new Bond so put him in as many Bondian scenes as possible
