    you get frightening...no, not because you place DAD over SF :))

    but because you seem to be my long lost twin brother when it comes to Bond rankings.

    Not exactly news I know, we have realised that before as our Top 6 was made of the same movies.

    But now, that I have started another Bondathon I consider FYEO and MR Top 10 material. MR was on spot 11 before. FYEO went from 15 to No 7.
    Meaning 9 out of 10 movies are the same in our Top 10 now!

    And even further down in the list it is very similar, with notable exceptions being DAF which remains my No 23 and DAD which is now on No 12 (down from 10).

    I will give my new definitive ranking when I have finished the Bondathon. I'm watching 2 movies a day in random order with someone that hasn't seen most of them.

    GE was so close to being booted off 6th, but I love Campbell's direction, and the characters. Spectre has a chance of knocking it off.

    I wonder if our reasons are the same.

    Don’t judge me on some of the rankings, I've been a Bond fan since childhood in 1987 and I've a soft spot for the mid-Moore outings, I watched them as a kid and I always liked their locations and action sequences, they followed the formula well.

    Tomorrow Never Dies I visited the set of, so again, sentimental reasons. It’s also a strong action film with good pacing… anyway here’s the list.

    That ranking is absolutely great. Anyone who has GE, CR, OHMSS, OP, FRWL , LTK, TSWLM and TND in their Top 10 is spot-on and even TLD almost made that Top 10.

    Any man who puts Octopussy in their top ten is alright in my book. Solid top ten all round. A few films I'd put in different spots across the whole list...Doctor No is very low. But that's the joy of being a Bond fan with 23 films to enjoy.
    But OP in a top ten or higher. You're on to a winner. ;)

    OP is one of the biggest winners in my ongoing SP Bondathon.

    I can't not like that film. The pacing is amazing, Moore is brilliant and everyone is extremely charismatic.

    The only issue is the Tarzan yell, hiss off, sitttt, eyeing up some boobs with a seriously outdated camera, and making fun of the locals during the rickshaw chase.

    If not for the above, it would be a top 3 or 4 for me. It's that entertaining, and so much fun.

    Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan are screwed in this poll. No TOP 10 for these actors :-). Three of Brosnan's outings can be found in the BOTTOM 10. So sad....

    The new movies will always be higher in polls.
    In 10 years we would get a better picture.
    But to say the Craig era is a 2nd golden age is ridiculous.
    It has produced ONE great classic that is CR that will stand the test of time.
    SF on the other hand will have the same fate as TB and be nowhere near the top.
    And QOS...well...

    Someone is ridiculous, I'll give you that. If you want to look at it that way, you can. It's not the success of each film that makes it a Golden Era. It is the overall quality, excitement and perceived renewal that makes it so.

    Well everything can be seen from different perspectives. If you put it that way, I go with it. 2nd golden age.

    Interesting poll. My rankings are slight different, but I can respect the results from this one.

    -There's definitely some pro-Connery bias out there. GF isn't even his best!
    -Agree with the placement of Craig's movies.
    -Agree with the public's rank of OHMSS. I don't see the classic that most Bond fans see.
    -Dalton gets crushed here. Ouch! Are they serious?
    -Good on the poll on recognizing DAF's flaws, but it's still getting a Connery boost.
    -Brosnan and Moore's films are about where they belong. GE could use a bit more love.
    -If SP is good, there's going to be a lot of public talk about Craig being the best.

    During my recent Bondathon, Dalton took a bashing (I still like him, and he may be Fleming's Bond, but he was too uncomfortable in way too many scenes for my liking in a back to back viewing with the others).

    Brosnan was much smoother, but too lightweight (literally and acting wise) to be memorable beyond GE (which was great primarily due to the Campbell's brilliant direction and supporting cast choices - anyone could have played Bond in that film).

    Moore was well above average in his best entries but perhaps too pretty to be deadly enough in the role. His line delivery was brilliant though and he certainly had the gravitas and smoothness required.

    Lazenby was physically brilliant and did vulnerable best, but it's not possible to judge him properly on that one film (which happens to be an amazing novel to film and is an incredibly choreographed movie with a magnificent turn by Rigg).

    Craig has a bona fide all time classic in CR (I will post my review in the Bondathon thread shortly) but has been uneven since. QoS is highly underrated as a film due to the idiot who did the editing, and SF is overrated (based on my recent rewatches).

    Connery is the man (based on the Bondathon). Nobody even comes close to him. He has 3 classics (yes, including TB) with the Young trilogy.

    Yes, @Birdleson, I agree that Moore was pretty bad when he was playing it for laughs.

    I personally have never really been able to get into GF (I think Connery's performance in that one is a little goofy compared to the Young films...definitely noted it during my recent rewatch.....the edge that Young gave him seems missing to me....the killer look/stare/delivery). I however respect the film immensely for its undeniable contribution to the history of the franchise. Without it, Bond films would be far less iconic. Even SP is going to borrow heavily from that blueprint (larger than life villain, grand sets, tricked out Aston, spunky heroine, thuggish henchman etc. etc.).

    I was just watching an interview with the cast from Airplane featuring the late...great...Leslie Nielsen.

    He said that "in comedy the moment the audience can see you know the joke, its over and they don't laugh".

    It made me realise that both Brosnan AND Moore were guilty of this (Brosnan particularly).

    But its one reason I'm not a fan of Moore in MR. He's too knowing of the fact its all a joke. Hence I don't laugh.

    Some notes:

    - Surprised myself with how "high" I put Quantum of Solace. It hasn't been in the top 15 for a while.

    - Skyfall is not a top 5 entry for the first time I can remember.
    - Lots of 6/10s, I notice. Some fight an uphill battle to get that '6' (Diamonds Are Forever) and others fell from a better score to get it (Quantum of Solace). A lot of those movies were hard to place and are viable to change at any time.

    That's a very decent list you have @matt_u a very good top ten anyway. Hard to fault that line up.
    And also a very nice top 12 from @007ClassicBondFan . Always like seeing OP make anyone's top ten. But anything over 13th is good. ;)
