As I mentioned in my previous post, I did the same thing on IMDB ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2379713/board/thread/245015308 and http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000075/thread/245297664 ). And down below you can see the standings after 61 voters have casted up there. Remember, IMDB-voters, not necessarily the biggest Bond fans:
    Lzk1fu.jpg

And after that I compared the rankings, and my only conclusion is: A lot of similarities!:
    3ttc2U.jpg

Like @AntiLocqueBrakes already mentioned, it gets slightly 'wishy-washy' from 13th towards 20th place. There you see a bit more discrepancies. That can be easily explained, because one top vote can do a 'lot of damage'. To filter that out, one needs a lot more voters. Like in real statistics, a pool of 750 to 1000 voters. But that's off course impossible here :-).

I think the rankings from 1st to 13th place and then from 21st to 25th place are way more accurate. And there you see.....quite a lot of similarities. As a matter of fact, 9 films had the exact ranking in both polls. And besides that in the TOP 13....sometimes only one spot difference, like "Skyfall" and "GoldenEye".

Interesting though.....there's slightly more love for the Brosnan films outside this community. "Quantum Of Solace" is unanimously 'hated' on IMDB :-P.

I'm surprised how low DN and TB are. Both brilliant films for me. Good to see that IMDB users rate OHMSS so highly.

    Thanks for compiling that @Gustav_Graves.

I'm happy to see that, apart from OP (which I rated higher than the average voter), and GF (which I rated much lower than the average voter) all my top 10 are in the eventual list.

Not surprising, because the top 10 is credible as far as I'm concerned. I still think GF is overrated due to its understandable nostalgic impact at the time of release, but that's just me it seems.

I like GF because of Connery and the faithfulness to Fleming. However, for me it's the weakest of the first 4. Some great one liners mind. The public rate it as it was the beginning of the Bond craze.

Actually, I completely agree with you. I think GF has this 'cult status'....that will only slightly wear off in several decades from now :-P.

Funny you people say this because GF has been my No 7 Bond movie for practically decades (No 6 even before CR).

Finally I got over the nostalgia and respect for its legacy and ranked it properly which means it is now my No 13 Bond movie.

We now move towards an era where GF is underrated & CR is overrated...

    1. Casino Royale
    4. Goldfinger
    7. The Living Daylights
    14. Octopussy
    22. A View To A Kill

5/23 match the MI6 community aggregate based on my most recent vote. 8/10 of the top titles also find a similar placement in my rankings. The two that didn't are the following:

    11. The Spy Who Loved Me
    16. Thunderball

very funny to see AVTAK somewhere at the bottom and OHMSS somewhere at the top. can't see what's wrong with AVTAK - okay, a screaming Stacey - and I can't see what's there to enjoy about George L.'s Bond.

In case people forgot to read my previous post on page 60, here are again the ranked results from this topic over the year 2015:
Like in the polls I created on here, I did a very interesting ranking.

    1. I took all people's latest/newest updated TOP 10 rankings (Many people give their updated rankings several times).

    2. I only looked at the posts from this year (1st of January till now. Sorry, because of all the work I didn't see you @walter1985)

    3. Then I added Eurovision style points to each and individual TOP 10 ranking:
    no# 1 - 12 points
    no# 2 - 10 points
    no# 3 - 08 points
    no# 4 - 07 points
    no# 5 - 06 points
    no# 6 - 05 points
    no# 7 - 04 points
    no# 8 - 03 points
    no# 9 - 02 points
    no#10- 01 point

    4. With this system I could add the TOP 10's of 54 forummembers. I added them up all together. And this is the TOP 25 ranking so far:

    IMiA06.png

The funny thing is....the results are almost exactly the same as a similar poll I am conducting on two topics on the IMDB-forum: "SPECTRE"-topic and the "James Bond"=topic. Those results I will post later, so you can compare.

So....as I mentioned above, I did the same thing on IMDB ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2379713/board/thread/245015308 and http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000075/thread/245297664 ). • Nice to see GF at 4th, because of all the bashing it gets on here i would imagined it being much lower. And it only finished in 10th place in the Bond Film Elimination Game.
  • Changes all the time but here we go:

    1. Casino Royale
    2. From Russia with Love
    3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    4. Dr. No
    5. Licence to Kill
    6. Skyfall

    23. Die Another Day (close one with Moonraker and Diamonds, but this was the most disappointing first viewing)

  • Well, I don't think my ranking is that odd. I do have all 6 actors in the top 6, which shows that I don't let favouritism get in the way in my ranking.

Not sure if "odd" was the right word. What I meant was "atypical."

    1. Living Daylights

Funny that you should mention that, I was thinking about it yesterday. I guess it's because the series was in its very beginnings, I didn't enjoy as much as I did next few. I think when you look at FRWL, GF and TB you see three films that we're confidently made, acted by a lead who was completely comfortable and almost "living" that role. DN itself, while enjoyable, to me was just that little bit "tepid"? No one knew exactly what they were doing and, to me, it shows. As I said, I still enjoy the film. I just think that it lacks a little something that the later films have.

Here's my compilation of rankings from MI6, CBn, AJB and randomly sourced from the web (youtube, entertainment websites, reddit - not truly representative of general population as the list includes Bond fans)

Interestingly, the tier lists separated by colour match @Gustav_Grave 's MI6 findings (except TND), even though he only did top 10. His community rank is similar with a few movies out of place.

    A few disclaimers:
    - The Bond forum ranks only include post-Skyfall lists.
    - 23 points for 1st rank and 1 point for 23rd. These are all added up per film
    - Website ranks may be missing CR, QoS, SF. 3 lists did not include CR, 6 for QoS and 33 for SF. The number before the slash is the score before extrapolation.
    - The extrapolation was calculated by (23-[average rank]+1)x[number of lists film is missing from]
    - There may be a few overlaps in the Bond forum lists due to some members putting their ranks on multiple sites
    - Some member's like to update their lists every 2nd week, so I use everyone's latest list

    Observations:
    - GF tops the general population list and still ranks highly on Bond Forums, as does GE. Both films seem to be touted as overrated on forums.
    - LTK and FYEO always together with LTK on top.
    - DAD universally hated
    - Despite small groups liking QoS and hating SF, both films are still lower and higher ranked respectively
    - TLD, OHMSS and OP fall a few places on the general list
    - I'll publish this later, but LTK has a very high percentage of 1st place on both CBn and AJB (about 10% compared with MI6's 3%)

It would be interesting to track rises and falls in average rank over time (eg DAD's from 2002 to 2006) but the sample sizes are too small

Wow, some big surprises in my latest Bondathon. My thoughts on the films have stayed mostly the same throughout the years but there have been shocking changes to the list.

The Living Daylights remains my favourite film, and unexpectedly, OP jumped from 6th to 2nd. Both are full of tension and move at a quick pace with plenty of action and drama.

You Only Live Twice and Tomorrow Never Dies are the other big winners, the former from long term last place to 14th and TND up 6 places to 9th.

The Gilbert films have grown on me hence their higher places, whereas the Hamilton films continue to bore me for the most part even though they have some classic moments and characters - DAF ranks highest at 12th.

The losers are GE which I used to love and has now fallen to 6th, AVTAK has slipped over the years although I still enjoy it, TB which I thought I liked but the movie just drags, and this brings me to the most controversial placing of Skyfall at 20th. While it's technically very well made and acted, it bores me for the most part, my favourite aspect is the dialogue. I placed DAD above SF, shoot me

The untouchables. Spectre will have a hard time cracking the top 5. GE is on shaky ground

    1. The Living Daylights (+3)
    2. Octopussy (+4)
    3. Casino Royale (-2)
    4. From Russia With Love (-2)
    5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (-2)
    6. Goldeneye (-1)

    Excellent, could easily rewatch
    7. For Your Eyes Only (+2)
    8. The Spy Who Loved Me (+4)
    9. Tomorrow Never Dies (+6)
    10. Moonraker (+12)
    11. Dr No (+5)
    12. Diamonds are Forever (+1)
    13. Licence to Kill(-3)

    Flawed but enjoyable
    14. You Only Live Twice (+9)
    15. A View To A Kill
    16. Goldfinger

Mostly pacing issues (TB) or just downright bad (DAD)
    17. The Man with the Golden Gun (+2)
    18. Die Another Day (+2)
    19. Thunderball (-11)
    20. Skyfall (-13)

Didn't do much for me (unfortunate because LALD has many good scenes)
    21. LALD (-5)
    22. TWINE (-4)
    23. QOS (-2)
