Yes its goofy at times (the shot of Bond in the model crocodile has to be one of the silliest shots in the whole series), but I find it quite entertaining.

Going through a Blu Ray Bondathon at the moment. My, my, you do see the films in a different light in high definition!

Ranking thus far, which is a considerable change since my previous one-

    1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
    2. From Russia With Love (1963)
    3. Live and Let Die (1973)
    4. Thunderball (1965)
    5. Goldfinger (1964)
    6. Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
    7. You Only Live Twice (1967)
    8. Dr. No (1962)

For me OP is by FAR a better Bond film than MR. At least it has a plot vaguely related to espionage (and Kahn is a better villain than Drax).

Spot on, Bain- Octopussy at least tries to mix its occasionally goofy antics with some serious Cold War spying and kickbutt action sequences. Moonraker, on the other hand, stays goofy and never really, if you'll excuse the pun, comes down to Earth.

It's the "Fridge-factor". Rush to the fridge a few times at certain moments & OP becomes near perfect. With MR you have to hang out at the fridge.... :))

Here’s a very old ranking I did around 1994, before Goldeneye so it just contains what I would term as the classic series. Looks like I did favour the latest film quite highly at the time as well as a new appreciation of OHMSS thanks to the 007 magazine special. Prior to that when I saw the film 3 years earlier for the first time I absolutely hated everything about it!

    9.5/10
    Goldfinger
    On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

    9/10
    From Russia With Love
    Licence To Kill

    8.5/10
    Thunderball
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    The Living Daylights

    8/10
    Dr No
    You Only Live Twice
    Octopussy

    7.5/10
    Live And Let Die
    For Your Eyes Only
    A View To A Kill

    7/10
    Diamonds Are Forever
    Moonraker

    6/10
The Man With The Golden Gun

Wow! Congrats on finishing your Bondathan. I am starting mine with the new year.

Looking at your list, I would of course disagree a little for my own choices. But I see I also agree a good deal with yours. And I know that a certain sorely missed member, the late SirHenryLeeChaChing, would find a lot of merit in your list, @Birdleson. :)

I love TND, TLD, and FRWL, too.

I also dislike OHMSS; you and I are in a minority on this forum with that, @mirandafrost. :) But that's okay.

Interesting list @mirandafrost. Always nice to see Thunderball up high. I love the diversity. Being a Bond fan would be boring if we all agreed on everything.

I adore TND, one of the films I watch most often. Seriously, yes. And Brosnan's best portrayal; a great Bond.

I'll check the photo in your avatar in a moment ... :-bd

So I've done a compilation of rankings of the 135 people who have ranked the films since Skyfall. For the people who have posted a few times, I've used their newest ranking. I've also taken a few liberties with about half dozen people who had one or two draws in their rankings (I ranked them as the order listed) and one or two people who forgot to rank one film. I didn't include those who put the films in tiers and not numbered ranks

    So with that being said, the only films without a top ranking are;
    - TMWTGG (2nd-1 person)
    - AVTAK (2nd-2 people, next rank 5th-2 people)
    - DAD (5th-2 people, next rank 8th-2 people)

All films have been ranked 22nd or 23rd by at least 1 person except for:
    - FRWL (21st-1 person, the next lowest rank is 17th-2 people)
    - TSWLM (20th-2 people)

This is the number of people who have ranked these films 1st:
    -FRWL (33), CR (22), OHMSS (16), GF (13), SF (10), GE (8)
    -5 people for TB/TSWLM/TLD/LTK
Interesting the next highest is MR with 3 ranking it first. All other films have 2 or fewer people

In last place, an overwhelming 54 listed DAD. Next up is AVTAK (18), QOS (14), TMWTGG (11), DAD (10), MR (7). All other films are 3 or less

Interestingly 5 films only have a total of 4 or less ranking 20th or lower
    - DN (21st, 22nd)
    - FRWL (21st)
    - GF (21st x 2, 22nd)
    - TSWLM (20th x 2)
    - TLD (22nd x 4)

And these 4 films only appear in 4 or less peoples top 5
    - DAF (1st, 2nd)
    - TMWTGG (2nd, 3rd, 5th x 2)
    - AVTAK (2nd x 2, 5th x 2)
    - DAD (5th x 2)
