Who looked better at age 50? Moore vs. Shatner

Both men were television stars in the 1960's and were known for their dashing good looks. So who do you think aged better?
Roger Moore was actually 48 when filming for TSWLM began in August 1976. William Shatner was 50 during the filming of STII TWOK.

There are more unflattering pictures of both actors during those time periods. Both men looked great for their age but I think I'd have to vote for Shatner.

    I think Roger, his age really started to catch up in FYEO. Before that he looked really young and fit.

    Both look good for 50 in those images. I hope I look that good when I reach the ole 5-0. However it's a Draw for me.

    I don't think Moore's bond could beat up a Klingon, so I have to vote for the Shat. :))

    To get a fairer comparison, why not choose a picture of Moore from Moonraker?

    As a topic though I can't see this going anywhere. You may as well compare my dog and I.

    Should point out that Moore had his own hair of course, while Shatner's was a wig wasn't it? Those pics of Shatner seem stacked in his favour... Anyway, to answer Samuel001, Moore turned 50 on the set of TSWLM.

    BTW your dog looks cuter, Samuel001.

    No, Moore was 50 and turned 51 during the production of Moonraker.

    And yeah my dog is cuter but who cares? I'm OK with that.

    Shatner was folically assisted since season two of Trek in '67.
    Still, in Star Trek III at about 53 he was using Kirk Fu against Krudge like a madman.

    Only because I got the idea from watching TSWLM and TWOK recently. It's close enough isn't it? I admit that this is a somewhat superficial thread but it's just for fun and really it's a compliment to both actors.

    Really? I thought he mentions having his 50th party on the set of TSWLM and saying of course he always wanted to be 49 forever.

    I understand you. They both look great and I can only hope to look that good at their age. It's rather random that's all. It's something new to discuss, mind.

    Moore would of been 50 after the release of TSWLM.

    Well, both guys looked great for their age! Far more than average, plus they both had good looks in their favor any way.

    But I am going with Roger, if a vote is necessary. :)

    Bill gets my vote, and also for athleticism. You only have to watch T.J. Hooker to see this man ain't average. Remember watching an interview where Shatner stated he had extremely high serotonin levels.

    In his commentary on "TSWLM" DVD, Roger said he turned 49 when they were filming at the Pyramids in Egypt. Roger always appeared 10 years younger than his actual age, in my opinion, until about 5 years ago. I saw a recent photo of him and Michael Caine at a memorial service for Michael Winner. Roger looked every bit his age in that photo. Maybe attending funerals of friends has sadly begun to age him.

    The Shat was carrying a rather big round object around his waist so I think that goes against him.

    Strange thread, but I have to vote for Moore. Shatner looked good for a man his age, Moore looked younger than his age, until FYEO as one said. I forgive him for staying a bit long because FYEO and OP are maybe his best Bond movies. Shatner in Wrath of Khan played on Kirk getting old, which worked beautifully. In that way he used his age better.

    Well, here's a clip from the UK Nationwide programme with Moore talking about TSWLM, and while I always thought he looked young, he sure doesn't really.



    Youthful manner sure, and full head of hair, but wow he's aged since Golden Gun. Jowly neck, too.

    In LALD and TMWTGG, Roger wore his hair short and neat. But in Spy, his hair was longer. That and the fact that he looked to have gained some weight, made him look like he aged more than the 3 years since Golden Gun. Regardless, he still looked good. I'm not sure why, though, he went away from the shorter haircut. In Moonraker his hair was shorter and, he looked less heavy. But From FYEO and on, his hair got longer and weight went up, again.

    is that after the 1st 50 years or the 2nd as they are both near enough 100 now anyway! lol.

    I can explain the longer hair in later years, but you won't like it.

    Something of a combover going on, I'm afraid, certainly from Moonraker onwards.

    I'm not sure about that. It just seemed to be a change to the hairstyle he preferred and sported throughout most of the 50s, 60s, 80s and 90s. He did wear a very small toupee in his last few films but that was to cover a very small bald spot. He had a pretty full head of hair as late as 1996.

    I think a better haircut would have complimented His appearance greatly. I'll use Clint Eastwood as an example. By the late 70's on the top pf his hair was thinning considerably. When he tried to wear it longer it looked silly and forced. When it was shorter like in In the Line of Fire and even Space Cowboys in the late 90's it improved his look greatly. I think the same would have applied to Moore. If he was leaving it longer in an attempt to appear a bit younger it really had the opposite effect.

    Shatner looks better but is absolutely shameless and desperate. Uncle Rog has dignity and class, while Shatner is constantly making a clown of himself in desperation to hold onto his fame.
