Okay, I think it's Anya Amasova.

    I admire your courage, Mr...

    But alas, not Anya

I will repost the clues and who it isn't for the new page:

8.) Acknowledgement isn't easy to get around here, is it?

    9.) Curiosity killed the cat.

And here are all the wrong guesses thus far:

Hmmm...was it? Could be, but may not. /:)
  • Ah more clues have arrived, and still hitherto unresolved -

Hopefully these new clues will be of some use, and will have a latest attempt at -

    Not Whisper.
  • It's not the 3 blind mice from Dr No, is it? Some of the clues kinda fit...albeit tenuously!

Good show, Watson: You've cracked it!

    k11003424.jpg

    An explanation of the clues:

1.) An honor was bestowed that can never be given to another- The Three Blind Mice are the first characters we see in the history of the Bond films, an honor no other character/s can be crowned with.

2.) You will find no dental services offered here- One of the three mice (the one with the red hat) was the dentist of actor Timothy Moxon, who played Strangways.

3.) Boss hates loose ends- The mice are hired to kill off Strangways and his secretary as well as steal files on Dr. No to leave no traces of anyone finding out about him or his plans.

4.) Try, try, try again if you don't at first succeed- The mice try time and time again to kill Bond, never able to do it.

5.) Bond may not seem to like The Beatles, but Abbey Road is spectacular, it must be said- The mice are walking to kill Strangways in a line, looking a little like The Beatles on the cover of Abbey Road.

6.) It is never wise to disappoint a pretty face- The mice fail to kill Bond, disappointing the gorgeous Miss Taro.

7.) Bond looks stylish, but he isn't dressed for the right occasion- After Bond escapes the mice's tail on him and they roll down the hill to a fiery death, he says, "I think they were on their way to a funeral." Bond wasn't dressed in black as it is customary for the occasion.

8.) Acknowledgement isn't easy to get around here, is it?- Though the mice have the distinctive honor of being the first characters you see in the franchise, they are not credited in any way, shape or form. In fact, their title of "The Three Blind Mice" wasn't even mentioned in the film (obviously the lyrics caught on, hence they have the name we all know now).

9.) Curiosity killed the cat- The lyrics of "Three Blind Mice" talk about about the men killing a cat "that swallowed a rat" with a knife.

10.) Strange ways were implemented to meet the ends of the job- The mice pretend to be blind to appear harmless and get their kills. The beginning of this clue ("Strange ways") is also a play on Strangways, giving a wink their mission to kill him.

11.) If a bar is the setting, a Bloody Mary is the drink of choice- Strangways's secretary is named Mary Trueblood, and she sure is a bloody Mary after they are done with her.

12.) Don't you just hate it when a view to a kill is ruined?- The mice almost kill Bond outside his hotel, but fail in their attempt.

This was a hell of a ride to be a part of, and I would just like to thank everyone that stuck with me and kept guessing throughout the duration of this riddle. I know I tricked you a little by having more than one character (technically), but I thought it would be a great way to catch you off guard and build a fun "guess the character" round around such great characters important to Bond history.

Though I am a tad bitter over this, I bow to you @Rogertheclown for using amazing deduction in reaching your game ending response. I am honored to pass the next round onto you.
  • Are you kidding me, the answer was 'The three blind mice' ?

We need to make a distinction here between Guess the Character and 'Guess the Characters'

I never envisaged it could of been a mutiple character answer, rather than one individual itself, as would a great many others you can only imagine. I would never have got that, in that I was thinking only of the 'one character'

Has to be a first for these pages, and hopefully a last. You can't have more than one character to guess ?

In any event, it's a relief it's over after all that. Roger The Clown deserves plaudits for getting the answer finally, but a bit of a disappointing end to what was, a very good (and frustrating) latest round. I thought at times, this would never get solved
  • Wow - I'm in utter shock. That was a marathon round and I salute you Brady for a fiendishly difficult and brain puzzling round. I wasn't sure if characters were allowed, so I thought my guess might have been a silly one. I could see some of the clues fit though which is why I bit the bullet and went for it.

Anyway, I'm a newbie to this, so I'll have a go with a new round. I'm sure I won't come up to the high standards of Brady and Baltimore though. Here are some clues for you all to get your teeth into and this time we are looking for ONE character:

    Clues:

1/ What I bring to the table isn't to everyone's liking
2/ I already possessed what was pointed out to me
3/ I made myself heard without speaking

Ok, I think that'll do for starters. Enjoy!
  • Jaws?
  • Not Jaws I'm afraid
  • Is it the entire audience of the Tosca opera in Quantum of Solace ?

    In all seriousness,

Sounds like Prince Kamal Khan from Octopussy, but not 100 per cent on that

    Here's what I could recognize -

#1 Having stuffed sheeps head for dinner isn't going to be for everyone

#2 Khan was in possession of the faberge egg when Bond brought it to attention. (I mean after all, you do have the egg) - (True, but we don't have all the answers)

#3 It was Fanning who brought to attention the name of Kamal Khan at the Sotherbys auction without need for the latter to say anything

Going to look damn silly if wrong, but quietly confident
  • A sterling effort there Baltimore, but sadly not the character I'm looking for. Keep at it though! A few more guesses and then I'll throw in another couple of clues...
  • I have two names in mind, but will go this time with Vesper Lynd, Casino Royale

Only one attempt per post, so must adhere to the rules of the game
  • Posts: 1,817
    Is it Dimitrios?
  • May as well have another attempt while we're at it

    LeChiffre, Casino Royale

but that's about all for now

@Rogertheclown did suggest more clues would be available after further guesses, so we'll see what occurs at a later date
  • And the thread is alive once more...

Sorry but the answer is not Vesper, Dimitrios or Le Chiffre. Good to have some more guesses though. If we have a few more today, I'll add another clue to the pile
  • I'm thinking along the lines of Baltimore with regards to the stuffed sheeps head, and will hazard a guess at Gobinda.
  • Not Gobinda
  • A long shot, but what about Oddjob?
  • I still can't believe it wasn't Kamal Khan. All the clues seemed to add up

I'm going to say Bullion from The World Is Not Enough

    Solitaire LALD !
  • Not Oddjob, nor Bullion and neither is it Solitaire. I will be posting another couple of clues tomorrow. In the meantime, keep those guesses coming...
