Love Scene in the end must come back again.

Eh it's been overused so much it's a cliche. I'd like to have future bond endings have a different tone to each of them and so far each of the Craig movies have done that for me.
  • I liked the end of TND but the last two Brosnan films, no thanks because I couldn't stand the characters.

It may be a Bond cliche, but I want to see JB shacked up in the end. I was fine with the ending of both CR and QOS without the girl as it made sense and was original in thought. I was not happy though that he was not with Severine at the end of SF, nor how they wrote her character off. The next film needs to have more good cliches like the girl and the gun barrel back at the beginning, these are things that separate Bond from the others and are a timeless tradition that should be gotten back to.

It's not bad but it's predictable. But I'm sure it will come back for Bond 24.

I don't need to see a girl at the end. I just want Dan's Bond truly happy and content with himself at the end of it all. No mourning lost comrades or tearful goodbyes to cheating lovers. Just pure happiness to be alive.

I hope so, because I am getting weary of all this tinkering to no purpose.

  • You never know what they will come up with, for each release. But I don't think Craig works too well with having a girl at the end, in that, how it used to be before 2006. I don't necessarily want them killed off, but just for Bond to be on his own, or basically, no romantic stuff as most will remember it. I've been fine with all of Craig's releases, in that there was no Bond girl love scenes at the end, and may it continue even. Once again, it doesn't quite work for him

Let's not kid ourselves, some of the love scene endings of the franchise have been cringeworthy in the extreme. Berry and Brosnan, Roberts and Moore, Chiles and Moore, Blackman and Connery for example. Maybe with that in mind, it's best we don't see them again for a while longer, or it could simply be a thing of the past even ?

I would argue that these are not love scenes, but more the use of a sex toy and the woman more of a one night stand likely to be dumped the next morning never to be seen again. None of these love interests appear in any of the following films so where’s this happy ending mindset coming from!

This is just another crutch/comfort blanket for some to feel they are watching a Bond film. As has been said before quite a few of these scenes have been crow barred in to appease the fan wanking male audience. Besides wasn’t Severine a high a class call girl and Silva’s leavings, so wouldn’t there be more winging if the happy ending was Bond with a prostitute than him receiving his next assignment.

If it fits the story line by all means yes, but not because the scene wasn’t in the last three films and as been noted quite a few preceding films weren’t enhanced any when included.

Tinkering to no purpose has allowed the franchise to brake some of the shackles and explore other ways of making a film and we get something like Skyfall as opposed to stale bread a la DAD.

I loved the scene at the end of Skyfall, does that count?

But I do agree with @hisqos, some people use little elements of a film as a crutch. The only thing you need to know your watching a Bond film is Eon, a title sequence, and James Bond thrown in somewhere.
  • It's easy to say Craig and a girl in the end doesn't quite work when it hasn't been done yet. Let's do it next time and see what happens.

I do not see a girl in the end as a crutch or comforter, but rather as tradition. This didn't bother me in CR, where it was obvious to a blind man with a glass eye that Vesper's death was a key element of the story that could never be glossed over with a gratuitous conquest. Nor did it bother me much in QOS, as Fields was dead and the relationship between Bond and Camille grew way past flirtation and a possible tryst due to the emotional state of both and their focus in obtaining a "quantum of solace".

Skyfall though was a different story. Because Severine was a child prostitute, she's not good enough to be a Bond girl in the end? She had reformed in case anyone hadn't noticed, but was now relegated to servicing Silva, no doubt among his reasons for killing her much like Scaramanga killed Miss Anders, as a mistress cannot serve two masters. I am firmly in the ranks of nearly everyone here who feels her screen time was too short and that she deserved to be with Bond in the end. Her death was not necessary to get Silva over any more than he already was. She was nearly a perfect damsel in distress that Bond always manages to save, and unlike Richards and Berry with Brosnan, they had a chemistry going right from the moment where they lock eyes, her hair blowing in the breeze. In this case, needless tinkering.

So what would you jettison, add to the script to give Severine more screen time that’s not contrived and cliched to ensure a more satisfying film ending of Bond rolling in the sack? As I’ve said before if the storyline calls for it then yes. I Suppose Moore Bond not ordering a Martini in his 7 films is acceptable and wasn’t missed because Grandpa Bond made re-entry? I just can’t get my head around or take seriously some of these pet peeves.

I agree, but the Bond film can't be a serious one though (by that I mean CR or OHMSS serious) for some it would ruin the ending. Anyway, I doubt the next one will be TOO serious, I think, like SKyfall, it will be stand alone without too much involvement from MI6 and no big death of a certain character of importance, unless it's an ally in the film, like Sharkey or Vijay.

I don't agree we should bring any element in the Bond series back now just for "tradition for tradition's sake." And EON has done a great job putting new twists on old classics (see the returning characters in Skyfall).

That said, part of Bond movies is wish fullfillment. We want to see 007 hook up with amazingly beautiful women. So far, every girl Bond has touched has died. (With the exception of a characterless fling while Bond is "enjoying death", the beautiful Camille than Bond barely gives a peck on the lips, and Eve, who I maintain Bond did not consumate a relationship with). We don't need to end with the camera fading to black and the girl moaning "Oh, James" right as the credit rolls. But Bond should have a girl he's romanced make it through the mission in one piece, if only because even though not all of Ian Fleming's novels ended with Bond getting the girl, many of them did.

    I prefer the SKYFALL-esque ending.

What would you define as Skyfallesque? Because
M dying in Bond's arm, only to be replaced by a bureaucrat who has just proven his/her worth to 007
will get old faster than seeing Bond on a different boat with a different babe each movie.

No, maybe he meant the real ending,
Where it looks on and maybe sets up the next film.

I want this Bond girl to survive and for her and Bond to be smooching as the film fades out. So yes, I'd like that to return.

I seen SPECTRE Today. It was good something I alway expected but Bond was the end with girl but he drove off with his Classic Aston Martin DB5 with his girl. That something good if I not mistaken.

I do like the ending with the Love scene, especially if we are talking about Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery.

Who cares if Christmas Jones was a terrible character, it's Pierce at his sexiest hehe and the last scene with the diamonds in Die another day looked just fine with me.

Well im not gonna lie any love Scene with Pierce Brosnan or Sean are more than fine with me, at the beginning, the end or middle of the film.

*raises hand* totally ruined. Those scenes are awful and not at all sexy, ruined by horrible puns.

Now, give me shoulder biting Pierce Brosnan in TND, and now you're talking.
