I'm starting to feel the Amazon Bond era may end up like that DIE HARD 6 prequel MCCLANE or LETHAL WEAPON 5. Those films were in development but never actually came to fruition. Same with George Hamilton's LOVE AT FIRST BITE sequel.

I do hope 2026 gets us closer to a new film, but I'm not expecting any news.

We will 2026 we be the year of amazon bond news!

Let's hope so! I'm feeling a Bond drought lately. We need our hero back. :)

With 27 films to entertain us, I don’t feel that Bond is ever far away.

If you’re waiting for News, then it’s a long way off.

If you’re not waiting for news, it could be just around the corner.

Wanting something to happen isn’t going to make it happen any sooner.

Logically speaking, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t learn more in 2026.

Bingo. Amazon are being very deliberate. It doesn't seem like they are moving onto the next step before the previously one has been completed. They have all the money in the world, there's no need to rush this.

Very well said, @Benny. Couldn't have said it any better.

And if 2026 brings no news, what then? Concern, or relief? My early worry was that Amazon might try to squeeze the franchise for all it’s worth with a flood of series, spin-offs, and hastily assembled films built from familiar clichés and Bondian formulas. They may still choose that route, but for now they’re proving those fears unfounded. Perhaps this slower pace is a sign that they truly care about quality over sheer output. That's my hope, at least.

For what it's worth I'd be surprised if we got absolutely nothing about this in 2026. And while we know there's no time frame (or indeed deadline) as of now, we simply don't know anything one way or the other about what they're doing. Apart from the fact that a script and, by extension a film, is being worked on.

It's not worth being too panicky over any of this though. We know we're getting Bond related stuff in 2026, at least if you're a gamer. A Bond film is in the works whatever way, but we know it's not going magically crop up in 2026. Most rumours have been saying since early this year it'll be a 2028 release anyway. I don't see any reason as of now that that's unlikely, but of course we'll know at some point whatever way when we'll get this film.

Yes. You can’t have top talent waiting around on pay or play deals forever (this is expensive and there are drop dead dates baked into these contracts). From the producers to the writer and director, they have already lined up their next few projects.

We will certainly hear things in the new year. Who knows when (I guesstimate spring to early summer, giving Knight almost a calendar year to get the script in fighting shape before he hands it off for auditions (there’ll be more rewrites, but once the main guy is cast)…

Funnier things have happened, but I don’t think there’s much of a chance 2026 comes and goes without significant movement (unless Amazon decides to shelve the project and start from scratch; but if it’s Knight, Villeneuve, Heyman and Pascal, there will forward progress as this isn’t the only one big project each has in development; they have to get a move-on).

I think they'll start filming in early 2027, so we'll know a lot about the movie in 2026.

This seems reasonable and plausible… 🤞🏻
