Prunella Scales, beloved star of Fawlty Towers, has sadly passed away at the age of 93. She had been living with Alzheimer’s for the past decade. A wonderful actress and a key part of one of my all-time favourite British comedies. Rest in peace.

RIP Prunella Scales, Fawlty Towers would not have been the same without Sybil.

What a loss! Although quite a petite lady, she totally convinced audiences that she was Basil’s worst nightmare. Tremendous actress.

I loved how terrified Basil was of Sybil on occasion, the genius of Fawlty Towers was that it ended on a high (all the episodes were top quality), many sitcoms go on for far too long and the quality inevitably drops.

    Oh no :(

Fantastic actor. In GE of course, but also in many French films, amongst which a phenomenal performance in one of my favourite films: Nikita

Meanwhile, Venables keeps being released from prison. He was up for parole in September, but I can't find what the outcome was.

Condolences to the Shyamalan family. Cardiology is a noble profession, and I’m sure he had an impact on many people through his life.

Remembering all those who laid down their lives in the cause of freedom and justice in two World Wars and in all the conflicts around the world since then. For the first time I had the great honour of laying a wreath on behalf of my political party at a local Remembrance Day event on Sunday past. We will remember them.

Legendary Japanese actor (and my all-time favorite) Tatsuya Nakadai has sadly passed away from pneumonia at the age of 92. He has a swathe of classics under his belt that I'll always cherish. RIP to a master.

    Sad news.

After his death was announced, the Criterion channel created a banner to highlight several of the films that he was involved in.

An incredible resume to say the least. The Human Condition trilogy is one of the most harrowing and awe inspiring pieces of cinema I’ve ever seen.

RIP Mr. Nakadai. Not being as familiar with Japanese cinema as I wish that I was, I do remember him from Kagemusha and Yojimbo and thoroughly enjoyed him in those films. Though I don't want to reduce his merits to just two films, as his career includes many classics (incl. but not limited to Seven Samurai, Ran and Sanjuro) that I yet have to discover.

I was only listening to some Primal Scream last night, I will put one of my Stone Roses CDs on now as tribute.

    R.I.P. Mani way too young.
